Absolutely fantastic and opulent experience- I think there may have been a bit of honey on one of the sauces tho for requested vegan. And maybe some dairy in the chocolates with the petite fours? Othwise everything was simply brilliant and can’t wait to come back. Your menu changes seasonally? If you could let me know that would be great. Thank you!!
Beauty full Resturant
But spaghetti was good
Dollar for dollar worst dinner ever
We had a wonderful time and dinner, everything was just fabulous especially the service. The dessert petit fours were beyond a visual stunner to a most delicious taste. Pasticho semi-freddo was incredible. look forward to the change in menu as the new season approaches
Very good experience and the food was fantastic. Only gripes were that the Server had bad breath and the washroom attention and cleanliness was not as great as it could have been.
Great food and service
UNBELIEVABLE!! Quite possibly the best dining experience I’ve ever had. There are 2 different 8 course tasting menus. Each dish is a work of art, almost to pretty to eat. We also did the wine paring for the tasting menu, there was a nice variety. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, and the service was perfection. Highly recommend!
Flawless experience, chef made me a beautiful and tasty classic vegan pasta. Will definitely come back to try the vegetarian set menu. Thanks Don Alfonso team!
Wow! Toronto has made it to have Don Alfonso 1890 here direct from Italy And although you’re not sitting in the beautiful Amalif coast of Italy You were experiencing the same beautiful delicious unique food in a gorgeous environment. I loved everything about this restaurant but most importantly the food had that Special Italian taste like I was eating in a five star restaurant in Europe. Although TORONTO has many delicious restaurants none of them give you a European five start feeling like Don Alfonso 1890 . I know I should say this restaurant is for special occasions But the truth is one should enjoy it as often as possible Because after all the price for the set course menu in Canadian dollars is beyond reasonable In my opinion nowhere else in North America or Europe could you have had this set course meal for $150 per person cnd And an additional $100 per person for great wines to go along with the full meal. I can’t wait to go back thank you so much for a great dinner and coming to Toronto !
fantastic！！really tasty and beautiful
The only reasons to visit Don Alfonso would be the ambiance and the service. Awe-inspiring space. Impeccable service.
The food, though, is another story altogether. Huge disappointment, coming from two Michelin starred chefs.
We chose the “contemporary” menu (vegetarian, to put it in non-flowery language). The first two of the eight courses were beautifully presented and were delicious. Then, things went south.
The third course onwards, the dishes grew progressively heavier and saltier, culminating in a sixth savoury course of....tempura! What is tempura doing on this menu? “Our version of tempura” is what our server claimed it was, but it was the tempura you can get anywhere at all.
The desserts were pretty, and pretty inedible, except the hazelnut concoction.
Te server could see that I was sending back all my dishes untouched, but instead of trying to find out what was wrong, he kept trying to upsell. Because $150++ per person isn’t enough. “We make an excellent risotto which is light and not at all dairy-heavy.” Really? Then why is your one single pasta course oozing salty cheese? Why would I want to add more food to my bill, when I can’t even eat what you’re putting in front of me? I know you’re trained to sell, sell, sell. But aren’t you also trained to see? See that your customer isn’t eating, so she’s clearly not happy.
I would never go back, nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone.
Also, the sommelier was very good, and very friendly yet professional. But that orange wine from Croatia is simply nasty. Just give Orange Crush instead, it will be less disgusting.
Overall - not even worthy of a three star rating.
We were excited to try this restaurant and was let down by the food. We were expecting to be “wow-ed” instead it was just good. Expected more from this highly talked about restaurant.
Portion sizes were too small
Beautiful presentation and service. Overall, surpassed expectations!
We have had truthfully one of our most exceptional gastronomical experience. We certainly were in awe from first bite to the last. We were also extremely impressed with the wine pairing . Such an incredible selection of wines and perfection in pairing.
After being in Marrakech, Macao , in short lived
Roma (Melia) Don Alfonso 1890 locations I can comfortably say Toronto location is the only one can ever be compared and come close to Santa Agata Due Golfi (original location of Don Alfonso)..
Congrulations to all staff at Toronto location. We are grateful to have such a place in Canada which I had called in my first visit to Santa Agata the "Temple of Gastronomy"...it looks like now we have this wonderful place within our reach downtown Toronto. So pleased and delighted.
Thank you to all at Toronto location particularly Saverios Macri, Daniele Corona for amazing food Alessio Altomare for graceful hospitality, head sommeliers and Bebe for wonderful wines and all our servers.
But most importantly to entire IACCARINO family for creating, training and spreading highest quality of food and hospitality around the world. Continue to show how it is DONE..!!!!!
