We've been here a few times. Our best was during the off season. On almost evert occasion it was very difficult to get a drink from the bar, noise level was high for dining due to the bar being centrally located (would be better if the bar were in the farther room), beers and drinks are overpriced and wait staff seems very rushed. During our last visit our bill took three tries before it was correct-was double the amount due to a computer error. Felt like our fault by the way it was presented to us. Probably be awhile before we return.
What a tremendous experience visiting for Easter Brunch and from our family we thank Patrick and his Team.
Food was a bit average for the Easter Brunch, as well as the service. Great location and venue, they could do so much more with this....especially the Bar area!
About 25% occupied--not bad for an off-season weekend. They had a good singer/guitarist, which was a nice surprise. Good food; nice portions; great friendly and helpful waitress.
Great place for a bite with my family. Food was very fresh and drinks were delicious.
With the 2 guitar players it was rather loud and could not hear the people at my table.
We were very disappointed with our experience as a whole. Our reservations were for 6:30 and the band started, in the main dining room at 7:00. This is much to early as people are still having dinner and trying to have conversations. Further, our meal was not good. The sides that were explained as part of each entree were not the sides that were accompanying our main dish. The crab cakes were dry and the steak we ordered as well done came out rare. It is disappointing because the oysters were great, but we are unsure if that is enough for us to give it a second chance.
Just bought a house nearby and was hoping this would be a go to place. Service was very poor and it did not appear they were at all ready to handle the Polar Bear Plunge weekend crowd. Had a reservation but no table was available for 30 minutes, they totally forgot to bring one entrée and said they would comp appetizers but they were on the bill.
Another forgettable experience! We booked a table for an early New Year's eve get together. We found out our only option was a "fixed menu" consisting of salad, soup, deserts and a few appetizers / entries for $45 per person. Adding drinks and tips would've pushed it to a $350 night for the four of us! This one was "shame on me" for booking online and not calling to get details. We had a drink and found a better alternative. NYE is often a fixed menu time. Lesson learned.
Over the last year and a half we have been here five times and had everything from a burger to surf and turf among us. Always a good meal, nice servers. Highly recommend
It was the last weekend before closing for the season. The menu was limited. Otherwise, all was great.
Went with friends for girls night out...a very positive experience. We had reservations and were seated within a few minutes. We ordered drinks and Asiago Flatbread for an appetizer. The reason I couldn't give the food 5 stars was because the Flatbread was so heavily salted. Three of us had the Cedar Salmon and it also had a bit too much salt although it was cooked perfectly. The asparagus was crisp tender and delicious, while the carrots were a bit on the raw side. The fish tacos received high praise from the other member in our group. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall we really enjoyed the evening and would not hesitate to go back.
Delicious oysters and fish tacos - attractive decor - pleasant staff
We had a wonderful dinner!! Atmosphere was amazing
A hidden gem!!
Will definitely be back next time we are in town!!!
Reservation was for 7:00 PM. The restaurant was not ready for us and others were waiting. We sat at the bar and the service was not much better. We were finally seated in the bar area for dinner at 7:30 with the choice to wait longer if we wanted a regular table. Half of the food menu items were not available to be ordered, available items were highlighted. Waitress service was very good, food preparation time seemed long, but the waitress was attentive and kept us updated. Food was generally good, except my short rib tacos were very short on meat. My wife's noodle bowl was better.
In general the restaurant seemed to not be ready for a Saturday night. The lack of items on the menu was surprising. Given the wait and the lack of menu items, this restaurant doesn't seem like a good choice out of the summer season.
Great shore-town spot... modern, sparse decor, open layout, casual but tidy, quick but well-paced service. The martini was generous, the oysters were fresh and of good variety, and dinner was casual but well-conceived.
Good service , kid friendly, menu has good variety
Only complaint... did not see sign outside in the dark. Loved everything else! Would definately go back!
I would recommend this restaurant for maybe appetizers and drinks at the bar. Our appetizer was a good and my Drink was good. Entrees were flavorless, crab cakes were the worst I ever had. Mostly made of inexpensive shredded up crab with a couple pieces of jumbo lump. The sauce was bland also. I was very disappointed.
Servers are wonderful! Great neighborhood bar/restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. Perfect place to watch sporting events.
I enjoyed my meal, but it took 45 minutes to come. Mine was hot, but my husband's was not. The waitress apologized when I commented nicely that it had taken a long time, but she did not get a manager to compensate us in any way. I very much liked the look and decor, but it was extremely loud and I hated all of the televisions at the bar. I think it has a little bit of an identity crisis. The menu has some nice variety and I enjoyed the options.
