It was noisy and the bar tender apparently forgot to add the alcohol to my mixed drink.
Just discovered this place last month, and as part of celebrating our 30th anniversary, took my wife here. Had made a note on my reservation about our celebration, and when we arrived, they had a private table for us with a bunch of candles. They then brought each of us a complementary glass of champagne that was delicious!
Just know, it's a little pricey, but the atmosphere and ambiance is especially unique and awesome. I absolutely recommend Dockum for a classy date night, or to have an awesome, historical speakeasy environment to connect with close friends. Love the staff, the atmosphere, the drinks, the food...ALL of it. A great experience you should have at least once.
Dockum is always a great time. The wait staff seemed non-plused for a Friday night at a high end bar, at one point we had to go to the bar to order our drink so our waitress could chat with some friends at another table.
This is unfortunately very common around Wichita: an amazing establishment with disinterested staff.
This was our first time at Dockum and it certainly won't be our last. The atmosphere was wonderful and the waitstaff were all polite and helpful. Though their website says to be patient while waiting on the drinks, we didn't find the wait time to be excessive, I've waited longer at other bars for a beer. The drinks are at a premium price, but they are premium drinks. If you are looking for a place to drink cheap and fast, this isn't it; but if you are looking for a place to sit, relax, and enjoy sipping drinks give Dockum a try.
We arrived a few minutes after their Happy Hour started. 2 of the 4 items we ordered were happy hour specials. However, when we got our bill, the 2 items were not reduced in price. Feel like they should have caught that.
The service was amazing and the food delicious! The drinks are a little pricy, however they are fun and yummy! Highly recommend!
Not as quiet as you'd expect
Drinks do take awhile (worth the wait for sure)
Drinks are interesting and very well made
Great drinks food and service. Was a great experience. We will be returning.
Drinks were too expensive and there was nothing really special about them. We were seated far away from the bar so we couldn’t see the bartender make our drinks. No live music.
Had reservations for 10:30 on Friday night, atmosphere was fantastic and the drinks were exceptional! The staff was quick and on top of things!
Did eat here but I respect the fact that they keep a simple menu and keep focus on their drink making abilities. Abby was a fantastic server who made excellent recommendations based on our tastes. The atmosphere and the walk leading in to Dockum created an experience that will keep me coming back. I cant say a negative thing about this place. With all apologies to Morts, this is the best place to have a drink in Wichita.
Noisier than expected, drinks were very pricey and small. I have to admit I was expecting a different, more relaxing experience. It was no different any other bar except I paid $70 for 4 very small drinks.
It’s was great. The group appreciated the service, drinks and appetizers. Requested a special dessert within the reservation but there was no record.
This was by far one of the coolest places I’ve ever been to! Such a great atmosphere! The staff was great and the drinks were the best I’ve ever had! I will definitely be coming back again :)
The service was just awful. We had to wait 30 minutes for our drinks, that were nothing special (a glass of wine and a draft beer). The server refused to write down our order and forgot about us repeatedly. Overall it was a very poor experience. It really put a damper on my 40th birthday party. We would have liked to have had more drinks and fun in your establishment.
For being touted as one of the more exclusive places to have cocktails and small bites, our waitress was not very friendly and certainly not very knowledgeable in the drink selections, or perhaps just lousy at making recommendations. I’ve been to the speakeasy on a couple of occasions, and really enjoy the atmosphere and the drinks are good.. I wouldn’t say “very” good, but good. It’s really about the atmosphere, and I admit disappointment when the drinks should be more of a high end experience, but fall short. Mainly if the servers were pleasant and pretended to actually be interested in making your experience great, the quality of the drinks wouldn’t matter as much. I will still go back, as it is still a great place to take folks from out of town for an evening of fun.
A fun little place to relax and unwind. I loved the idea of this speakeasy. Drinks r good and worth the price. Appetizers were nice to munch on and it's in the Ambassador hotel which has a fantastic staff and atmosphere for this neat bar.
One of our favorite places for beverages and a late evening experience.
Had a great time, drinks were fantastic and there was no struggle to talk to the person sitting next to you.
I gave this place 3 attempts and all 3 failed. First was on NYE and they were new so thought maybe just short staffed but then we went back again. Horrible drinks for the over priced menu. You sit for 30 min before anyone greets and never check back on you after you get a drink after the 45 min it took to get the drink. Mind you the second and third time was not even busy. I dont see this place lasting with $20 drinks for the wait with no customer service! I ordered wine and I liked my wine but the other 9 people ordered specialty drinks and not one drank it due the taste.
