paired with a cutting edge tequila-based cocktail program. We look forward to serving you!
I went with a couple of friends on a Tuesday night. There seemed to be one waitress working the tables (3 seated including ours) which seems reasonable for a non-busy night. However, it took forever to get our drink order to the table. The greeting time was decent. That seemed to be the theme for the visit. Service was terrible. We had to ask several times for different things. I can understand if the place was full things taking a while or forgetting one thing, but with 3 normal size tables on the entire place, there is no excuse. The noise level was pretty high based on the few tables in the place seated. They had a cool frozen drink flight. Some were good and some I didn’t like. But that is personal taste. The food tasted pretty good in my opionion, but there are other restaurants in the area that have better service and food.
Chef Carlos is inventive and creative with his TexMex dishes. Loved it!
Great atmosphere! Fantastic service and creative Tex Mex dishes. I Highly recommend!
The fish tacos were awesome! This is a great place to go with a friend for some good food and a relaxing atmosphere.
Great place for a group to meet up before going out! The employees are very accommodating, and the environment is energetic and lively. The food is great, but beware - your bill can add up real quick with those $10 cocktails.
Great outdoor space !!!
Manager did an excellent job really taking care of our large group
This place is great! The food was very very good and plentiful. The drinks were interesting and the decor was so fun. Definitely a must do.
Drinks were fine - but food was awful. Salsa, guac were bland with no flavor. Fajitas were terrible and the tortillas were so over cooked we couldn't even bite into them..
Love this place! The food is delicious, service is amazing, and ambiance can’t be beat.
Awesome service, I had the breakfast empanadas they were so good! Would definitely get that again, although the music was a little loud for brunch, my friend and I had to yell across the table
Good food, great place, great service
Great atmosphere and very good food. . . Some of the items had changed from what was written in the menu, but all still very good. The noise level was definitely high
A friend was going out of town so we decided to try a new Tex mex place. The place was really cool, love how it was decorated! The service was very slow though. But our waitress was awesome.
This is our fourth or fifth visit to Don Chingon, which is located in our neighborhood. We like the friendly welcome, the cool vibe, semi-sexy atmosphere, the unique desert landscaping, plus the inventive food. Our favorites are the smoked brisket tacos and the Mexican mac and cheese.
Noise in this restaurant is a very major problem: the background music is always entirely too loud.
Service is good but not as attentive in most other Dallas TexMex restaurants that we frequent.
We will return to Don Chingon, hoping that the last two points may show improvement.
Great drinks; fun atmosphere.
Place was virtually empty and it took 45 minutes to get our food. We’ve been many times when it’s been packed and the service was way better. Also, saw they use Jose Cuervo mix to make their margaritas, gross
Came for dinner last week. Thought I would start with a Margarita, and although there seem to be plenty of tequila options at the bar, the waitress was completely uninterested in letting me get a “normal margarita” with a different tequila—she just kept pointing me back to their standard pre-made margarita (the Hacienda Margarita). This pre-made margarita says it’s made with Patron and their own triple sec, but it tasted like it had soda water in it, and was more like a fizzy citrus cooler. I’d never been to a Mexican restaurant that has a solid selection of Tequilas at the bar, and yet, I couldn’t just get a “normal” Margarita that wasn’t mixed with some sort of other fruit or juice. Disappointing.
The food orders were all wrong. One of the dishes was cold. Very disappointed.
Terrible service. Wait staff was clueless. Also they ran out of guacamole?!! How does a Tex Mex place run out of guacamole?
Tables are really close together, so you are either bumping into someone or someone is bumping into you.. The food is really good and so are the drinks!
The food was a beautiful blend of flavors and our server was amazing! The ambiance was fun and you can in fact climb on to the piñata for a picture. But truly their margarita Monday deal is great!
Pretty good even though by the time we left we were pretty tipsy but will keep refering more customers
The drinks must be incredible, because the food just wasn’t that good. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t... I got the fajitas for two to split with a friend, and even though it was double the price, you received the same one sides plate as the fajitas for one. Should have just ordered two singles.
My husband ordered the brisket tacos and they were so bland.
Overall the staff was great, but the food was ok at best.
Drinks are amazing and the atmosphere is fun. Our waitress tried her best, but several of our orders got messed up and drinks were forgotten. She maintained a positive attitude though. I was also surprised they were out of multiple things including avocado. One girl in our party ordered a salad and half the ingredients weren’t included because they had run out and she was not proactively told. Overall recommend for drinks, but not necessarily much else.
The ambiance and decor was great and super fun. Unfortunately the service was terrible and the food was not good.
We came on Cinco de Mayo and it was a mad house. Our particular server was great and checked on us often. Food and drinks were slow to be brought out, but it was expected. Drinks were good, queso was great. I would come back for just those 2 things any time.
The rest of the food was so/so. Most of their tacos come on corn, but I recommend asking for flour. The corn tortillas were SO dry with ZERO flavor. Chicken was pretty dry, sides were good.
It was fine. They were understaffed so service was slow.
Even though it was a busy day, Petra did a great job of checking on us and splitting the bill. I would come back based on service and good drinks.
Service was quick. My beverage was always being refilled. Our server Daniel was awesome. Cool atmosphere. Loved the sugar skull murals and the giant piñata.
Drinks were very good, the menu needs some expanding. I would go back to try some of the other dishes, the queso was very good.
HORRIBLE! Ontop of being out of half of their already limited brunch menu, the food was so bad it was nearly inedible. You know it’s bad when even the refried beans are terrible. Not only is the food bad, it’s RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. $150 for four brunch entrees (two of which were sent back and not taken care of on our bill) and 4 cocktails. Will NEVER be back!
The food was amazing. Great options and very tasty. The only thing that was less than satisfactory was the service. It was slow and the waiters forgot some of the drinks for our table. In a party of 6, 3 of us had to ask if our drinks were ready. 2 teas and a bottle beer. Waiter seemed confused when we told him we still didn’t have drinks. Overall though the atmosphere is nice and the food was well worth the wait. We will return again, hopefully next time we will have a better service experience.
Our group of four had a great time and enjoyed the cocktails and food. The service from our waiter DEVON was extraordinary. Probably the best experience in service I have had in Dallas in over three years. Would highly recommend Don Chignon to anyone! Ask for Devon to serve you, you will not be disappointed...he's great and also a nice looking guy too!
The food was delicious and the drinks were Great! Its such a fun place for a girls night out.
From the start the open table reservation was ignored after advising the waitstaff that it was how we came to the location. Chips and salsa were good. However, they don't carry a large selection of beers of mexico flavor for a tex-mex business. Not all food was warm enough, but they do know how to make mexican style rice. They under seasoned the food. Portions were good, but price for some of the dishes was a bit high.
