This was, hands down, the best Chile Relleno I've ever had, so that's why I'm rating this lunch experience so high. I've eaten here many times, and the food has always been at least good, but this dish was spectacular. Good table service, as always, and fair prices. My wife had a Navajo taco, open rather than folded, and loaded with great ingredients. Just a great place for a lunch.
Bingo! Hit the mark - I did the Carne Asada and my bride of 36 years did the New Mexico Steak. Very good meal and service from Sarkis was knowledgeable and professional- highly recommend!
The food was excellent and there was a great band in the bar area that was quite fun too!
Another over rated restaurant with no positives in any area. My chili relleno was disgusting. The crust was too hard, the pepper was not cooked and there was too much cheese oozing out. No flavor - terrible. My partner had the steak of the day; it was tender but had no crust or seasoning. The ambiance was terrible as we were seated in the center and had two large groups making lots of noise. Taos must have better options!
Been going to New Mexico since 1965. Doc Martin's is a favorite destination. Food is not as good as it used to be. Red and green chile are both rather bland. Boring rice is served instead of posole. Outside dining was no longer available. Orlando's has better chile and has posole, but the atmosphere there is less than ideal and not very relaxing being right on a noisy highway with a hurried, busy, crowded feel. It is too bad that there is no New Mexican cuisine in Taos that is as good as The Shed and La Choza in Santa Fe. We actually prefer Taos to Santa Fe as a location but the New Mexican food is currently better in Santa Fe. Service was rather slow and aloof at first but improved after a large tour bus group departed. Cowboy Buddha margarita was very good.
This was an exceptional meal, was a slight glitch with too many online reservations but well with the wait. Would go back again.
The chile relleno was the best I ever had! Excellent service, outstanding atmosphere!
We ate dinner at Doc Martin's on our second night at the Taos Inn. I made a reservation on line through Open Table for 6pm. When we arrived the dining room was empty, but the adjacent bar area was full. the hostess proceeded to escort us to a table for 2 that was jammed between a bar stool and 2 other tables. It was located right against the wall next to a window with the bright sunlight coming in. I can not adequately describe how close we were to the other diners at the adjacent tables. We were almost rubbing shoulders. I made a joke about it, expecting the hostess to sit us in the dining room, but that was not to be. When they came in the middle of our meal to lower the shades on the sun lighted window, I actually had to stand up and move down the bar area to an open space. They did eventually start sitting people in the dining room, but we had to suffer in our tight surroundings. Having said this, the food was good. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and I had the chili rellenos.
My family was visiting Taos New Mexico. Using Open Table’s recommendation we ate at Doc Martin’s. We had wonderfully efficient and friendly server, Rachel. The hostess, Jane, greeted us with a dazzling smile and a manner that set the mood for the wonderful experience that lay ahead. All of us ordered the tri -tip dinner. The steak was done to perfection as was the polenta that complemented the meal. We had an amazing time. and would recommend Doc Martin’s to one and all.
Ignored by staff. Left
Always a good experience....
Celebrated our anniversary here. Our request for a more private table was honored and appreciated. We ordered the Chili Rellenos and split it because it was so much food. Very good but a bit overpriced. Nice server too.
We ate at Doc Martin's twice in one week and both times were perfect. Everyone was very happy with their food choices, drink choices and the atmosphere. The first time we dined inside and the second time we were on the patio. After dinner we enjoyed live entertainment in the adjoining Taos Inn. Very enjoyable evening.
Another very good dinner at Doc Martin’s. The Chile rel kenos were quite tasty, and the green Chile sauce was good but not too hot. My wife’s Green Chile cheeseburger was also excellent. Service was efficient and friendly. All in All a good meal.
Great place for 50th Anniversary!! Friendly server. Food up to expectation.
We were in town for a music festival and tried Doc Martin’s the first day because it was so convenient to the park. Food was so good, we returned for dinner, then lunch the next day, then brunch on our last day. The homemade buns made for excellent sandwiches, and fries were hand cut and excellent.
Best chili rellenos in the state! Try the Hatch chili infused margarita!
Didn’t have our open table reservation.Beer was warm and the food was not served hot.
