Delicious and chic bistro in Wilmington! Enjoyed the 4 course option for $60 and thought we'd receive tapas -style, small plates but were pleasantly surprised to find we received full, very tasty servings. You may choose from any offering on the menu! We began with a chilled asparagus soup with smoked salmon which was sublime. We moved to the pasta course in which I enjoyed perfectly prepared capellini carbornara. My friend had another pasta dish local to Rome which she knows well and said it was also very yummy and well prepared. We then had scallops with succotash which was fresh and delicious. We finished with sharing (we were so full) a deconstructed strawberry shortcake with ice cream. The dessert was o.k. The service was friendly, attentive (but not overly so) and knowledgeable. The courses were paced perfectly. Overall, I'd highly recommend the restaurant.
Domaine Hudson was terrific. Great food. Sophisticated and unobtrusive service. A little expensive but not outrageously so. I am not a wine fan but they seemed to have a terrific selection. Beer selection was solid for a wine-oriented restaurant.
Was underwhelmed. Risotto rice was not arborio rice. Risotto was dry and no Parmesan shavings on top. Rice pudding could have use 2 minutes longer on the stove.
Cheeseboard was served without any explanation. Chicken was blend imo.
Wine was very good. So was the cocktail.
Hostess could have cover her mosquito bite legs. The Latino waiter is very friendly and professional.
we did the prefix menu. server was Amy. everything was great. enjoyed our food and wine flights. will definitely return and recommend.
The food was wonderful. We had a cheese plate with all 5 cheese options; wonderful selection with thoughtful accompaniments. I appreciate the options for dish size on the pasta choices. By offering both a full portion and a half-portion, we were able to try more selections without overeating.
Unfortunately, our server was not up to the level of the rest of the restaurant. The hostess (possibly the manager) was far more attentive than our actual server was.
The wine list is impressive! Again, I appreciate the options for pour sizes. It's a treat being able to try more than one wine without overindulging (they offer three sizes of pours).
I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again next time we're in town!
We had a great dining experience. The service and food were exemplary. The list of wines available by the glass is extraordinary. We chose the prix fixe menu and weren't disappointed. We both started with the lamb carpaccio, which was followed by the capellini carbonara second course, and a seared scallop entree. Desserts included a sorbet and a cheese plate. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. This place gets extra credit (not that they need it) for extra touches and attention to detail. For example, I had mentioned to our server (Amy) that I was torn between the carpaccio and an asparagus starter. I ended up ordering the carpaccio, and to my surprise, she delivered both. Amy was clearly knowledgeable about all of the menu items and wine offerings. Very impressive. Our expectations were definitely exceeded.
Great service and great food, what more can you ask for!
Service was excellent. Presentation was excellent . Atmosphere was lovely. Food was very good. We ordered a variety of foods. The meat special of the day was veal chop. It was a bit on the tough side. Steak and chicken and spaghetti squash was very good. For dessert we ordered rice pudding. We did not like it. Rice was not cooked soft and flavor was odd. It was a combination of a blueberry compote and rice pudding. The deconstructed strawberry cake was a very small portion and the taste was ok. We ordered a bottle of wine so the bill for 5 was $290.00 with tip. Expensive but overall a nice experience.
We chose Domaine Hudson to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary because we had such a nice experience for our 40th. Wasn't disappointed! From the greeting and best wishes to the complimentary glasses of Proseco and steak tartare thru the entire dining experience, we were delighted! Fine dining at its best!!
The food was really good, but the service left more than a little to be desired. For example, it took forever for the waitress to take our drink order. Once she did, we ended up getting our first course before the drinks! Like what?! Even worse is that we just ordered wine and beer, not fancy cocktails. That should have been out within minutes. Then when the bill came, the waitress asked us if we ordered 1 or 2 bottles of water. We said 2 and she took the bill back. It was so awkward. If you don’t know the answer to that, that’s not the customer’s fault. For the price point and Mother’s Day dinner, I expect more than the “JV team”. I won’t be rushing back.
Mother’s Day. We had 4 different appetizers and four different entrees ( salmon, veal chop, quail, hanger steak) and all were excellent.
