Located on the main floor of the Historic Ariel Hotel on Broadway, built in 1923, Dodie’s restaurant brings Lorain its first Italian-influenced coastal fare dining. Our menu takes what we love from traditional seaside food and gives it a contemporary, Italian twist.

Sitting dockside, Dodie’s remodeling pays homage to the building’s original architecture while harnessing the nautical spirit of Lake Erie’s coast. With local art and historical photographs, Dodie’s takes pride in being the place where you gather for the food, for the ambience, and especially for the community.

    Dodie's has become one of our favorite go-to places for any occasion! The menu is always evolving and excellent as always. I had the salmon mignon with crab meat! Outstanding! My wife had the stuffed shrimp which she enjoyed tremendously.

    Hardworking staff, but the restaurant is built on to of the hotel swimming pool and the smell of chlorine is overwhelming. I ordered two starters - clam cakes (very bready) and fried mozzarela sticks (acceptable). Fried fish was fair (not tasty fish) the fries were very good

    My husband I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the meal and service definitely added to the ambiance and enjoyment of the evening. The food was wonderful and the our server, Jessica, was charming. We have been to Dodie's before but feel that the meal was better this time. Keep it up!

    Spaghetti was almost warm. Meatballs were hot though. Took long time for someone to take drink order and bring drinks. Not worth money i payed for food

    Our party of six enjoyed our delicious meals, strong cocktails and decadent desserts! The wait staff were very nice and attentive. We were celebrating a birthday and received a complimentary dessert. We will definitely be back to see Jessica 😊

    First time at Dodie’s Dockside and we were very glad we tried it. Delicious calamari and Marsala chicken. Nice quiet ambiance and excellent service. Entrees are a little pricey but there are many items in the $15 range such as burgers, salad, pizza, etc.

    Our meal was superb! I had the Sea Bass and my husband ordered the salmon. We thoroughly enjoyed the Calamari we had for an appetizer. Will definitely be returning!

    We had amazing Fathers Day Dinner, the Calamari was the freshest, tastiest ever. We had a Chilean Seabass, Stuffed Salmon, and a Filet and everyone raved about how perfect everything was done, super friendly & responsive service, nice drink/wine options, we were all super pleased and will return soon. Well done

    We were celebrating a birthday and eating at Dodie’s Dockside for the first time! The server was busy but still accommodated our needs. The fish and chips were delicious, a huge portion of walleye instead of the usual cod fish. The Italian specialty dessert was a winner!

    Dodie's Dockside was a very nice place to have an anniversary dinner. The service was excellent along with the food. We were even treated to a dessert in honor of our anniversary. I will make it a point of visiting Dodie's again in the near future.

    We were unfamiliar with Lorain, but knew Dodies was located in a hotel building. We went in through the main entrance, but were a bit confused as to whether we were walking up to Dodies, or (just) an open eating area for the hotel. Both? Didn’t see signage specifically for Dodies. Anyway, once seated, we were pleased! The service was friendly and efficient, the food was very flavorful and delivered as promised. One minor gripe: the wonderful scallops over lobster risotto entree listed spinach on the menu, but we had to dig into the risotto to find a sliver or two. I would have enjoyed some sautéed spinach alongside. We’d recommend their food to others for sure!

    Right from the beginning, you are greeted with such a warm smile and such a pleasant atmosphere. Getting checked in was a breeze. Everyone there was very polite and everyone was smiling. Service was exquisite the food I can’t say enough about but delicious. The atmosphere there is very mellow and inviting. I will absolutely be coming back.

    First time for both of us, so everything exceeded expectations. Autumn served us and she was delightful. All the food presentations were creative, and the food itself was great. Wife had the salmon and she commented several times how well the whole entree came together; I had the linguini with clams...if I had anything negative to say it would be that one of the clams didn't open during cooking - not unusual - but the chef cracked it open and half of the shattered shell shards scattered throughout the dish making it a little tough to screen out the remnants while chowing down on the delicious preparation. We'll be back soon to discover more treasures though.

    In comparison to other restaurants in Lorain City, this establishment is OK. The soup was warm, not hot, cheese balls were good. My fish 'n chips were very good, and my wife' Sea Bass was warm and not hot. Expensive for average food.

    Always love dinner at Dodies! It was their first night with their new menu items and we loved it! The steak crostini was a perfect starter! My Chilean sea bass was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh and delicious! My date’s salmon was to die for and I will be getting that next time definitely! Our server, Jenna, was sweet and did her job perfectly. Our cocktails were yummy! We were going somewhere right after so skipped getting dessert to go this time. Thanks for a great evening!

    I think there may have been an issue being short staffed in the kitchen? We waited 75 minutes for our meal to be served. We had about three different waitresses repeatedly offering us bread as we waited. Appetizers were poor. Main courses average.

    Food was so delicious, and our waiter (Mitch - I think) was wonderful. After dinner we had a drink and dessert at the bar which had great live music. Will definitely be going back - worth the drive!
