Best restaurant in the State!!
Ordered pre-fixe. Portions for entree smaller than usual. Service was excellent.
We've been in this restaurant 6 times since my first review in April 2016. Each coming time the experiences were slowly but surely moving from amazing to great, to good, to not so good, to disappointing and finally the last visit was just plain awful. Food varied from very mediocre to tasteless and in case of beet soup (which was bland as baby food) and sweetbreads appetizer (which they probably forgot even to salt) just uneatable. Service was VERY, VERY SLOW. Drinks are mediocre and expansive. Value for all frustration we've received was really bad (even after manager didn't charged us for uneatable items).
The first restaurant in Wilmington to totally meet and exceed our expectations. The food was just right ... smaller portions but right for the prix fixe 4 course meal. Innovative menu choices executed and presented in a beautiful, but not pretentious way. The beet soup was excellent (and the yogurt/fennel combination a nice contrast in just the right quantity); the rabbit tortellini rich but nicely done; the Diver scallops and venison were cooked perfectly and the accompaniments (using a variety of local mushrooms and a crispy polenta with the venison) complemented the entrees perfectly. The wine list is wide and interesting with a very wide price range -- something for everyone. We enjoyed the flights and the availability of smaller servings by the glass which allow for tasting several different wines or varying by course.
Altogether, a terrific experience which will draw us back. (Go early as Friday night after 6 becomes noisy.)
Great menu and cooking. We chose DH because Chef D'Amico took over the kitchen recently and we have enjoyed his skill and creativity through several of his venues, starting with Eclipse. the Snapper Crudo was a perfect starter. May partner's venison was perfectly prepared and well-presented and I chose the duck and rabbit cassoulet out of curiosity to see if Patrick could short-cut this difficult dish and produce something worthwhile. I was delighted.
Visited for the first time on Friday night. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and semi-crowded bar (not a bad thing). We were given a table right away - place was busy, but not packed. Honestly, the food was phenomenal. My date had duck/rabbit cassoulet, and I had the tagliatele. Both were outstanding. Fois gras and cheese plate appetizers were also wonderfully presented, and delicious. Wine list is extensive at all price ranges, which is very appreciated. I've spent more at places in Philadelphia, and gotten far lower quality food. This is a keeper. It was my date's birthday, and the chef gave her a 2nd portion of the cassoulet because she raved about it so much - nice gift (not included on the bill). Wonderful time - we'll be back.
The place is on the small side so seating can be a bit tight, but overall it was pleasant. Cheese board was nicely prepared and paired well with the chutney and honeycomb. We had a 4 course meal with a salad, pasta, sea scallops and dessert. The plates are on the small side and some could use a bit more flavor but we were both very satisfied with this place.
A great night out. Our first visit but we will be back. Food was amazing, service was just right, friendly and took care of us but gave us our privacy too. We did the prefix menu as first timers, the sea scallops were awesome. Can’t go wrong for a great night out.
Wonderful food, drinks and service! The 5-course dinner with wine pairings was amazing!
The food was exceptional, and each course [we got one of the Valentine's specials and one regular entree, just to mix things up] was tastier than the one before. Our entrees were tuna, salmon and scallops, all of which were exceptional. They have an incredible wine list; however, if you are not well-versed with wines, this will be overwhelming. They paired the five courses and their pairings were good choices. They absolutely complimented the food they accompanied. My only pause is the cost. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. In fact, I don't know that we have ever paid this amount for a meal for two, other than at a Brazilian steakhouse in Washington, DC.
Wine pairing amounts were a bit precisely small. Atmosphere was lovely, service was good.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Delaware with friendly, yet professional, service, an incredible wine list, a lovely atmosphere, and food that is consistently excellent. Javier was our server... he explained the food without pushing it, was knowledgeable about the wines, had a wonderful personality, and he quite obviously loves Domaine Hudson and all the happy diners.
have not been here for ages and was eager to see how it was now that pat d’amico is running the kitchen. the meal was spectacular. best venison i’ve had in a decade. perfect foie gras with a sweet and salty garnish on a fine brioche. rabbit tortellini was near perfect. well worth a visit. wonderful wine selection. impeccable service. top tier restaurant. d’amico knows his stuff.
Never have I had a bad meal/experience. Best restaurant in Wilmington.
We dined on Valentines Day and had the special menu. Every course was delicious. Our server was very personable, attentive and knowledgeable. We used to dine here often and had not been there in about a year. They haven’t missed a beat in terms of ambiance, food quality and service. A very nice evening!
The Valentines Day menu was not up to the usual high standard of Domain Hudson and was over priced. I will go back but only on a regular menu day.
