DOC Wine Bar - Lombard
Welcome to D.O.C Wine Bar - Lombard. We are elated to serve you as your neighborhood wine bar and bistro. We believe that wine is the "nectar of the gods" and should be enjoyed by all, novices and connoisseurs alike.
While we take what we do seriously, first and foremost, we believe drinking wine should be fun. It is our goal to offer a large variety of wine spanning the globe without any of the factors that may cause intimidation and hinder your enjoyment.
Established in 1963 and implemented in 1966, the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) ("Controlled Denomination of Origin") is Italy's equivalent to France's APPELLATION D'ORIGINE CONTRÔLÉE. DOC's are defined by the geographic area of production for each wine, the varieties that can be used, the minimum alcohol content, the maximum yield, and the specifications for aging.
Wine seems a bit overpriced but otherwise a vey good spot
We have a 7:00pm reservation and were seated right away. We sat at our table for 35 minutes without acknowledgment. One server did try to serve us someone else’s dinner but that was the only interaction we had with the staff. Worst service I have ever had. Needless to say we left at that point and on our way out a server said “thanks for dinning with us.” Ha.
Service was great. Staff was attentive. Portions were small and prices were high.
It was our Anniversary and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly, helpful and comped us some champagne for our anniversary! We had a lovely time and the food was great too!
we were just gonna get the crispy brie (best appetizer ive had in a while) and a large butchers plate of cheese and meat but all the menu items looked so good that we ended up getting the Cubano which was also amazing and the Brie and Apple Flarbread! Such great food and we were able to take the panini and flatbread home which reheated fine! most definitely will be coming back soon
Always a great experience at the Wine Doc. I took my daughter there for the excellent focaccia and cheese board. The following week went back with my best friend and her sister. We are never rushed, service is friendly and environs. Food is great!
We all really liked this place. The charcuterie board was awesome and the burgers were really good too. Nice wine list as well.
The only downside was our waiter who was impatient and seemed completely annoyed that he had to wait on us. Fortunately there was this other girl (just like a bus/water girl who was absolutely delightful...we actually tipped her).
Girls night out! Great wine selection and wonderful cocktails (french twist martini) plus delicious starters: polenta fries and chorizo stuffed dates. Comfort food for dinner- carolina sliders, grilled cheese and cuban sandwich. Just all around great dining experience with great friends. I would highly recommend D.O.C.
Nice atmosphere and appetizers for our girl’s get together
Great food, service, and wine! Will return soon!!
Food was very good. Service pleasant. We had the polenta fries and wrapped chorizo as starters, salmon and one of the hamburgers as the entrée. The polenta fries were very good. Those who had the chorize seemed to like the dish. The salmon was accompanied by asparagus and lemon and a reasonably OK tartar sauce. The table had 1 chocolate cookie + ice cream desert. Decent wine list and on Tuesdays, all glasses under $15 are half off. Makes the price for some of the wines reasonable.
All in all we would go back.
Good selection for a flight and tasty food that can be shared.
They gave us the table we wanted which I really appreciated. I love the ambiance.
We have been to DOC a handful of times over the course of a few years and it never disappoints.
The food always tastes great and they continually update both the food and wine menus with new options.
Dishes are fun to share (especially the Filet Sliders).
It's a great spot to go as a couple or with a group of friends. The ambiance is casual and classy and the staff is always attentive and knowledgable. Now that I read my review you might think that I work for DOC. I don't. But I do wish that they were closer to my home. We would frequent it more often!
We had wine and several appetizers rather than dinner because there were so many interesting appetizers. We started with a cheese board, which you get to choose 4 or 8 of the bruschettas, cheeses and meats. All were excellent. We had their bacon wrapped dates in some kind of flavorful pepper sauce, polenta fries, some kind of peppers that were delicious, and a fried brie. We finished with dessert. We enjoyed everything. Service was good, ambience was warm and cozy. We would return for sure.
