I dine here fairly often and hence, I consistently find the food and staff of high quality . Very dependable for timing your meal if your post theater/jazz/Nourse, etc. Menu changes enough that there are go to's to revisit and also new additions. It's also very pleasant to have a quiet conversation with friends and don't have to yell to be heard across the table.

Everything was just delicious and the service person was knowledgeable, smart, and friendly. The only problem was my martini...wayyyyyy too much vermouth. The lady at the next table had the same problem and returned hers. Overall, the place is great and not too crowded in the Hayes Valley area.

I did not enjoy my two course dinner at Dobb’s Ferry. The split pea soup was very watery with small pieces of bacon fat floating in the soup and the Halibut had a very mushy texture and didn’t taste good. I decided not to have dessert after my experience with the first two courses.

Fantastic neighborhood find! We dined prior to a theater engagement and had a fantastic meal accompanied by great cocktails, and nice wines. The prices are reasonable and not over-priced! The staff is professional and friendly! Great experience at Dobbs Ferry!

The hostess did not honor my request on table. The server was inattentive and did not check if we need something and/or drinks. The food was bland. The place was so loud. I was disappointed overall. Opentable should remove this restaurant on the list.

A pleasant place for dinner pre-concert. Entrees were delicious; waiter was attentive. The only downside is the noisy bar, which makes conversation, even in the back room, difficult.

Hot Neighborhood with several dinning options. Dobbs Ferry fits in well. Not over the edge.
Going to Opera, Ballet , etc in area, a must for service. Service that is not rushed but lets you get to the show on time. Good food, excellent service.

or just stop in for dinner if you are in the neighborhood with no place to go.

We've been here before for Happy Hour and enjoyed the ambiance. We decided to come back to try the restaurant. We weren't disappointed. We were dining early to go to the opera, so the noise level was delightfully quiet - only a few other tables were occupied. We had the house salad and pasta - tagliatelle with garlic shrimp. The salad was crisp and fresh with a tangy dressing. The pasta was fresh with a light sauce that enhanced the shrimp, spinach and pasta. For dessert we enjoyed delicious soft-serve vanilla ice cream with our choice of 3 toppings. We should have had triple of the home-made chocolate sauce and eliminated the other 2 toppings. All in all we had a wonderful evening.

Met friends for dinner in San Francisco at Dobbs Ferry. I had been there before as it’s in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, close to the opera house. Food ok, service should have been better. Also, quite noisy as many at the bar were watching Monday Night Football on tv.

The waitress went out of her way to make surer the orders from our smaller group got in ahead of those of two large tables traveling as a group.

We appreciated the concern and attentiveness.

We enjoyed our lunch and thought the menu had a good range of veggie, brunch items (two waffle dishes!) and just solid sandwiches.

My friend and I love this restaurant, so much that we call it "our place" when referring to it. It can be your place too. I have been here at least 8 times and it never fails to please. Our most recent visit was before a matinee at War Memorial Opera House for brunch. We enjoyed the chilaquiles and they were best I have ever had. The homemade chips and the rojo sauce were the perfect compliment to their homemade chorizo - I wanted to lick my plate. Serving sizes are reasonable, not huge, just perfect, leaving room for dessert. At the suggestion of our server I had the apple pie turnover with their homemade soft serve ice cream and caramel sauce and it didn't fail me. My friend enjoyed their cheesecake from which I stole a bite and it was light, creamy and delightful. The service is always incredible, attentive but not too attentive and always with a smile. Whenever I get a chance I recommend this dining spot. Reasonable prices, eclectic, interesting and incredible food and wonderful service. Their menu is always changing (please bring back your burrata and bacon sandwich) so you'll never get tired of this eatery. I've already made my reservations for my next visit.

