dLeña is derived from the Spanish word “leña,” meaning firewood. The restaurant is centered around it’s wood-burning grill - a nod to the rustic open-fire cooking techniques of Mexico’s past.

    Food was absolutely delicious and would go back to dine again. All our menu items were so flavorful and our server at dinner was fantastic. 3 stars for service was geared towards getting a drink both downstairs in the lounge or at dinner, as it took longer than normal overall. Look forward to dining there again!

    Overpriced, underflavored Mexican food. The drinks were weak and flavorless, the guacamole was average at best, and the steak I had made me sick as soon as I got home. Service was good though. Overall a very overhyped restaurant.

    Loved the food. Our service was top notch. It was a bit nosy. Because this was our anniversary and wanted to be more intimate. But all in all it was a magical evening.

    Love the brunch here. The drinks were stellar and not overly sugary. They bring you everything on the menu and are careful about allergies. Then after everything has come out you can request what you want specifically in addition. It was quite a delight!

    It was my first time at the restaurant and I was immediately impressed by the greeting I received from the hostess. He suggested we dine in a more intimate setting in their lounge located in the lower level. The bartender answered all of our questions related to the tequila flights and the food was amazing. Overall superior experience!!

    Honestly, this was one of the BEST meals we have in a long time in DC. Every bite of food was bursting with favor. We started with salsa and chips which had the most delicious spiced crackers served with it. We were offered a palette cleanser of hibiscus juice to start as well. We also ordered the ceviche which had just the right amount of heat in it. It had great flavor and texture. We also had the Prawns and the Mediterranean Sea bass entrees that not only presented beautifully on the plate but also offered Mexican flavors that leave you wanting to go back for more. The chef was amazing and deserves to be recognized for his flawless cooking skills. The service was also outstanding. Everyone greeted us with a smile and they served the meal at a perfectly timed pace for us to enjoy every last bite. We had a Mexican dessert that was not overly sweet to end our culinary adventure. I would go back to eat at this restaurant anytime. There are many things on the menu I wish to try. If you haven’t yet dined with DLeña, make your reservation today!

    Great food! Friendly service and ambiance was very pleasant. I got Mexico boutique resort vibe. Ordered wagyu on hot stone and ahi Amarillo ceviche, it was amazing! Also, the tamarindo margarita is the best I have ever had!!! I’m def coming back!

    Excellent experience for my first time dining here for brunch. Came on a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy. The drinks were very good and the service was just as good. The biria tacos, chicken and waffles and the margaritas were my favorite. Will come back try the dinner.
