Service was great, wine pours just ok, Asian chicken burnt, portions ok, bit pricing on alcohol
One of the best dining experiences i’ve ever had. I will recommend Doc Magrogan’s to anybody i possibly can. I loved it! They have earned a loyal customer for life.
The braised short rib was the best piece of meat i’ve had in years, and i’m a quality cook in my own right.
We also ordered a Lobster Knuckle Sandwich to-go, and ate it the next day. It was extraordinary!
Restaurant is called oyster bar. Out of raw clams and only had choice of four oysters. Food was average at best. Wouldn’t go back second time.
Contrary to some reviews we had a good experience at Doc Macgrogans. Wings and dumplings were very good. I had the short rib dinner which was excellent. My husband had short rib tacos.
End-of-summer dinner with my husband and our two adult children. Food was wonderful, service was great. I love the upscale beachy charm of this place. We were looking for a special meal for our last night together for a while and we found it. This was a perfect end to a perfect summer in Sea Isle!
Watered down Drinks, Steamed Clams that had never opened up, 2 people sick from the Calamari. Very disappointing.
The service was good and they were attentive to my son with allergies, but the food was beyond bad. Calamari had more hot pepper pieces than actual calamari and my halibut was awful, over cooked and tasteless. Just a really underwhelming dining experience.
Food is overpriced as are the drinks- may skip this next time.
This is the first time we ever ate here and the restaurant did not disappoint. The food was amazing and fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever at the Jersey Shore.
The scallops and the chicken dishes were undercooked
My daughter had the lobster tacos and I had the short rib tacos and they were both amazing!! Had the peanut butter mousse sampler as well as salted chocolate brownie mousse - also awesome! Our server was wonderful.
Will not be back. The food was not good. My son got the special of pork and it was dry. My husband got the halibut and had no taste. I got the Doc wood seafood plate and it had no flavor. The Brussels ceaser salad was good. The price of my wine was over priced.
Except for our bartender, who knew about a gimlet, our entire experience was awful. Sorry, can't really said anything good about the food. Also, the bar loudness was deafening.
I made reservations to seat at a regular table and they sat us at a high top which we didn’t want and singer wasn’t good. Someone serving a drink spilled it on someone in our party
This is a great restaurant and food is always good. We mostly go to the restaurant for seafood but they had a pork tenderloin special that was amazing. The only drawback was when I signed up on OpenTable for the reservation it was delineated if I wanted standard seating or high top and I said I didn’t want high top seating. When we got there they did not seat us immediately and we waited a while and then when we were seated, they proceeded to bring us to the high tops. So the only reason why I didn’t balk is because everybody in the party said it was OK because we had waited long enough. I did not appreciate that and what’s the sense of asking the question in the first place if you don’t abide by it?
This is a beautifully appointed restaurant, good food, we love that you can make a reservation. The noise level at the seating around the bar is loud. Next time we will try to get seated in the dining room.
Service was good and food was tasty but disappointed in serving sizes and plating. Meals weren’t balanced with veggies and starches. My meal was not as the menu described it
First let us say our service was great — Mark our waiter handled the night perfectly. Now the oysters were also top notch as expected, thus why we ate 3 dozen +. The issues came with our entrees. Both the salmon on the wood fire platter and the fish and lobster tacos had over cooked fish. The salmon was incinerated on the bottom. The server Mark did ask the Chef for a new piece of Salmon and this one came out perfectly, smelling of wood fired oven and moist inside. Finally the ahi tuna was served missing the Jersey corn salsa too. To sum it up the service was great we enjoyed our drinks, the atmosphere and our server Mark, but the food was subpar with the exception of the oysters. This was our third year doing date night here. We probably will find a new place next year or just go for oysters
Nice looking place , but there was a dead fly on table and a few fly around , food was average
The entire family had a great time. The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. We actually ate there all three nights of our stay.
Service was great. We always enjoy the food but the fried seafood was marginal and the calamari had too many peppers disguised as calamari. We love the atmosphere!
Food was good but noise level not energetic but too loud to have any conversation.
Our server was excellent.
The fish was over cooked and had very little in the way of sides on the plate. Kind of strange and not similar to our experience last year. Service was excellent as were the apps.
