Welcome to dLeña, a Wood-Fire Mexican Cocina & Mezcaleria by Chef Richard Sandoval.

dLeña is derived from the Spanish word “leña,” meaning firewood. The restaurant is centered around it’s wood-burning grill - a nod to the rustic open-fire cooking techniques of Mexico’s past.

The menu transports diners to Mexico through a multi-sensory experience in every bite of the signature smoked entrées, fresh ceviches, and unique sharing plates. The expansive bar features hand-crafted margaritas, Latin cocktails, cervezas and vino.

    My team and I had yet another outstanding lunch. DLena does not disappoint! Everything was perfectly cooked the cocktails were amazing with service to match. From Jeff, our server to Royal the server we had 8 months ago came by to check on us! Thanks for making our holiday lunch special ***the salted caramel ice cream*** chef’s kiss!

    We decided to try several small plates including the tuna guac, fundido, and ceviche. All were great but the ceviche was phenomenal! We then opted for the short rib and octopus tacos. It was the best octopus I have ever had. So well seasoned and incredibly tender. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, and made some great drink recommendations. Just an outstanding experience, start to finish.

    In general I believe that DC is filled with over priced mediocre restaurants, very happy for dLeña to prove to me that there are a few gems. Every single bite of food that I tried was amazing. 10/10 experience, will be coming back again soon!

    Wow, what an experience and the Most incredible Mexican food. The vibe of DLena was magical. Our server was so friendly and great for recommending options. Cocktails were out of this world. I would fly back to DC just to go back and eat here. Thank you for an amazing evening.

    This was my 2nd time visiting the restaurant. The food was great. I’d definitely recommend. For a party of 2, we ordered the queso fundido, waygu empanadas, lamb shank (shared), seafood enchiladas and chicken dish and crepes for dessert. The margaritas were strong but the hibiscus drink (nonalcoholic) was even better.

    Troy is a gem! The food and ambiance are consistently great every single visit. However, this was the first time I experienced the joy of being served by Troy. My friends and I attended brunch (the best in the city IMO) and Troy set the tone for an amazing experience right away. He’s SO charismatic and never left us sitting for too long without checking in despite it being PACKED! Love this place and now I know to ask to be sat in Troy’s section!

    Great experience with friends who were in town for a couple days. The staff was very kind and attentive, while the food was delicious (especially the short rib) and well presented (especially the desert). A truly remarkable casual dining experience.     Went for the bottomless brunch and left so happy. The service was divine and every option was delicious. I will concede it was probably me, but I will say after a while it felt difficult to differentiate between the different flavors. The biggest differentiator after a while was texture. I still enjoyed it and definitely recommend the experience.

    The service was ok here, my food was very delicious. I had the enchiladas man oh man they were so so good. I had a strawberry margarita that was pretty good overall I highly recommend this spot.

    great ambiance and vibe. A massive menu that is largely in Spanish so I didn't really know what I ordered lol. Food was good/ok but prob would order diff If I went back. Margaritas were very sweet and I could not taste any mezcal. The drinks were meh. Overall, it was pretty good experience though.

    Went there for the bottomless brunch. The food is ok overall, some dishes better than others. The drinks are average for whats included, but if those were the regular margaritas, then I would not order them if I was dining a la carte. It did bother me that they came and told us we had to leave after 2 hours (that's how long the brunch lasts), even after we also ordered a la carte. Ambiance is good, it's worth giving a try if you have never been.

    Heard so many great things about the restaurant but was underwhelmed. Food as okay, server wasn’t the most attentive, and it’s pretty dark in the restaurant making it hard to see the menu (and I’m mid 20s)
