Doe Bay Cafe
Monday May 13th Doe Bay Café will be hosting a 5 course wine dinner. We are thrilled to be featuring the wines of Angelo Negro from Italy’s Piedmont region. Seating at 6pm. Cost is $100 including wine. Reservations required.
Great food and location.
Just lovely food preparation and combinations of tastes! Fresh, their garden to table, seasonal - what more could you want.
We think the food is the best on Orcas Island. Can’t wait to go back.
We walked out. Our reservations were for 8:15. They seated us about 20 minutes late. Come 8:55 and still no one had come by to take our drink order. The staff completely ignored us. We did have brunch there a few days before and the food was very good and the ambiance very charming. I don’t usually rate places based on service, but this time I am. I guess on an island with lots of tourists they don’t really need to care about that. I’m from Portland and competition is high, so servers are usually so nice and at least would tell us why there was a delay, apologize for the wait, and get us drinks ASAP.
Great dining experience as we celebrated my son’s wedding.
Came for dinner after a dip in the hot tubs. Lovely attentive service, delish food, excellent cocktails. The chickpea pancake was insanely good! Never had anything like it. Delicious. The halibut was also excellent.
Doe Bay Cafe is the best restaurant on Orcas Island.
The food was so delicious! Especially the oyster and clam dishes. The cocktails were innovative. And The views of the water & cliffs were beautiful. It is a special restaurant where memories are made.
I love the concept of this restaurant, farm fresh and super local. I had my expectations a bit too high and was let down. I ordered a pasta dish that tasted like hamburger helper rather than gourmet cuisine and it was described as having mushrooms in it, but they were no where to be found. My partner and I were celebrating a special occasion but there wasn’t any acknowledgement of that. But the location is amazing, and it’s got a very cozy vibe.
Yummy food, great location. Interesting and fun cocktails. The ice cream is sooo good!
My wife and I were in the San Juan's celebrating our 25th anniversary, eating in great restaurants every night--and the best we had was at Doe Bay Cafe. Everything we ordered was delicious, creative and unique. We are pescetarian, and there were many options we could choose from. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
So great! I love that they are local and organic. But I really love that their food is so delicious! And we enjoyed the live music! Nice and loud sitting right by the band, and we loved it!!
What a lovely place this is. Doe Bay Cafe is friendly restaurant with high quality food, great service and perfect atmosphere. I can't recommend it too highly. GO! You won't be sorry!
Wait staff was outstanding...knowledgeable, attentive, willing to work with chef on special needs. Oysters great, salmon great.
Loved the multilayered flavored food. Great service. Beautiful view. The noise level got a bit too loud for me. Something about the room makes everything echo. Other than that, it was a lovely space to celebrate my birthday.
My wife and I spent a delightful 4 nights at the resort. The staff is the most friendly and amicable that one could find anywhere. The menu is creative and delicious, the views over the bay spectacular. The ambiance in the restaurant is relaxed and casual.
If I were to suggest on thing, the food tended to be overly rich in oils.
Doe Bay Cafe is defitinely worth a little drive on Orcas Island. You’ll be met with the most scenic views of the island, emerald green water right outside your table, warmest staff and the most delicious farm-to-tabke food. I never knew one could be excited about a memory of tonnato radishes - but it’s possible in Doe Bay Cafe!
Amazing food to complement an amazing place. Had a chickpea pancake that blew my mind!
Food. Service. Atmosphere. Local. Craft Cocktails. Attention to Detail. Did I mention service? A must go while on Orcas. We love Doe Bay Cafe!
The best vegetarian meals ever! Awesome food. Sophisticated flavors.
Servers were friendly, but we sat ignored for over 45 minutes while people who came in and ordered after us got their food first before we even got the bread we had ordered right when we sat down. We had biked the 20 hilly miles out to Doe Bay and I was literally crying from hunger. We just had to sit there with empty drinks and I couldn't even get anyone's attention when I went up to the bar. Get it together! The table next to us had a half-eaten loaf of perfectly warm soft bread just sitting there and when they left, I took it and ate it. It was delicious. The food was out-of-this-world best-meal-of-my-life good as always, except for the accursed bread, which was burnt.
Food was uniformly excellent. Downside was live music that was too loud and suffering from a poorly balanced PA system during a Friday night dinner. The room itself, with an amazingly beautiful location, but on the small side, has no need for amplified music at the dinner hour. Acoustic perhaps, fine. We had booked two dinner nights in a row to coincide for our stay but bailed on the second night, fearing the same thing.
Fantastic food, incredible views. Will be back next time we’re on Orcas!
It's absolutely wonderful! The food is exquisite!!!
My only critique is the loudness of the open kitchen somewhat spoiling the ambience. The dish washing, especially, its quiet noisy for a fine dining experience.
My favorite restaurant, bar none. I’ve eaten here countless times and they continue to vastly impress. Their menu is quite progressive and hyper-seasonal/regional so there is a good chance that you’ll only get a couple of cracks to order the same thing twice. Nonetheless, this is just one thing, of many, that makes Doe Bay Cafe so special. Might as well take in a soak at the tubs and wander in the garden if you’re visiting during spring or summer, as this is crux of their kitchen’s integrity. These guys are doing some insanely creative things with food and I highly suggest you experience this gem.
We ate lunch here and it was so delicious that we drove back for dinner. Very helpful and patient wait staff. Food is cooked to perfection.
They were out of about 50% of the items on the menu, including bread. The food we did have was incredible, but the portions were meager, including the 8oz. beer. The portions would make sense if you order one of each course on the menu, but at the prices along with a family of five, that's hard to do. For a couple who are good to drop some cash, it must be an incredible experience.
I loved the dinner experience we had here. The food was delicious, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is relaxed. I'm already looking forward to coming back.
the Doe Bay Cafe was an absolute delight! fabulous food and great service and a memorable dinner. i can't wait to go back.
The items they whip up at Doe Bay always continue to amaze me. Whether it's simple pairings that they let their fresh ingredients do the talking or combining things I never would have thought of, they always nail it.
Beautiful Birthday Celebration. Thank you. 🦋🙏🦋
i have been to the cafe many times.. Typically it is very good.. this night it was good. one can't hit home runs every time. It is a bit pricey but then that seems to be the mantra on Orcas
So delicious, so friendly, such lovely music the night we were there.
Incredibly delicious meal, lovely server Sarah. Save room for desert!
Great local food, fantastic service, beautiful place!
Magical! No such thing as a bad meal, staff is wonderful, do yourself a favor and stay on the property!
For a farm to table restaurant, I was very disappointed in the plant-based options. Only one of them had protein in it, and I have never seen a dish that is simply grilled cabbage and lentils for $20 on any menu. For the food we ate and the price we paid, I should have been more full, but instead left disappointed. Doe Bay is a magical place, and I will continue coming back, but considering this was my second visit in the last few years to the cafe and both were disappointing, I will just cook in my cabin and make my own plant-based options.
Cute little restuarant on an even cuter little island. Food was delicious and the drinks were well crafted. Dont forget the soaking tubs before or after dinner! Watching little Doe's run around in the snow 10 feet from you was the cherry on top!
Started with dessert first and delighted in some Judd Cove oysters, paired with the Kosher salt on lip-smacking Casamigos Blanco margaritas, warm bread and butter and followed it up with the crispy skin & buttery moist Steelhead as an entree. Enjoyed some folk music as there was a solo musician singing and playing guitar. Nice meal, intoxicating drinks and hospitable service with the elegant backdrop of Doe Bay. Good vibes. Can’t wait to come back!
The cheese plate was excellent and made a great appetizer. It would also work well after the entree.