The meal was mixed in quality. We opted for the Valentines Prix Fixe. Bisque was average with tough lobster as garnish. Endive salad was impressive. Lamb was excellent but the cauliflower was hardly edible: dry, hard, tasteless. I did not care for the chocolate dessert, which was dense. I ate about half of it. Overall, I was disappointed to pay $130 and not feel I had an excellent meal.
We have been to this restaurant two times and both times there was an unacceptable one hour plus wait for entrees after we were seated. We don't plan to return.
We loved the waiter. ( forgot his name: older man. He told, after we asked, that he is front Mexico.
Nice meal, but very pricey relatively speaking.
Service very good. Food came out a little slow, but it was OK since we were just relaxing and eating. Javier did a very nice job.
Food quality was very good.
Cost might prevent me from returning.
I would say that this restaurant was just, good. There wasn't anything exceptional, but it was a tasty meal in a cute restaurant.
Just a great time
Food and service were perfect. Best restaurant in Delaware!
Always a delight! This is the best restaurant in Delaware.
Fabulous meal. Great service. AMAZING wine list.
Domain Hudson is one of our favorite restaurants in Wilmington. We loved the food prepared by Duane, but, alas, he has decided to relocate to the West. We have know the "new" chef, Patrick, for many years. Our dinner in his first week on the job in a kitchen new to him was absolutely perfect. I can't say more than this. If you are reading this and trying to decide whether to come to Domain Hudson, I urge you to click on the reservation button, you will not regret your choice.
Absolutely amazing! Celebrated a new job, and even had a handwritten congrats note delivered to our table, along with a beautiful candled scoop of gelato. Would recommend a four-topper for 2 though, as the space quickly runs out when all the delightful dishes are ordered.
Our special occasion place to go. Great food and service. Presentation is beautiful and great pairing of ingredients. Just a delightful unrushed meal.
Domain Hudson has a great menu with a really nice variety of wine flights. A very quiet place for an excellent date night.
Excellent crusine, our waiter was great and helpful with recommendations with the menu. However I was extremely disappointed with what have been a nice acknowledgement of our 52 anniversary dinner. We had our 51 first anniversary dinner at your resturant last year, returned this year in part because of your notice and warm replies of congratulations. This year I requested table 4 again, and explained in advance why I wanted table 4, so I was disappointed that no acknowledgment was made. In acknowledgement I mean verberly , not that you needed to go out of your way with gift of free cake or desert or discount, but wives love to hear that type of acknowledgement, 52 years is very special.
Seriously awesome place! Small but thoughtfully designed menu, great bar, world class wine list and wonderful service - get the prix fixe so you can try more things. Highlights - carrot appetizer, cecametitti w trumpet mushrooms, roast duck and the apple dessert. OMG the duck! You MUST have the duck. Put on a jacket, shine your shoes an go to Domaine Hudson. I can't wait to become a regular.
So-so food at a high price
We have been to Domaine Hudson on quite a few occasions and have always enjoyed it. Our last dinner there was a big letdown. The food was mediocre. The consomme, for instance, was quite bland and was served barely above room temperature. The other courses were better, but unexceptional.
The service was extremely poor. We had two courses and a glass of wine each. There was no dessert or coffee. Dinner took an hour and a half. We were constantly being told that our meal was "on its way". The waiter disappeared from the dining room for extended periods. And we never did receive one of the sides we ordered.
Domaine Hudson is expensive, of course ($100 for the meal, including tip), and it simply was not worth it this visit.
The staff is very attentive and accommodating. My dinner guest is the most important person in my life. The staff reserved the perfect table for our date and ensured our evening and dinner were most enjoyable. Our meals were well-presented and delicious. I recommend Domaine Hudson for special occasions. Colonel Thomas Stocks, US Army
I've been to Domaine Hudson on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. Easily the best restaurant in Wilmington, DE and suitable for anything from a business meal to a romantic outing. I am especially impressed by how the chef works with my dietary restrictions (which are admittedly a pain in the butt) and adjusts courses appropriately. Also has some very nice wine choices.
Absolutely outstanding. The steak melted in my mouth. Had to find it at our butcher’s and try it at home.
This is the third time we have eaten at DH. Food quality is always good, but the ambiance and overall feel was down a notch. It didn’t feel as special as it has before. We both had fish entrees that were prepared very nicely, but the presentation was meh. Still one of the better restaurants in Wilmington, but it is not the star it once was.
I’ve never been cared for so well as a first-time guest at a restaurant. Steven and team were delightful.
My wife and, I who are from out of town, recently stayed at the Hotel DuPont. We saw the Domaine Hudson was highly rated on Trip Advisor and ate there last Saturday night. We each went with the 4 course meal which was phenomenal. There was also an excellent wine list and the service was quite good. The Domaine Hudson is something special.
Want for the Couples Date Night and it was a great deal. Three courses and a bottle of wine for $95. The food was delicious and the service was great. Second time going here and I will definitely be returning.
