Divino Wine & Dine Ratings and Reviews
We have never eaten at Divino Wine & Dine but saw it on OpenTable so thought we'd give it a try. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is lovely (small restaurant with a lot of charm). Our server, Krissa, was outstanding. She was great about highlighting items on the menu and helping us figure out a wonderful combination for our dinner. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a great Italian dinner!
My friends and I like to dine at Divino before we go to a movie down the street at The Oriental Theater. Early in the evening you don't necessarily need a reservation, but you do later, say, after six, because this restaurant and bar are very popular, and with good reason.
My favorite dish is the Chicken Marsala. Sometimes I like to share a pizza. The dinners come with soup or salad, terrific Italian bread, and the portions were big enough that all four of us women last week took home half of our entrees. Greg, our super waiter, boxed those up for us in the back, rather than making us do it at the table. I hate that. My favorite wine is the red blend; and I have never tired of the warm, inviting atmosphere.
One warning: If you arrive later in the evening, with or without a reservation, you may have to stand around near the front door which is right inside the bar. You see, folks like to linger here, so gauging how long before a table turns over must be challenging.
Lots of garlic so be warned, or enticed. Waiter didn't mention the boar special which I probably would've gone with, or offer a dessert menu. Otherwise he was prompt and polite. Food was tasty but not enough to bring us back, although it was a bargain: 4 drinks, 2 glasses of wine, 3 apps, 2 & 1/2 entees (they offer 1/2 portions w/out salad) for $110 plus tip.
Nice little Italian restaurant where everybody seemed to know everybody else. The waiters and waitresses took special interests in knowing and remembering customers names and made you feel right at home. The food and wine select was not as large as expected but fit the style and feel of the restaurant perfectly. The food and wine itself was also very delicious!
Once again Davino pulls through. Great food and great service. Loved the Sicilian steak I had. Pedicels cooked. I would have liked the option of a different pasta or maybe even a rustic potato or garlic/parm mashed. The salads were great, eggplant outstanding and the tiramisu some of the best in milwaukee. Bravo
I have been going here for years, when it was under previous ownership. It closed for awhile then reopenned with a similar menu. I have never had a bad meal here. The staff and owners are friendly and accommodating, the food is very good and reasonably priced and the setting is laid back and comfortable. It does get a little noisy but it is better to be an a restuarant with people having fun than to be sitting alone in a quiet restaurant.
Divino was a nice surprise. We probably would never have stumbled across it had it not been for open table and we are glad we did. The food was delicious, very homey, and the service was excellent as other reviewers have also noted. Great dining experience!
I came here with a "local" a couple of weeks back for the Carbonara (at her request) . . . . and it was most excellent, so I brought someone new to the neighborhood this time (we East Siders delight in 'discovering' places like this).
We had the best waitress in Milwaukee . . . period. As far as the wine and menu are concerned they were both great. We shared an entre of Spedini and Eggplant. I have found no better Italian cousine anywhere in the City . . . . .and the City is supposedly full of excellent Italian restaurants.
Oh, and one must experience the decor . . .. . can't be explained adequately but it will make you look around in wonder. Definitely on my list of go to places now.
We've dined at Divino and it's predecessor, Palermo Villa, for many years. Divino has been redecorated nicely, but has similar menu to Palermo, with all the Italian favorites. Pizza is a star here but can't go wrong with the pastas either. Friendly service, a neighborhood favorite!
Everything was great, but it seems Joseph was in hurry to get us out of the
restaurant fast and didn't ask how our food was or bring us more coffee
with out been asked. I know that sometimes someone has a bad day just
hope that when we come back he will be in a better mood.
We love the food at Divino's. We especially love the eggplant strips and their pizza is excellent. The newly redecorated restaurant is very comforting and welcoming. We have never been disappointed with our visits and recently introduced this restaurant to our friends who are pizza lovers and they too shared our opinion that Divino's pizza is outstanding. Artie
it just didn't stand up to my expectations based on previous reviews here. Pizza was decent but I didn't think it was amazing. Pasta was bad. Pasta was overcooked that the strands were limp and torn to pieces. The sauce was one-layered in flavor, too thick and drowned the pasta. I had house wine which had cork pieces in it (I didn't tell the waiter because I already felt bad about the food; I just took out the debris). It was unfortunate because the place was crowded filled with seemingly satisfied customers. For Italian food within the same price range, I would rather hit Maggiano's or Buca di Beppo.
This is one of our favorite Milwaukee Restaurants. Service and Food always consistent. Open late in case you want something after a show or a movie. I am in love with their meatballs. Not that I am a major Spaghetti and meatballs person but I will not miss these meatballs when I am there. I have tried others and there is no comparison. This is a friendly place that deserves HIGH RATINGS. Don't miss their egglplant either!!
The food was truly outstanding. My dad and brother raved about the salmon -- my brother, who is a pescatarian, said it was probably the best salmon he's ever had. My shrimp scampi was amazing. Portion sizes were very generous - the chicken parmesan could have probably fed three people!
Definitely going back....again and again!
The food was great, it was the first time we've been there so it was hard to choose. They have mezza portions as well as the full entree which is very nice. Ordered delivery pizza once from here, The Palermo pizza, it was very good and this first meal in the restaurant I ended up ordering the White Pizza Neapolitan(YUM) and my husband had the special, Wild Boar from Texas in a ragú and noodles. And the tiramisu for dessert; different but amazing, one of my favorites ever.
I love a calm restaurant, there was music (loved every song) but we could easily communicate with the server, and my husband and I could have a conversation. (I'm tired of the restaurants that try to act like a club...)
We were very pleased by our first visit. Upon recommendation of waiter, I had the chicken spedini. Quite tasty! Good portion size, with a small but appropriate side of homemade pasta. Also tried the Sicilian Meatloaf. Delish! Entrees come with soup or salad. Salad is a bit more than just lettuce, plus homemade dressing! Good service, tasty food and really great prices. We will be back!
I was looking for a nice, casual Italian/pizza place to meet a friend. Divino's was perfect. Food very good, we had pizza of course, and next time will try one of their evening specials. Atmosphere very good- not loud, not a tomb. Cozy and not cramped. Location great. Lots of college students in the area but this isn't necessarily a student hang-out. (BTW, I'm 50+.) I even got lucky and parked 40 feet from the door. The owners and staff were welcoming and terrific. Service was efficient and down-home friendly. We enjoyed the evening.
Nice neighrborhood restaurant with a viriety of Italian dishes. Out reservation time was at 7:30 and we were seated immediately by a gracious host. Service was rather slow due to "bigger tables that were seated ahead of you".... , although there was plenty of staff avalable. Eggplant strips were good. Entrees were good however I felt the tomato sauce lacked any flavor or seasoning. One of my pet peeves in any restaurant is why go through the trouble of making a delicious compound butter, then serve it with cold sliced bread? We weren't offered any dessert choices which we would have selected one, .
Divino served our party of three outstanding Italian dinners, and a smooth Pinot Noir house wine that we want to track down for home use. Divino always provides charming and friendly service. We will definitely be back. (Nightfall Classic Pinot Noir, 2012, California)
