Doc Magrogan's Fish Market Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I chose Doc Magrogan's to start off our New Year's Eve celebration. Thankfully, we made reservations beforehand, arrived and were seated promptly. Our server also promptly greeted us and took our drink orders. This being our first dining experience at Doc Magrogan's, he also explained the menu to us, as well as their special New Year's Eve menu options. We started with the Lobster Mac & Cheese, which was delicious, cheesy goodness. Very tasty but would have liked a little more lobster or bigger pieces of it. For our main course, we chose the special surf & turf option (14 oz Porterhouse and Lobster tail with sides of Horseradish mashed potatoes and green beans) and Pan-seared Scallops with butternut risotto and cranberry relish. The lobster tail and scallops were prepared to perfection, as was the steak. All in all a VERY delicious meal with prompt and perfectly-timed, friendly service. We will definitely return next time we're in town again.
The mussel appetizers although plenty were extremely tiny. The seafood Cobb salad was good and fish and chips as well. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My complaint would be that we were seated at a very small booth and the restaurant wasn't crowded.
Lobster Bisque was tasty and enjoyed it. Mac and cheese with lobster was good too but pricey.
Our waiter was very accommodating and nice. The entrees were small portioned. ( more pasta and potatoes compared with the fish). One of the entrees ordered was all pasta and very little fish and we sent it back. The potatoes were very dry. The waiter brought another portion but they were no different. More milk and butter needed to be added.
The price of the cheapest bottle of wine is outrageous ($34).
The dessert was good but could have been presented with a smaller plate because the chocolate cake looked so small on the large plate.
Doc Magrogans is always a treat for seafood lovers. My husband, a VietNam vet was treated to a special dinner for Veteran's Day and I had great piece of Mahi Mahi. Our server, Justin, was great. He took very good care of us including his thanks for Pat's military service. Food is always good. Service was excellent. Only complaint is consistently cold in there. A lot of drafts and not enough heat.
Outstanding food and service! Had a really relaxing time. My girlfriend and I are seafood lovers and we haven't had a bad meal yet! She is also a wine drinker and enjoyed the wine she had. From entering your restaurant to leaving the restaurant we were greeted with a smile and kind hello and good night ! We recommended your place to numerous friends and family.. Thank you!
The whole lobster was delicious. My husband got a cocktail at the bar before dinner and settled tab. During dinner he ordered the exact same cocktail. When the bill came it was quite surprising to see the cocktail was priced $2 higher than at the bar. Kind of sneaky. Also he ordered a special three course dinner which I had gotten emails advertising however it was nowhere to be found on the dinner menu. When I inqired to the waitress about this special she said it was by request only and then gave us a smaller menu with this on it. I have never heard of having to request a special and would feel bad for other diners who did not know this was available, as it is quite an expensive restaraunt. Again, sneaky. Not so sure if I will go back.
We found this restaurant while traveling last year and loved it. When back in the area we were eager to come again. But what a different experience. Indifferent service, unable to order two things on the menu because they were out of them at 6:45 in the evening. Last time we asked for a quieter table and they were quick to seat is in a room with little noise. This time they didn't care much. We won't return.
Went for anniversary dinner and wanted to try Oysters for our first time. Server wasn't very knowledgable about the different types they had. Husband's tuna steak was raw and not rare. It was a decent meal but next time I'll try a small business restaurant for our Seafood meal.
We've been here before and have generally been quite pleased. This was our 6th month wedding anniversary and we chose this because we've been to Doc's for many of our dates before we got married. Not sure what happened this day but everything was ...... bland. We had the lobster mac & cheese, chowda fries, thai lettuce wraps, and the grilled chicken salad. We also had a selection of oysters, which were good but the other dishes lacked ..... flavor. Hopefully it was just an off night.
We have been to Doc's several times before. Our service didn't seem to be up to the same standard as other times. We didn't receive a bread basket, for example. I believe in the past our meals would have included a salad, but these did not, although we ordered full meals. For the overall value of spending near $100 it wasn't one of our better experiences. The food was good, though and there was a nice atmosphere. We will be back, as my husband enjoys the fresh oysters.
4th time at Doc's. 3rd dinner and 1 lunch. We have never been disappointed. Had family from out of town this weekend and they all enjoyed the experience. Had two stops by managers at our table to check on us, as well as a great waitress. Food delivery was timed well, and served hot.