We really enjoyed our visit to Dockum! The ambiance is lovely, and we really appreciated the authentic vibe of a speakeasy while we were there. our server was very friendly and helpful too! My only warning would be that we spent $59.00 for my husband and me to each try two cocktails without ordering any food and before tip. With that said, this review required me to mark a star for food, but we did not try anything of the cuisine. Please disregard that section. Very pricy. It was great for a one time experience, but I am not sure we will be able to justify coming back.
We always have a wonderful time! Fun and different. The cocktails are a little pricey but they are all handcrafted and delicious! Definitely a fun night out!!!
Loved everything except for that the server seemed too busy and it was hard to get their attention.
Girls Night Out for a Bride to Be. Reserved the Vault for 14 close friends and family members. Ambience was perfect for their upcoming Gatsby themed wedding to follow the next day and the hotel was a beautiful accommodation for the couple and wedding guests who stayed there. Service was good but not outstanding. Vanessa had said she’d be “taking care of us” that evening ... disappointed she wasn’t there. Ordered 4 charcuterie boards for appetizers...the items were all placed on ONE large board and set at one end of our LONG rectangular table. It was way too heavy and large to PASS around the table! Had to ask the server to separate the food into two serving boards. It was awkward and disruptive. Two large boards placed at each end of the table would have been much better planning on their part. The upside was the cocktails were incredible and worth the short wait for “made to order”! Overall, it’s a unique gem in the heart of downtown. Our group moved up to the Sienna Tucson Steakhouse for an incredible dinner ... from a customized dinner menu for our party. Thank you, Ambassador Staff for a memorable evening! A special kudos to our Sales Associate, Alex, who was our go to guy for the event!
Very nice place, not to the point of black tie but you should at least wear a collared shirt. The cocktails are very finely crafted but come at a high price. This is a place for those who know what they like to drink, or for adventurous people.
My boyfriend and I had a nice time at Dokums. Due to the pricey drinks we will come back on special events. Great service!
Everything was great but was a little disappointed that there was a huge party that was very rowdy and made it hard to hear.
No doubt, this was a unique and special place in its day. Unfortunately, that day is over. Dockum is nothing it advertises itself to be. There is nothing special about getting in, whereas in times past it required a reservation AND a password to gain entrance. Service is absolutely terrible and not because it takes so much time to craft their libations either... it’s terrible because they are understaffed and it’s obvious that nobody with any decent management experience is in charge. Such a sad situation for a place that has tons of potential in the right hands.
Way too loud. It’s like any normal bar for twenty - thirty year old. Again, not at all as advertised.
Save yourself the trouble and skip this place if you think it’s going to be anything as advertised. I look forward to someone else running it and making it what it should be.
Aside from the mediocre service from our waitress, we absolutely love this place!! One of a kind gem. If you can find it, you’ll enjoy it.
Some of the food ran out, which, for $65/person, should not have happened. Some of the servers were excellent and others lacked attentiveness, but overall, it was a really great night. The Murder Mystery was a ton of fun and we love, love, loved dressing up for a theme!
It was loud!! Service was horrible! Our waiter had NO personality, very condescending! A $20 drink and it sucked... well sir you ordered it, it stays in your tab. Then you put gratituity in place automatically!!!! BS, No wonder he sucked, had nothing to work for! Not the same place...... had been there two other times..... this experience was horrible..... across the board staff was not helpful!!
The place is way too big for a speakeasy, lighting is way too bright. Also, drinks took over 25 min and we were the only ones there. We even had a reservation and it took the server 10 minutes to greet us.
My favorite place to go!
Terrible service. 15 minutes to get our drink. 30 minutes to get the waitresses attention and check.
It took us 40 minutes to get our drinks. Yes they hand squeeze each drink ect, which was what drew us to this bar, but we ordered a glass of wine and a Moscow mule. The server was apologetic about the wait but still it was pretty ridiculous. The atmosphere was pretty low key and dark which we enjoyed, just not waiting on our drinks for 40 min
Fun experience with great craft drinks. Was fun to experience what a speakeasy must have been like during prohibition..
A nice secret place. Great for amazing drinks. Atmosphere. But bring your plastic. This place is high quality and you pay for it.
The drinks took a very long time to finally reach our table. My two Manhattans were not the best. The basement area smelled musty.
The main concern was the waitress who tried to be overly friendly, tried to be a part of our conversation, even tried to be "cute" and witty, even mimicking me clearing my throat. I had to stand up and ask if she wanted to join us! We did not need her input to have a good time. I asked to see the manager who I think understood what I was talking about. A waitress doesn't have to ask if we want our water glasses to be filled up. A waitress is a server and needs to fulfill that primary activity first. She is not part of the party. The other waitress was a newcomer who kept saying that she was new. Ok, we got it. Try and bring back the drinks before they get cold.
Very cool! Definitely will be back. The friendly and helpful staff topped it off for a good time!
Such a cool environment, super friendly staff, and drinks are wonderful!