The server was condescending and subpar--did not ask us how the food was even once, in the three hours we were there, he did the bare minimum and made some snide remarks. Another classist server sabotaging it for the other team members who were very nice, especially the host. Otherwise the food was okay, nothing too mind-blowing but on par with the price. Would have been a much better experience if the service was more attentive.
Had an amazing time, great Ambience, and service Gareth was awesome
Amazing service and food was great. If you’re trying to make a great impression, then this is the place to take your date/significant other.
Don Alfonso's is an amazing, high-end experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, and knowledgable. The food is heavenly. Expect to spend a few hours there (our experience lasted about 3 hours), and note that there are only two options for food. Once vegan, one with meat. I say "only" but don't let that fool you. There is nothing lacking in this menu. I had the classic menu, which has meat, and it was the best meal I've ever had. I understand the menu is set to change in the new year, so get in there and enjoy this menu. You will not regret it!
A memorable, beautiful dining experience. An exceptional non-alcoholic cocktail list!
We had a wonderful evening. The staff were professional and outstanding. The food was incredible we had a lovely evening thank you all so much
For the price, the whole experience was exceptional. The food was unique and flavours subtle and delicate. It was memorable but still not on same level as Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence or even Daniels in New York. Lastly. I brought my umbrella that day and checked it in with my coat but on leaving was not presented with it by the coat check. Halfway home I realized that I had left my umbrella and on calling, there was no offer to get the umbrella to me, rather I was expected to make a special trip to pick it up after 5pm one evening. For a special occasion dinner, I did not feel very special in the end.
The experience was excellent from start to finish. Benjamin was our server and was on point every step of the way. The making of the mojito “now and then” was unique and the presentation looked fantastic. The classic menu was excellent. The overall experience was legendary. Wife and I finished the night with a tour by the management team which was special. Keep it up!
We came with high expectations which were surprisingly exceeded on all fronts. It is truly one of the best dining experiences in the city. Well done.
Beautiful room. We had both tasting menus and while a few dishes were fantastic, too many were just “ok”. We’ve been to many of the world’s top restaurants and while this isn’t in the same league, our $1,100 bill for 2 was not commensurate with the food or service expected for that price. Service was very spotty and when at the table was too laden with “instructions” how to eat things, without knowledge of the diner’s level of food knowledge. I was excited for Toronto to have another sophisticated dining option but it fell flat. We will try it again as it could have been a very off night. The wine pairings were quite good, but nothing too innovative.
Wonderful food, very labour intensive cooking as befitting the asking price. Definitely worthy of at least a couple of Michelin stars if they ever deemed Toronto worthy of a visit. Very polished and smooth service. The wine pairing was well chosen and perfectly compliment the food dishes. Even the petit fours arrived with a great flourish to end the lovely meal. We were also given a guided tour of the restaurant including the wine cellar which further enhanced our experience. This is not your everyday restaurant but for sure we’ll be returning.
First time here with a couple of girlfriends. The service was fantastic, such a friendly and enthusiastic team that knows how to present the food with such knowledge and charm. We got to walk through the kitchen and down the wine cellar and also meet the chef. Great experience! Love the style of the restaurant too! Very classy! 👌
Underwhelming. Expected a lot more given the hype and history of the brand.
Good food but very small portion.
For the price very inexperienced servers.
Over priced. Extended wine list which is super marked up.
We enjoyed the classic tasting menu. Every dish was delicious one better than the next. Decor was stunning, service was fantastic , classy place but not stuffy .. a little noisy unable to hear the server for most of his descriptions of each course. Definitely recommend and would
Like to return if or when the menu changes It was. A great added touch to have a tour of the restaurant, kitchen and wine cellar
Not good for birthdays
Way over price. The place is absolutely stunning . Wasn’t very happy with the food.
Completely overpriced. Dinner for 4 was $2,000. Not worth it.
We were very impressed with the sommelier and the whole wine pairing experience!
To me, it is better than Alo. I have been to many 3 star resturants and this is like a 1.5 to 2 star. It will be difficult to book a table in the near future. Book quickly.
It was my husbands birthday. We really enjoyed the food. Every dish we ordered was delicious!
Had a wonderful meal and experience celebrating a birthday. The food and service were incredible. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this beautiful restaurant.
This restaurant has a good service attitude, a beautiful setting and a good environment.
The meal we had was one of the best I ever tasted. We had the Classic menu and the wine pairing, so delicious. The chef is very talented and it is evident in the expertly crafted dishes, which are refined and original. The setting is formal but not stuffy. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The sommelier was very knowledgeable.
A little bit pricy but totally worth it.
Amazing spot for a special occasion
Daniel is an extraordinary and creative chef. Our dishes were magical!