This was our 2nd visit to Dobbs Ferry and it was so different than our first visit - a complete disappointment. The host acted like we were interrupting his busy night when we checked in early for our reservation. Not the greeting we expected. He then took us to a terrible table when the reastaurant was 80% empty! We had to plead to get a decent table. It just went downhill from there. The waiter was slow to take our order, never checked back (missed opportunity to get another glass of wine). The food had obviously been sitting admit was lukewarm when delivered. Our first visit last year was fantastic - 2nd time and last time was terrible. If you want a quick drink this place is fine but avoid having dinner here!

If you are looking for a good spot, not too expensive, with quality and consistency, whether bar food or at the table (order chicken scarapielo) Dobbs Ferry can't be beat!

We eat here often before shows. The service is unfailingly good: efficient, friendly, accommodating. The menu offers a variety of interesting, well-conceived dishes and the food is well-prepared. Most recently, I had the arancini appetizer and the duck leg. The arancini were fried perfectly - crisp on the outside, meltingly creamy on the inside - and served with a wonderful light sauce faintly flavored with anchovy. The duck was also perfectly done, flavorful, tender and moist beneath a fairly crisp skin. My friend had the halibut, which she liked very much, and particularly appreciated the kitchen's flexibility in substituting it's sweet potato hash for the side the dish came with.

Excellent restaurant! Found it quite by accident, but, what a find! Excellent service, great food presentation, very clean, just a very enjoyable experience overall. We had another cultural event scheduled for two days later, so, before we left the restaurant, we made reservations again! Enjoy it!!

They asked why we had come. When we said we were going to the symphony, we were shown the menu while we were waiting to be seated. Our order was taken promptly and prepared without delay. All the servers were friendly and kept an eye on our table to be sure that empty plates didn't sit around. The food was good, as expected. We found this restaurant on the symphony website, and were happy with our choice.

This evening was not the first time I have eaten at Dobbs Ferry, but I thought the food this time was less than I experienced on the other times I ate there. The halibut was dry, the scallops (a special that evening) were too salty. Salad was good, but I had asked for dressing on the side and it came dressed. Service was timely (we had said we were pre-theater), server was very personable and conscious of our gluten-free person, and you can't beat the location. I think next time I'm in the neighborhood I may eat elsewhere, at least for a while, to see if this evening was an anomaly.

Impeccable service, delicious dinner -- I was very impressed with this restaurant and I look forward to returning. My compliments to the chef, who made the best spaghetti I've ever had. The roast chicken dinner was hot, tasty, and very generous. My friend had the white fish and ate every bite. Well done, Dobbs Ferry, and thank you!

First time at Dobb's Ferry. Truth be told EVERY restaurant in the area was booked due to a sold out concert at the Symphony. Charming waitress, way slow bar, too much food on the plate, and a dry, tough pork dish. Other than that just fine for elevated American food. Will probably go back, but not as a first choice.

If you are in Civic Center for a show, this is a good place to come before. Food is good, not fancy or unusual but solid. Portions are a good size. Service was friendly & helpful. Space is comfortable. Three had the seafood Gratin special, one had the chicken. All enjoyed their entrees. Salads were good. Chicken pate was tasty. Stopped for the soft serve "ice cream" after the show, this was tasty.

A favorite place to visit before a performance at the nearby Opera House, Herbst Theater, or Davies Symphony Hall. As usual, because they are very busy at this time, it can be a challenge to get the check so you can pay and leave. Otherwise, the place runs very well with your orders arriving at a reasonable pace. In short, you don't feel rushed.

I was delighted with Dobbs. Had not eaten there before tho walked by many, many times, on my way to City Arts and Lectures talks. The maitré d greeted me with my name
(never happens) because he'd memorized the names of the upcoming reservations I guess....no other way he'd know. That was quite charming. Our server was attentive
without hovering and the food came quickly and was delicious. This may be my new favorite place in town!

Came to this restaurant based on the reviews and was disappointed with my dinner, Had the special pork shoulder and split pea soup. The soup was the most disappointing, wondered if there were any split peas and the chunks of ham just didn't cut it for me. The pork shoulder were thin slices of pork that looked like ham. Very disappointing. But my friend had the spaghetti and meatballs which was very good.
