Domaine Serene Wine Lounge - Lake Oswego

My spouse and I have been eagerly awaiting this restaurant/wine bar as we live nearby, are big foodies, and are fans of Domaine Serene's pinots. I'd read the reviews, so we were prepared for very small portions and high prices. Had the food quality been good we would have had no complaints, but three of the five dishes were essentially flavorless and only one of them was accurately described on the menu. There was literally no flavor of hazelnuts whatsoever in the cauliflower with hazelnut cream and microplaned hazelnuts -- they were totally absent. The only flavor on the dish came from the lemon zest -- it wasn't even salted. The salmon that was supposed to have a horseradish crust had flavorless breadcrumbs on top and minimal flavor from what appeared to be a lemon buerre blanc. The winter greens salad had no dressing on it and we told one of the waitstaff who took it away and apologized, but he didn't ask us if we wanted a replacement. The sauce under the confit potatoes (confit means slow cooking in fat, but these potatoes were clearly boiled in water as they had no flavor on their own) was quite tasty as was the bucatini. The wine was, as expected, terrific and the restaurant is very stylish, but we won't be back. Lake Oswego needs great restaurants and this one could be if they provided value for the money. By value, I don't mean portion size; I mean the quality and execution of the dishes. I'd rather drive into Portland than come back here and I think a lot of the sort of people they want to attract will do the same if they don't make improvements.
Nice; But... for the value Hors d'oeuvres and a glass of wine way over priced! Service was good and I found the staff friendly. Again, way over priced even for a special occasion.
Highly recommend for wine and appetizers, dinner was very small portions and quite expensive for what you got. Service was excellent.
We are Domaine Serene members so super excited they opened up in Lake Oswego. The wine of course is amazing. Food portions are very small. We were on a double date and pretty much shared everything on the menu and we devoured everything. Out check cane out to about $500 and included a bottle of wine. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or for drinks before but not your casual meal.
This was our first visit to the Wine Lounge in LO. We enjoyed it and will be back. Some things need to be tweaked a bit. Maybe switch out the live music to a live piano player. "Steak On The Rocks" should be eliminated from the menu. Some of the rocks were small enough to accidentally become part of a bite of food. Did not really see the point of the presentation. All of the food was tasty and well prepared. We will be another time.
Excellent wine from there own winery. Food portions are small but quality was good.
Great small plates to eat, cool room off the main room that was not too load topped off with a great waitstaff.
Recommendation has caveats.
1. It has only been open to the public for two weeks.
2. The quality of the food and wine were excellent.
3. The food and wine menu selections are not cheap or, in the case of the food, reasonably priced based on the small portions. Some of the prices, like for the pasta, were ridiculous.
4. Since most of the wines are from the winery, bring your gold card. Most of the bottle prices are 3x or more costly than the food.
With fine-tuning, we will be back but, not often as the net cost is higher than we care to incur.
For a glass of wine-yes; for food-no.

Hi James, Sorry to hear you did not enjoy the food during your recent visit. Any details are always welcomed and we hope that we get the opportunity to serve you again soon. Best, Josh Porter General Manager
The food was tasty but the portions are crazy small! Came away hungry. I’m fine paying for good quality food but you should come away feeling satisfied! Probably won’t go back.
Really nice and fun ambiance and service was fantastic. I'd definitely go back, but best for a before or after dinner drink and apps. It won't be in the regular rotation for a dinner spot despite living nearby. The entree prices look very reasonable until you see the portions. If you can treat the menu as if everything is just small plates to taste with your wine and not full meal portions you will definitely enjoy it. I guess the small portions are a healthier way to eat too!
The setting was beautiful. The service was attentive but not necessarily welcoming and kind. The food was very good and so was the wine of course. However for three ladies to have wine and food over a few hours with tip was over $400. So although the space is beautiful and the wine and food is great, for light small plates and wine four hundred dollars does seem excessive. Also we requested some bread after we had paid to go with the rest of our wine and it was met with hesitation to be provided. After spending $400 on a meal and wine you would think providing some bread would not be such a big deal.
Very small portions.
Fantastic wine.
This will be the hottest thing in LO
This place is fantastic and should do well in Lake Oswego. The decor and layout will allow several different experiences with the variety of places to sit. Will have to hang out at rye bar soon.! We expected the Domaine Serene wines to be expensive and they certainly are but wines are excellent. We did a glass pour 1st but one of us received a very short pour. We them ordered a bottle which seemed like a better way to go. The food was outstanding. We will need to come back several times to try all the choices. We were told they plan to change the menu often and surrounding tables chose other items so won’t be to stay away too long!
Our on,y criticism would be we arrive when the live music was playing. It was so loud we were barely able to carryon a conversation and we were at a tiny table away from the 2-piece band. They complete their set and we enjoyed the lively crowd.
I expect they will get things down even better since we were there during their soft opening. Guessing it will only get busier.
The food and service were excellent!
The wine selection is over the top!
One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. We made another reservation three days later because we enjoyed it so much. It was not an inexpensive meal but was worth every penny.
Excellent service,foo
While the atmosphere is very nice and the food is delicious the portions are ridiculously small for the price. The shared plate items are really only for one person, especially the Brussels sprouts and prawns (prawn). I think they will need to increase their portions to make it in LO.