Though the menu is short the choices were excellent. We had the taco combo and green chile cheeseburger. Both were excellent. Presentation was very good and the chef knows how to deliver delicious layers of flavor. The server was inexperienced but was very courteous and attentive. We had reservations for a late August weekday lunch but there was plenty of room.
We asked for outside seating and they cleaned off a table just for us! They hadn't been using this area. Our nesks were wonderful scallops and bison steak. Good wine choices. Looked at their frujt and veggie garden after after dinner. Highly recommend.
We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the bison and scallops! Both excellent choices. If you find yourself in Taos again, we hope you'll come back and see us.
Great place part of the old Taos Inn. Had Brunch good was excellent as was the staff.
I never forget Doc Martin's as one of the many delicious options to choose from in Taos.
Food was devoured by everyone at the table in no time. It is crowded, sure.. but still dig the overall ambiance.
Doc Martin's is a great locals as well as tourist destination. It's very consistent with its quality & variety of offerings. This time my friend & I were seated right next to the bar which had a boisterous group which made our conversation difficult until they left. That's something that can't be controlled.
Wonderful experience and customer service. Excellent food!!
Thank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. If you find yourself in Taos again, we hope you'll come back and see us.
We have been to Doc Martin's many times, but now the limited menu, the emphasis on items such as a "5 ounce filet" and other mediocre standard items is disappointing. The "mole chicken half" featured a very small bird with overcooked white meat even though the breast and leg quarter were served separately, thus allowing variable cooking if the kitchen bothered. The mole was excellent. The service was pleasant but unskilled.
Very much appreciated the regional cuisine/menu. It is a lively atmosphere and provided more of a flavor of the area and its food than we expected from on-line information. Our meals were delicious!
Great margaritas (Cowboy), tortilla soup and chile relleno. Love the ambiance as well. True SW and true NM.
We love brunch @ Doc's. However, the staffing has been less than par and at this particular time, we were not able to sit outside because of that. Also since the bartenders have changed so often, we are not able to get our Mimosas the way we like them which colors the entire experience. Hope for better management and staffing.
We waited an hour after our reservation time before our order was taken in an almost empty restaurant. One of our orders was presented to the table cold. Apparently there was a significant shortage of staff. While our waitress was excellent, she could not be expected to provide quality service with an inadequate Staff.
Excellent food and service. Somewhat limited menu for some customers but still covers most of the bases. The bartender was very knowledgeable about drinks and ingredients.
Loved it. My husbands steak which was the special was very tough. Everyone else’s food was wonderful.
Enjoyed dining in the patio of such a historic building. We ordered chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and local beers. Our service was very slow, which impacted our rating.
Good place with a bit of history.
We had not been in Taos for several years and Doc Martin Restauarant was our first choice for dinner. It did not disappoint. We ordered the scallops and carne asada entrees which were excellent. Good service.
Everything just as we remembered.
We decided to try Doc Martin’s based on recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed to say the least. The meal, service, bar and wine list were very good. Our server, Rachel was responsive to our group. I especially liked the bar and wine list which contained many local, New Mexico producers like Vivac winery.
Our dinner arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. Again, our server never missed a beat and had great dessert (Key Lime Pie, Choclatini) after dinner drink recommendations. All in all, a great time and great meal at Doc Martin’’s. We will be back.
Always good food, especially the chile rellenos which are crispy and not at all soggy. Plus, in addition to the rellenos, the menu has TWO vegetarian main dish options. Kudos to Doc Martins for providing more than one veggie dish!
Ate there twice during our stay. Dinner was great, brunch was disappointing. Been going to brunch there for years, they've change some items for the worse and deleted some favorites, like the rellenos. Won't be back for brunch.
Service and atmosphere were great and the food was excellent. The Adobe Bar attached look like a great place to hangout either before or after dinner.
Had scallops and risotto. Both were salty. Husband had troutvwhich he thoughtvwas ok. Had a FABULOUS appetizer of goat cheese and a baguette , with garlic and tomatoes ( in balsamic). Drinks and service were good
Great meal at a reasonable price. Really good service.