This was our first time here. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely return. Great deals on wine and starters. Delicious food and wine.
I love this place for the nice wine selection and interesting food. Love the casual atmosphere with sophistication! Never disappoints.
Wonderful food and drinks. We will definitely plan to come back.
Good food, good drinks, great ambiance. I love this place.
The service was ok. Waitor had bit of an attitude. Every one of us felt that. A friend of mine felt that it seemed like we were bothering him by just asking him a simple question.
We had a great experience! The food and service were excellent. We also ordered a flight a champagne. Then had a small butchers plate, the ny steak and Tony B’s rigatoni...all delicious!
The food and wine were fine. Nothing special. The service was good. We might go back, but I could take it or leave it. The tab was over $100 for two of us, which consisted of 2 glasses of wine, a cheese/meat platter, 1 sandwich and 1 dessert. The value was pretty poor, but we had a good time.
Perfect spot to catch up with friends and take our time snacking and wine tasting!
A wonderful setting for catching up with friends, a date or a small group. Not sure about wine pairings with the food - ask you educated server! The staff are great resources to help you with your food and wine and to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. I met a coworker to catch up. We had never been here before and enjoyed our wine, food, service and ambiance. It's quiet enough to have a thoughtful conversation yet busy enough not to worry about the next table overhearing your conversation. Can't wait to go back!
We love DOC. Good food, both small plates and meals. Desserts are excellent! Wine list is very complete and interesting.
Food was delicious and service was awesome!! Very friendly and attentive.
The Rigatoni and the Brick Chicken were excellent. Very tasty. My dining companion and I were planning to split both and they served us each 1/2 of each without our asking, and beautifully presented. I ordered a glass of white wine (Verdejo) that the server recommended and told me was acidic, which I like, and it was excellent and not expensive. The dessert, creme brulee was perfectly executed. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
I love everything about this restaurant from the dimmed lighting and ambiance to the staff. The food was really good. We ordered the chicken salad and fish tacos and they had my favorite red wine which was a nice surprise. I loved the ease of making a last minute reservation. It's a hidden gem!
We had a great time and our bartender/waiter was great! Just be prepared for a loud meal if it’s busy!! But it’s still worth it!
My favorite special perfect restaurant when I come home to Chicago! Always amazing and fun!!
This was my first visit to DOC. I tried the “Fame” wine flight. I only liked 1 of the 3. Very strange flavors in the last two options (herbal). We had the crispy Brie appetizer. It was okay. Not extremely flavorful. The tortilla soup was good, but very spicy. I like spice, my husband does not. I think he broke out in a full sweat. The ultimate grilled cheese was delicious. I shared the filet sliders with my hubby. They were very bland. The service was excellent. All of the people we interacted with were extremely friendly and attentive. It was an decent meal, just a little lack luster for the price.
Closes early on a Friday night
I have gone to DOC wine bar several times and this was the first time I’ve had horrible service. Our server was just very short and without any social skills. He asked what to you want... do you more ice tea.... and also took away our plates and tossed the silverware onto the table. No checking to see how everything was. Just acted as if we were doing him a favor. I actually liked this place a lot and I brought my friends there to celebrate a birthday. It was very disappointing.
DOC is our favorite place to go out, and my husband’s birthday was no exception. We loved the calamari and Brie/apple flatbread. The service was excellent as usual. We will definitely be back! Oh, and we appreciated the birthday treat! :)
Very unique food options and a huge wine list as you would expect.
Service was great - food wonderful. Prices a little high but no other complaints.
Bathroom could be cleaner though.
Fun to catch up with a friend over nice wine / dinner.
Have been to this restaurant in the past. Great wine list. Love the butcher block cheese and crackers. Everything was very good.
One of my favorite places to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner.
The food and wine were excellent! All four of us greatly enjoyed our meals and will return!
1st time dining, very welcoming, great service, will definitely visit again.