Dinner was delicious. The spinach soup while very good was salty. I wouldn't get that again. 4 out of 5 of us ordered seafood and one steak. The seafood was cooked properly and we all loved the smoked flavor the grill added. We had the chocolate salted caramel for dessert - delicious and well priced. We plan to return again. We have been to Doc's before for cocktails and apps but this was our first time for dinner. We are hoping the quality doesn't differ in the heat of the season.
Fun place for a night out. Service is quick and friendly. Food is good quality and plentiful.
Dollar Oyster night was excellent, the rest of the meal was beyond average & bland and extremely overpriced for the quality of the plates, also had a few lousy drinks that needed to be remade or changed due to poor taste
Raw oysters were delicious. Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. All of us had a seafood dish and were very happy with our choices. Also indulged in a dessert. Brianna was our server and was very efficient and very pleasant. Used to go the the West Chester location and was sorry to see it close. It's a shame there isn't one closer to me. Would definitely recommend Doc's.
Great food and pleasant atmosphere. I always enjoy the seafood combo.
Excellent food, great service, wonderful cocktails.
We've been here about 6 times since they opened and have had a wide variety of experiences/service. The acoustics are not good almost anywhere you sit, unless restaurant isn't crowded. there was live music playing which was great, but the din of conversation overpowered the music. Our service was good considering how busy they were. The manager seemed angry and overwhelmed when people came without reservations.
This was a return to Doc's after a mediocre experience in their first season. We went for the Labor Day Crab Fest. The buffet set up for the evening was fine, but the food was barely warm and on several visits to the buffet items like crab legs had run out. We finally got crackers to open the crab legs from the table next to us as none were available from the kitchen. At $50 per for the crab fest we expected better. That said, our server Brianna was excellent and very attentive to our table. Sadly I still rate this as just an average restaurant and certainly not a replacement in any sense of the word for Busch's!!
Great time on date with wife. Nice hanging out together...away from hustle bustle for a min. Martini...amazing!!! Food excellent....but read carefully about the oyster special....(they were very good though)
Looked forward to a nice dinner with my husband, mom and 3 kids. They put us in the banquet room, loud piped-in music, over priced mixed drinks missing a 3rd of the contents.
Have been here a few times, always under-whelmed $300 + later.
Service however was great. Food just ok
Food and service were excellent. A bit on the pricey side but not over the top. Seafood was very fresh and flavorful. Nice variety of drinks and beers. Very busy and on the noisier side but not obnoxious. Enjoyed the evening very much. Atmosphere was bright and cheery and fits right in with the Jersey shore.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Doc's so much! The mussels were out of this world! We had to ask for extra bread so we didn't let the amazing broth go to waste. You could really have eaten it with a spoon. It was that delicious. The sesame shrimp is off the chart fabulous. The bed of slaw with the thinly sliced yellow peppers set it off jus right. My husband had the swordfish and I had the short rib tacos. All so fresh and delicious. I can't say enough about the service. It was top notch. Our server was Christine and she was a pleasure. She was extremely busy hustling from table to table as happy as can be. She was super attentive and she knew the menu options thoroughly. As busy as the restaurant was, she checked on our table frequently and gladly took care of all of our requests. If you are looking for a quiet dinner this is not the place. It is very loud in the dining room. However, I would not let that stop me from having a fabulous meal for a very reasonable price. We loved it!!
Had a delicious meal . Waitress mixed up our drinks thought they should have been replaced since we both drank fro wrong. Drink .
We went for Dinner and the $1 oysters. Our server, Stephanie, was excellent and explained everything on the menu. We had a gluten intolerant guest with us and she made sure what ever we ordered was ok for our guest to have. All our dinners were very good and my husband loved to variety of oysters. We will be back with a new group of guests next week!
We had a wonderful experience at Doc McGrogans. The service was top notch and the food was excellent. We enjoyed "buck a shuck" night and had two dozen oysters from 4 different regions. They were great. We will definitely return soon. Great ambiance and a fun place.
Service was "odd" in quotes
We were only told about 2 specials but luckily overheard other wait staff providing the full menu. Not a big deal but we were delivered one glass of water for a table of two. When we asked if we could have another the response was " if you like" (deadpan). Scallops were gritty. portions were good. Swordfish was delicious.
It stands in contrast because we were in doc's oyster house in AC the following night and the food and service were outstanding.
Enjoyed our meals but did not like being seated on the cafeteria side of the restaurant. Felt no ambiance in comparison to the other dining area and was disappointed. Also was too loud on that side.
Excellent!! Love Doc's Great place to meet your friends!
Great bar and good food--loved the live music!! we wil come back!