Service was attentive and well informed
Nice wine selections also
We especially enjoyed the cold asparagus soup and the fresh asparagus appetizer. Hanger steak was cooked exactly as requested. Desert cheese tray was outstanding as was gelato
We had the private room in the back and everything from the service to the food was amazing, as always!
Perfect. Everything was perfect. Service was lovely. Food was fabulous. It was pricey, but totally worth it.
We were there for our anniversary - we had just moved to the area and I was excited to try this fabled place. When we were seated I immediately noticed the harsh lighting and the fact that the acoustics allowed me to hear every word of the conversation next to us (through a table change, so not just the diners). No bread or other amuse bouche. I was offered an iPad to peruse wine - cool app, but the iPad itself was totally crusty and disgusting and I didn't want to touch it before eating.
When the waiter offered specials, my husband expressed interest in an entree special, which had been cooking for six hours. (This will be relevant.). The waiter said there were only two left so he'd go reserve one. Great. We wait for a long time, again without bread or snacks, until our drink order is taken. Before any drinks arrive, or before I even place my food order or my husband is able to order any appetizers, my husband's special entree is plunked in front of him. (Again - cooking for six hours. No rush to plate.) We ask two different members of wait staff about this and are told it is our fault for ordering at the time the specials were read. IT was our waiter's idea! My husband ate his entree by himself while I sat there watching. If we had been on a first date or business dinner this would have been EXTREMELY awkward. My husband struggled with what to order to round out his meal, and ended up taking his other dish home. No comp or accommodation or apology was offered, and we were repeatedly told this was our fault. I will not be returning and was very disappointed.
Domain Hudson has become our favorite Wilmington restaurant. The addition of Chef Pat has continued the tradition of fine food and drinks. Javier was our waiter as he usually is, he is experienced, courteous and above all friendly. Roger the sommelier helped the table with a wine selection which worked well with 4 different main courses.
Beth and Mike, the owners, have created an elegant yet casual and above all friendly restaurant with simply excellent food and beverages. The Wine list that Mike and Roger have put together serves any palate. You can never go wrong making a reservation at Domain Hudson.
Domaine has been considered one of the top Wilmington restaurants for a while. Went there after a several year absence and thought our meal was just “good”...not great, especially given the $150 price for 2. Server was experienced and place had a good crowd for a Thursday, but menu was limited and not very exciting, dessert was a strange combo of flavors. Likely will not visit again for quite a while. Underwhelming.
On a quiet night, this is a better than average restaurant. On a busy night when there are groups present, the noise levels are oppressive. Food is good, prices are a bit high but not insane, but if you can't hear your dining companion over the crowd it isn't worth the effort.
We love the interesting menu. We've tried things we would never have tried before and have never been disappointed. Our server was top notch. The drinks are generous. Absolutely Gold Star!
There was an altercation in the restaurant, minutes before our arrival. But the staff handled in excellently.
We received a complimentary drink at the bar, while the wait staff prepared our table. The wine selection is impressive. The Pinot noir I ordered was very good.
The table we were seated was in a nice position. Sufficient room on the table and plenty of leg space.
We started off with the cheese plate and charcuterie Board. Excellent choices!! The quantity of cheese selections and the quality is outstanding. Along with the other food (honeysuckle, apples, mustard, bread, etc) on the Cheese plate, provided unlimited combination.
Add the charcuterie board, and the number of Cheese, meat combinations are endless. A def must get.
The entry menu may be limited for some. But when you include the specials, you should be able to find something you like.
We went with the pasta entrees. You can definitely tell the pasta is homemade.
The service from Tim was excellent. Our Service was not rushed and with out unnecessary interruptions. Tim’s recommendations were spot on.
Will def be back.
The food is always wonderful and the wine list complete. Great pairings and suggestions on the wine. Atmosphere is perfect and just right for great food and conversation. Other than an altercation between the Hostess and a waitress it was a great evening.
You have to read this! Not a Joke--
Went for dinner tonight: the restaurant has gone from a 4-5 star overall to a 2 star since the recent change in executive chef. We are not going back any time soon.
And....to top it off the hostess decked a server right in the middle of the restaurant and yelled "She spit on me!!" No sign of the server after this happened -- we did see the hostess grab her bag and leave.
