About Domenica

Domenica is a contemporary and inviting Italian restaurant that creates regional Italian dishes with southern and middle eastern influences. The cuisine combines Chef Alon Shaya's Israeli heritage and love of local ingredients with a menu that reflects his time spent cooking and living in the small towns of northern Italy.

Unlike previous visits, service was rather poor. Friends of our waiter were at the next table, and he spent considerable time talking with them. The bread that usually comes out shortly after drinks didn’t arrive until shortly after our appetizers. And it was other servers who brought those as well as our entrees. Our table was very close to one of the entrances, so there was a constant stream of people walking past our table. The restaurant was quite noisy, as well. It all added up to a less than enjoyable dinner.

Pizza is great..but a little low on toppings. Roasted cauliflower is delicious but $19 is a little high. Overall though the food is very good. I go there every time I go to Nola.

I visited this restaurant Sunday evening with friends for my birthday dinner. The manager Ryan was very accommodating to my party of 5, although I'd only reserved for 4. He also sent over 4 delicious desserts for the occasion. The waitress Amanda was amazing! That was probably the best service I've received at any restaurant in a long time. She was very knowledgeable, energetic, charming, and sweet! Great experience and great food.

An excellent choice for authentic, upscale Italian cuisine in New Orleans! Simple, but fresh, quality ingredients make each dish a standout, and the Roasted Cauliflower is a perfect example. Big enough to share among 4 people, it is just a head of cauliflower, drizzled with olive oil and salt, and then roasted; served with whipped feta cheese for dipping. It's so simple, but absolutely delicious! The Octopus Carpaccio was delightful. The Stracci, with Lamb Ragu, Mint and Fried Chicken Livers, was sublime, and I was happy to be able to share an order of Lasagna with someone at the table, because it was probably one of the best I've ever had. The portions are generous, so it is nice to dine here with friends because otherwise it would be impossible to sample many of the amazing dishes offered. The Blood Orange Sorbet was light, and along with the Double Espresso, made for the perfect ending to a magnificent dining experience!

Food was creative and very good. Service and advice from the server was excellent. Overall a very nice experience for hosting friends from out of town. This was my first time dining here and it met my from what I'd read and heard from friends.

We enjoyed our experience at Domenica. The kale appetizer and cheese and meat board was amazing! The clam pizza and lasagna are out of this world! Great service and nice atmosphere. Another amazing meal in NOLA!!!

The food is phenomenal! It’s loud and service was fine but the meal was superb! The octopus carpaccio was so fresh and citrusy and the lamb ragout pasta with fried chicken livers was innovative. The pizza is beyond good- fresh ingredients, crispy crust and awesome seasoning.

I’ve eTen at Dominica several times. It has creative foods, good variety, and pleasant and engaging staff. I’ve consitently enjoyed every experience there. It has become my go-to restaurant when I’m in New Orleans, suitable for entertaining family, friends, and business colleagues.

Great location just off Canal Street. The lamb meatballs served over polenta is very good and you have to order the whole roasted cauliflower if your party is 4 or more. We had four at our table and couldn’t eat it all but it was excellent with the whipped feta on the side. The desserts were excellent as well.

I was unhappy with the choices on the menu. There were too many carbohydrates offered on the menu. There were very few low-carb options. And each menu item had at least one strange spice added, such as fennel.

The dessert was delicious. Lemon something.

We had a fantastic meal at Domenica while visiting for Tulane Homecoming weekend. The food was outstanding-tru the Burrata and arranci appetisers and the truffle pasta. Desserts were excellent as well. We will definitely return!

Pasta was hard not al dente. Both our dishes had very little flavor. We had triangale and tagliatelle. I was a bit shocked. The waiter filled my water but was very curt and snooty with my wife and I. Im not rich but I did pay full price for the food I ordered. He could’ve been like that because we don’t drink. The restaurant was very sterile and yet warm inside. My bill was $70. I would not ever go back. It felt like a trick. Not a treat.

Pretty room: a bit noisy, but not overwhelmingly so. Not quite up to the reviews: one appetizer OK, the other good. We had two pastas: one very good the other (mint pasta, lamb ragu with liver) was superb. Service was only passable.

The menu was limited and not very Italian. It was the most bizarre menu I’ve ever seen for an Italian restaurant. Duck, quail eggs, rabbit, chicken livers, etc., not my taste-at all! Service was slow and subpar at best. We actually ordered an appetizer and split the only traditional pasta dish on the menu. We ended up at Ruth Chris two hours later for a great meal and great service.

Our service was horrible. Something went wrong in the kitchen or they forgot to put in our order because it took about an hour and a half for use to get our meals. Then, once the food arrived it was all cold- like ice cold. The food all had good flavors but it was an unacceptable experience for a restaurant of this quality. The manager was able to accommodate us AFTER she realized we were not at fault. Our server was not nice. The drinks were ok, nothing exciting. We were there for a special occasion and it was not a great way to kick off the celebrations.

Great restaurant. Just wish they didn't have such a limited menu. If you order an entree it doesn't come with anything such as a salad, just bread. Entree and appetizer choices are limited. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Wildly disappointed as food is four star and service from the moment you arrive is minus four. Obviously corporate culture promotes bad attitude/ your on our program towards the customer. Dinner & Lunch visits reconfirmed this along with visit to sister restaurant Shaya. NOLA a great town for food as well service not so at Domenica.
