Peel and Eat Shrimp
Poached and seasoned with Old Bay, served with house cocktail sauce
Our first impression was not very goood. We waited about 4-5 while the male host talked on the phone and had his back to us part of the time. We were lead back past the kitchen, numerous tables that had not been bussed and several staff sitting at a table. We sat in the back at a really nice inviting table. We sat there 5 min before our waitress came. We almost git up and left but I am glad we did not!
Our server apologized for the delay as she was helping a large party. We had a great night and really enjoyed our dinner. We had oysters rockafeller which were yummy. We also had raw oysters which were tasty but rather small so not a good value. I had a spinach salad with seared salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the strawberry pecan spinach salad was disappointing. It was like they dumped a bag of spinach on the plate and topped it with one sliced strawberry, 3 candied pecans and a sprinkling of feta cheese. I would have preferred a smaller salad with generous toppings. My husband had the sliced brisket with a baked potato which he liked. The server did not mention that the brisket came with homemade potato chips so he had potato overload! Our server, Max, was very good and sweet to us. We were visiting from Texas but we would definitely go back!
Our server was good. Our orders both drink and food came out incorrectly. They corrected the orders but my salad came out with my entrée, our baked potatoes were luke warm to cold, but the ribs and cajun chicken sandwich were great. So all in all it was ok, but for the price, should be better.
Great food and service. Felt a little rushed to get us out of there and close
The food and service was very good but the bourbon list was amazing. Over a thousand bourbons and a team to help you sort through all the choices. They customized flights for us and were really experts.
On our way to Lexington KY and stopped off at Doc Crows for lunch. Excellent contemporary southern cuisine. The oyster, pimento cheese dip, and shrimp and grits were exceptional. We will be back.
First visit to Louisville
Really unfortunate to have to give this rating but I received a 2 hour notice (via voicemail) before my reservation time that my reservation would be canceled because the restaurant would be closed. I wasn't given a reason why and wasn't able to reach anyone when trying to call back. I was looking forward to what sounded like would be a good meal. Poor handling of the reservation is the reason for the rating.
They were out of 4 of 6 the Bourbon’s or Scotch that we asked for. Food was dry like it had been sitting all day.
We were visiting Louisville and ate at Doc Crows three times. 😀
Sons birthday weekend. Great good and a very healthy whiskey selection. Sit in the bourbon room if you can.
Great food and service.
Good food, good service. The “Sampler” plate is far from a sample. Will feed 3 or 4 people almost.
Spicy chips not spicy , no taste. Coleslaw chopped cabbage taste flat. BBQ sauce nothing to write home about. BBQ at home, St. Louis, way better. Expensive. However, the sweet tea was outstanding.
Delicious food. Incredible whiskey collection. Longer wait than expected on service.
We loved everything about Doc Crow's. Fabulous southern food. Fantastic service from Courtney. Wonderful bourbon-based cocktails and great beers. We are oldies and were shown to a table in a quieter area of this big eating space, and we really appreciated that. Thank you!
Great food and environment
Great food and excellent service. Good bourbon and beer selection. Pimento cheese and chips appetizer was delicious. Our group had the fried chicken with limas, the spinach salad with pulled pork, the hamburger and the potato with pulled pork. Everything was very good!
Service was slow. Cocktail ordered came overflowing with crushed ice, and one swallow of beverage (not exaggerate)took forever to get drinks and regretted ordering dessert to go because it took 20 minutes. Disappointed
Service was below average but it is hard to find good help these days. Things were very quiet for a Sunday lunchtime. Food was good but not great.
Good food and good service, although our appetizers and entrees all came out at the same time, which made us feel rushed to finish everything before it all got cold.
Our hostess was amazing !! Service was good and food was good
Calling restaurant to speak to someone is almost impossible. They never answer the phone. The outgoing message is from last Christmas and says they are closed.
My husband waited for his meal while the rest of our party was served. The served a ton of chips with each portion and the seasoning was too much.
don't get me wrong - I had a good time here. the service was pretty slow, and the entree size was a lot smaller than I expected for the price. that said the food was pretty damn good. I just don't think I'll be going back due to the price :(
the vibe was also not what I expected for this place. it was super bright in the whole restaurant and we had to walk through the kitchen to get to our table. it was kinda weird.
Had a good time. Wait staff was very nice and speedy.
We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The service was absolutely horrible and the food was just OK. We were so disappointed after reading other reviews with the experience we had. We will not go back.
Have been to Doc Cr
The food wasn’t that great! My husband can smoke meat so we were expecting something really good! This was dry and tough to chew! We got there at 6 and they were already out of shrimp so that made it a little more challenging for our kids to order.
Decent food, great service.
This is a well run, fun restaurant with great food. It's worth a visit. They should rethink the cave like seating between the front and back sections.
Our server Jake was great! The food was good and we love coming here when we visit Louisville.
Waitress was outstanding but the drinks ordered were missing alcohol and food was incorrect.
Extensive selection of bourbon. Food is ok, another urban BBQ joint. To be honest the service was so slow and inattentive it didn't matter. Ongoing confusion with bar staff as they kept bringing drinks meant for another table. I am surprised it has as many positive reviews as it does. Doc Crow's has some of the right pieces and parts but is horrible at execution. Meal duration was 90 minutes with no apps, just dinner and derby pie. Server did her very best to avoid interaction with the eight tables in the section we were in. If you're looking for a great experience, this is not it.
Our server was so hyper he was bouncing off the walls. We asked for unsweetened tea and received sweet tea twice. We jus had him take it off the bill and drank water. We wanted to take some cornbread home and he appeared with a foam box but the slot was torn we couldn’t fasten it and had to get another. We didn’t receive an itemized bill but since I couldn’t wait to get out of there I didn’t complain about the $75 bill with tip for 2 sandwiches 2 tacos and 2 manhattans.
Not sure what all the hype is about. It’s a cool building and I like the style of the restaurant, but that’s about it. The food tasted baked, not BBQ’d, and lacked flavor. Sure, put their BBQ sauce on it and it’s good, but really didn’t impress me.
The food was great. The cocktails were unimpressive. The whiskey list had everything you could ever want
Our service was very bad. We got the wrong food, the waiter was not attentive and it was so slow.
We have heard multiple recommendations for Doc Crows. While above average and in some parts very good, I didn’t think it overall lived up the local hype. Here is what was great and I would recommend: the pimento cheese and homemade Doc chips appetizer. The pulled pork was excellent but the dinner platter loaded us up with more chips and two pieces of Texas toast. I should have asked for different sides and it probably would have made the entree more enjoyable. Atmosphere was OK. Crowd noise was loud but not too overpowering except for once screaming child - to be expected. Overall good to very good
We experienced slow service and subpar food quality. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable, but in general the wait time was very slow and the food was not worth the wait. Do not recommend
Great place to have drinks and eat
Yum yum yum
