Ditka's - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
We had a great evening at Ditka's. It has a beautiful design and ambiance. We were seated right away and our server was terrific, he was very helpful in offering suggestions for my wife due her food allergies. The food, pork chop, veal chop and steaks, came out quickly and were wonderful. The five of us were visiting from out of state and had a wonderful dining experience!
It was a Sunday evening birthday dinner for four people. Food was excellent but i was most impressed by our waiter's service. He wasn't a 'rookie' so he was very helpful with menu selections and wines we should try. He sized us up beautifully but what most impressed me was his friendly demeanor. All in all it was a great evening.
It became apparent the minute we walked in and the 30-minute wait for the "important" people became a 4-minute wait and the people who had reservations, waited. unfortunately, I am not the type of person who sits and waits while I watch the important people be seated, so I said something and was then seated. I usually tip well; however, our server provided minimal service. He did not check on us during any of the courses to ensure our satisfaction. We had to call him over for assistance. He did not even the deserve the 15 percent I felt obligated to give. The food was excellent; calamari, salad, and ribs. Amazing flavor. I would come back for the food; maybe a take out?
Ditka's is conveniently located on the lobby level of an office building. There is valet parking, but you can park in the underground lot and take the elevator up to the lobby level - especially nice during inclement weather. The decor is upscale, yet comfortable. The noise level is a bit high due to the large bar in the center of the restaurant. Clientel is heavily male.
Portions are large and tasty, but all ala carte. Potato or vegetable side dishes run from $5 -$7 each. Appetizers start at $9, with most being in the double digits. Entrees start at $12 for a "Fridge Burger" and go up to $49 for the 20 oz. bone-in Rib-eye. There is an extensive wine list including Ditka's own label wines. The desert menu is two-sided and plentiful.
We had a 730 reservation and were sat almost 30 minutes later. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took the server 30 minutes to bring it and she didn't even visit the table in that time to get appetizer orders, etc. The appetizers were great but our main entrees left much to be desired. 3 people ordered steaks on our group and every single one was over cooked. They must have cooked them on high heat because the outside was almost burned (I'm sure to cook them faster). Overall, I'm not quick to return. For a 300+ bill, I expect service and quality to be a lot better than it was. Forget about this place and go to Ruth's Chris, Smith & Wollensky or The Chop House.
You expect a sports theme when you think Mike Ditka, and there are no disappointments. But it is an understated theme, with the focus on casual, tasteful atmosphere and great food. I had the steak salad, while my husband chose the pork chop-both excellent! We can't wait to go back.
We have been coming to Ditka's in Oakbrook Terrace for several years now and always enjoy the Bloody Mike's (Da Coach's signature version of a traditional Bloody Mary with a beer back of Iron Mike's on tap. Although we usually just stop in on Sunday afternoons for the beverages, this visit we opted for sandwiches as well. My wife had "The Fridge Burger" and I enjoyed "The Steak House Burger," both priced a reasonable $11, including a choice of fries, chips, slaw, fruit or cottage cheese. This is some burger, so much so your waiter brings a Fridge-size steak knife to cut the sandwich in manageable portions. All in all, one can't go wrong with a Bloody Mike's and a burger for the perfect Sunday mid-day pick-me-up. Da coach would be proud!
I had a 7:30pm reservation and was about 10 mins late due to traffic and waiting in line for valet parking. When I got inside and gave my name to the receptionist she replies "I'll have to add you back in the queue". We had to wait an additional 25 mins to be seated. Needless to say I wasn't happy. The food was excellent! I was smiling again when my waiter ran someone else's bill against my credit card. When I saw the mistake he came back and had to void out the first charge and charge my card again correctly. It was slightly annoying but not devastating. It was my husband's birthday and I made plans way in advance so everything would go smoothly. But like I said the food was delicious so it made up for the other stuff.
It was a busy Saturday night - our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed. That being said, our food was very good. I would recommend this restaurant BUT I would give the following warning : don't go if you have the intention of eating healthy, while I'm sure the kitchen will prepare anything you want, once you look at the menu (steaks, chops, loaded double baked potatoes etc) you will find yourself saying "Diet starts tomorrow". After all it is Ditkas!
Enormous portions of the highest quality fare, delicious entrees, sides and desserts. Two of us had ribs - they were so juicy, flavorful and fell off the bone. The slight kick to the sauce makes them even better, and neither of us that ordered ribs are able to consume spicy food. The angelhair pasta with chicken was also a delicious entree. The asparagus side were the best we ever had. Same for the triple chocolate cake with raspberries and sauce. My only complaint is the restaurants lack of noting a milestone, in this case a birthday. A perfect touch would be a small dessert - gratis for that person. We still would have ordered and paid for the triple chocolate cake!
Our table was very close to the bar (actually in the bar area even with an OpenTable reservation) and service was slow. Perhaps they were understaffed because there was an employee party that night according to the paper sign on the door when we arrived...a bit tacky for this type restaurant. But the food was very good and wine list impressive with some great choices-- so we had fun anyway.
I had made reservation for my bday one week in advance and indicated it was for my birthday and when we arrived and til dessert time I received no acknowledgment . My fish was dry & so was my rice. Sent back . I decided to order steak . It was too dark in the resteruant I couldn't tell if it was medium rare I requested or if it was rare. It seemed hard to cut. I just ate half and gave up. My friend who is white said she received free appt. and dessert for her birthday. I'm asain and received nothing. I believed they ignored my notes I left online on the special request . Because of racial profiling or they just have bad service. No manager came by our table. The food plus service was not worth it. I will not return.
I took my husband here for dinner as we had not been out in some time. I picked Ditka's as I had heard good things about their food and wanted a bit of a change. When we go out we try to go and try places we have never been to before. This was an outstanding choice and their food was to die for. Our waiter Frank was very knowledgeable and helpful in our selections. Thank you for a great first experience.
Always love Ditka's. It's a great place to get great quality food at a price that's not going to break the bank. The Filet Sliders are out of this world! I had Grilled Salmon and it was cooked perfectly! Most restaurants tend to overcook it and it ends up dry. Their steaks are equally cooked to perfection and the Bar is always fun. I highly recommend Ditka's for a romantic dinner or a great place to get a drink.
My wife and I went with another couple. Had a great time. The service was fabulous. The food was incredible. Our table enjoyed 3 different types of steaks and a pork chop. All were cooked exactly to order and tasted phenomenal. Wine list was extensive with both reds and whites. Already setting up another date with additional couples.