Very strange-- at first I thought the server was having a seizure -- nope, she had been laid flat by her co-worker. A sad form of "Dinner and a Show".
probably the best food in town. incredible foie gras, succulent quail and perfectly sweet oysters. great wine selection by the glass.
As usual we had a great time. The food was delicious, the cocktails and wine were good and our waiter was outstanding. We always have an enjoyable experience when we dine here. We have to remember to come back more often.
Great place for fine dining in Wilmington. Definitely worth a try.
The taste and quality of the food was very good but the portions were very disappointing. I know it was Restaurant Week, but in my mind the portions should be the same as any other night. It is a chance to bring in new business so they try the food and want to come back. When you serve (2) scallops as an entrée, we will not be back.
Went for restaurant week and got the 3-course special menu. The food was very good but the portions were really skimpy. I am not one to focus on portion size since I think many restaurants give you way too much food. I like to focus on quality rather than quality however I ordered the scallops for my entree which was 2 scallops and a small amount of succotash with it. I thought that was a bit ridiculous. They could have given you 3 or 4 at least. This is why I gave a mediocre rating on value. Thank goodness that dessert was included otherwise I would have left hungry.
The atmosphere is casual and with an upscale feel. Excellent wine list at reasonable prices. Dinner menu limited but covers most entrees, (Beef, Fish, Chicken,). With a few unique and varied fare. Pricing Representative for an upscale restaurant
Domaine Hudson sets the bar very high for civilized people who enjoy superbly crafted food and excellent service. I am always reminded of what a pure delight dining out can be when I eat there. The professionalism of the service is especially noteworthy -- attentive but not intrusive. My only unfulfilled desire is for DH to offer lunch more often.
The food was fantastic. The wine list was fairly extensive. The bourbon list was great. The beer list left much to be desired. I did not like my table and realized it more as the evening progressed. They understood my feelings and said I would never have that same table again. I will be back for sure. Do yourself a favor and dine here. You will love it.
Went to Domaine Hudson to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Service was great as was our food!
Our waitress, Elizabeth, was fantastic as was the service. The food was good but not imaginative. The cheese/meat appy was quite good however the toast was a bit charred. Same goes for the carrots served with the steak. The pasta dish was a bit bland. Presentation of the dishes was good. The dessert of bread pudding was yummy.
All in all, the 3 course meal with a bottle of wine is a great value. We will try it again.
Absolutely delicious and the service was excellent! Worth going to.
We were very happy with every aspect of our visit to Domaine Hudson. The server was knowledgeable and responsive. The food was outstanding. We are willing to try anything at D.H.
The only less than perfect aspect is that it is a small place and many times we've been there we have found a group of folks on a business dinner which can tend to be a bit more noisy. However, that will not stop us from returning, again and again.
Was highly recommended by friends. Major disappointment.
Overpriced.. poor service. They try and portray themselves as a fine dining establishment but fails miserably.. having moved from Orlando to Wilmington recently this was so disappointing.. this is the BEST
Delaware has to offer???
God save us all.
This is our favorite restaurant in Wilmington. Great service, great ambiance, and fantastic food. Try it soon!
Domaine Hudson proved to be a delicious if expensive choice. The service was pleasant and the room beautifully appointed.
Sharing a first course, the mixed green salad proved enough for two. And, the pork belly starter set the stage for the delectable flavors to follow. My pan roasted whole Dorade was prepared perfectly as was my partner's Diver's scallops entree.
When wishing to dine well or celebrate a special event Domaine Hudson would be a wise reservation.
Our meal was lovely. our server, Patricia, was efficient, gracious, and helpful. we were a party of 3, and one is Jewish, observing Passover. Patricia listened to his concerns and made sure everything came out as ordered.
Domaine Hudson's wines-by-the-glass list is extraordinary, too.
Food, service and evening was fabulous!! Consistently!
Great Food, Great Wine, Great Service. We had a great dinner. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a fine dining experience.
Overall a great meal. New chef but quality is even better than before. Currently I think it’s the Best restaurant in the Wilmington. Kennett Chadds ford area