Always a good meal. Service was quick and food was good. Love the oyster selections.
Wife and I really enjoyed the drinks, dinner, and ambiance. Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends.
Great oysters and food. Service was great and a nice menu.
Wonderful experience. The service was great but not overbearing and the food was out of this world. It’s a keeper for our family.
Service is usually very good but the most recent time we went it wasn’t the best. Staff took 15 min to bring silverware and napkins even though we already had our food and we had asked 3 times.
We've been to Doc's many times, last Friday evening we took some friends there for their first time. While the food was great (we got the shrimp noodle dish, tuna tartar, wings and crab dip) our service was below average. When our waitress would come to the table, and she would only come if we flagged her down, she would only take an order from one person and quickly turn her back and walk away....if you have four people at a table and one person is ordering another drink, wouldn't you want to make your life easier by asking the rest of the table if they need something? It was actually comical at one point. I'm sure we'll go back, but if the poor service continues we most likely won't be recommending them.
Service was very slow and inconsistent. Food was delicious
Waitress was not very attentive and food was cold.
I have been here many times but brought a cousin from out of town there for the first time. I knew to expect good food and good service, but my cousin didn’t and she was thoroughly impressed with your restaurant. Our food was delicious and our waitress was wonderful. Our only minor complaint would be the noise level, of course. We were not seated by the bar, but in the next room. And it was very loud. Wish you could do something about the acoustics. There was live music playing when we left, and I was really good. But we couldn’t really hear it too well where we were. But overall the experience was wonderful.
Good service & food selection
Great drinks and good food. It’s very loud so if you’re looking for an intimate atmosphere this isn’t the place.
Food was very good , staff is friendly and attentive.
So many things went wrong with our dining experience at Doc’s. Our server was nice but clearly either hasn’t been waiting tables long, was overextended or both. Wrong drink for one person in our party to start...no biggie. We tell her at the onset that we’ve not eaten much all day and all are very hungry. Lucky for us our short rib flatbread comes out quick. It’s cold and lacking flavor but we devour it nonetheless. We also ordered 6 oysters, 12 were brought instead. The runner who dropped them at our table couldn’t tell us which oysters were which and giggled when we asked her to clarify. Finally our waitress reappears. We explain the error in the amount of oysters, she takes them away. 10 minutes later she reappears now with 8 and explains two are on the house!?!! We are literally starving by now! 15 more minutes go by before we see our server again. We order another round of drinks. Again, our server doesn’t check in or apologize for the delay with our entrees and is again nowhere to be found. 15 minutes later I visit the hostess stand to see what’s going on with our entrees. It’s a Tuesday night, our reservation was for 7:30, it’s now 9:00!!!! The young girls at the hostess stand are apologetic but too young and clearly not seasoned enough to properly handle the situation. Our entrees arrive 10 minutes later and all four members of our party agreed their meals were unsatisfactory. Between us we had the shrimp noodle bowl, salmon, filet, and the crab cakes. If you’re looking for a delicious meal, good service, and delicious oysters, take a drive over to Stone Harbor to Quahog’s. The only thing I would come back to Doc’s for are the cocktails...after this experience they were the only thing worth coming back for. Delicious jalapeño margarita...thumbs down for everything else.
Noticed it was very loud upon entering the Dining area. Decor was nicely
Done. Oysters were good for buck a shuck night and that was the only thing worth complimenting. Entrees were cold on half the plate warm on the other. Bathrooms were messy. All but one entree came out for our party. We ended up canceling it. Very disappointed. Might be a good spot for bar food and drinks.
Steampots were not available and didn’t tell us until we tried to order one, reason was not really clear and it seems they haven’t been doing for awhile. Calamari was good but had a lot of breading and not air of calamari. Crab dip was good. Husband ordered seafood chowder and was watery. Fish and chips were ok tasting but portion was more like a kid size. We ordered 2 salmon dishes and only one came out. They had to place order for second salmon and we were almost done eating when it came out. Our daughter started to eat and was not cooked a the way and raw.
In the past we have really enjoyed coming to this restaurant but something changed and we did not enjoy. We won’t be coming back
Been here many times and the food was just not good this time - very disappointing
We enjoyed ourselves and the food was great. The service was not as friendly or attentive as we would have liked. But overall we liked it.
