Drafty and cold where we were seated. No air interlock on front door. Very loud - acoustics could use serious improvement. Otherwise, OK.
It was a Birthday celebration dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great! We had a variety of small plates and they were all amazing. Dogwood is now our favorite restaurant.

For our monthly ladies night we did the Chef's Counter. We had fabulous courses, great wine pairings, and loved our experience! We will all be back with our male partners for another Chef's experience.

Likely understaffed, normal in these times. We had a good waiter, but he seemed very rushed. Food was disappointing compared with previous occasions. Several meals were overcooked.

Love the chef experience. Food is always delicious and we enjoy Chef Jonny’s creativity. Especially love that there is no thinking involved- we just go and get delicious food and drinks!
The food was outstanding. The ambiance is terrific and the service was good. I ordered Mahi Mahi, which was the special. However, I have three issues.
1.) I realize Mahi comes from Hawaii but the price was $50, which is shocking compared to entrees at every other restaurant in Charlotte except for a few high-end steak restaurants. I eat out in Charlotte three or four times a week. I know what I am talking about. 2.) The server should have notified me of the price considering how atypically high it was. 3.) The Mahi was fried, which totally destroyed the fish, taste, and texture. Mahi is one type of fish that definitely does not lend itself to frying. Although frying can make some things taste good, it destroys Mahi . Why fry such an expensive piece of fish? The result was that the Mahi was tasteless. $50 wasted.
Best birthday spot! My mom was blown away. The food is amazing, the "experience" is fun, and Jonny is such a personable, talented guy.

We’ve been here several times. Usually excellent. Food was meh. I had the entre pecan pasta? It was tiny amount of food. Less than my colleagues order of the small plate lamb pasta. Just mediocre.
Half price wine night. Small plates were all excellent. Great service. One of my top five restaurant.
This is the second time my husband and I have sat at the chef’s table. It is such an amazing experience and every staff member is so warm and inviting. Johnny and Hayden are two chefs that are incredibly sweet and knowledgeable of their trade. They made celebrating my anniversary and mother’s birthday extra special!! The food is simply to die for and you will enjoy anything off the menu!
A surprise Tuesday date that really captured the foodies heart. We arrived around 6pm the dining crowd was light for evening service and we were promptly escorted to the “chef’s counter”. It’s a quiet corner with a view of the kitchen decorated by gorgeous succulents and growing vines. Chef Johnny and Nat immediately greeted us and served us a Brie cheese and baguette with champagne.
What a way to start!
The meal provided us a cultural tour from South Carolina to Italy. We were educated about where the vegetables were sourced from here locally along with how the Bronzino became popular as a grilled serving and how well it compliments white wine. As we progressed throughout our courses we were not only physically fed but intellectually fed.
Dogwood has captured a gem with Chef Johnny and team. The staff (waitstaff,bar, back of house) are extremely knowledgeable and helpful with dietary restrictions or allergies. If you haven’t experienced the chef counter do yourself a favor and rush to secure your reservation. You will not be disappointed!

Our dinner last night with friends at Dogwood was an exceptionally good experience. The food, service and ambiance were awesome! We will definitely be going back soon!

This was our third visit to Dogwood. The food was outstanding. The service was outstanding. Our server was very helpful in choosing a wine to compliment my tuna (which was amazing). My husband's steak was excellent. We've never had a bad meal or experience at this restaurant, and we will always be back.

Enjoyed the Oyster Roast and Live Music on the patio. Oysters 3 ways. They were fresh and perfectly shucked as well as two more excellent styles to complement. The sausages were done with a smokehouse taste and paired with great mustard choices (dill mustard was a treat) as well as a slaw with kick. A great experience.

We didn't get to do the chefs table because of traffic yet the restaurant was able to sit us down for a regular meal.
We have eaten at Dogwood before but since The Porters House is so much closer to us we have been going there more over the past while. We love them both. They are different but both awesome. It was great getting some fresh oysters and everything the three ate was excellent. When you top your meal off with some French Press coffee and a slice of Jon's Mom's carrot cake it equals some really fine dining!
