Ditka's - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
I must admit this is not my first time going to this restaurant and the other times were great, I enjoy the food and the servers. But this time I decided to get a reservation and we sat upstairs with the tv and I was still hoping to catch the game on Valentine’s Day. Here’s the issue, this ruined my entire night, the singing man. I have no idea who said having live music would set the mood and make people happy. Because it was A TERRIBLE IDEA!!!!!!!! He was singing too loud to the point where I had to practically sit on my husbands lap to hear what he was saying, ievery bite of food I took it seemed as though nails were scratching a chalk board. I had no clue he was going to sing the entire evening without taking a break. They should tell people that he’s up there and give people the option to listen or not I wanted a nice evening with my husband and I did not enjoy that part of the night. But otherwise I enjoyed the Valentine’s Day special and the food is worth it.
Made reservations to see John Vincent on Valentines Day. Loved the food-we made a meal out of several appetizers: oysters, shrimp, (huge) pot roast nachos, bisque. Wine and beer were very good. Our waitress was so efficient and personable.
The best part of our evening was John Vincent! His voice is incredible-he sang perfect tunes of Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong and Dean Martin.
We'll be back to see him!!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and could not have found a better place to be than Mike Ditka's. We were thoroughly pleased with their expedient, professional service of seating and serving us. Our server was extremely courteous and on target. Our food was delicious and abundant! I had to take my dessert home! No room for it! We will definitely be back.
Our waiter, Mark, was very personable, knowledgeable regarding the menu options, attentive, and had a good sense of humor. Our food was perfectly prepared, and all choices from appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts were terrific! We all over-ate, so that's a compliment to the chef. I highly recommend Ditka's!
Great experience, great food. Double Cut pork Chop and Wedge Salad a must. Carlos, my server or as he wants to called " Los" was very knowledgeable, fun and entertaining.
He made the night, Andy the GM was also great and very accommodating since i made an error in my reservation and he helped out and saved the night.
Worth the trip and a must if you get "Los"
Decided to book at Ditka's after reading several reviews but it really was a very disappointing experience. The ambiance was good and service fast but the Paddle Steak (bone-in ribeye) was tough and stringy and most of it wasn't eaten. Additionally the blue cheese crust for the rib eye was just chilled cheese placed on top of the prime rib ordered. The wait staff did not offer a replacement or bill deduction for this which was very disappointing also. There seems no place on the website to submit a complaint, so given Ditka's an opportunity to make a gesture retrospectively is difficult, hence this review.
First time at Ditka's on Chestnut Street, Chicago. Loved everything about this place, reasonable Valet Parking, Coat Check, excellent drinks, friendly and accommodating bartenders and waitstaff and most importantly excellent food. We arrived early for a 7:30pm dinner reservation and were seated at the first floor bar until reservation time. This place was hyperactive with customers and staff. Drinks and wine were both very good and service was attentive and bartender, Jason, was great. We ended up ordering a half an order of the Pot Roast Nachos at the bar and they were delish!
Upstairs dining room was nicely laid out and tablecloth. Waitstaff upstairs was also very attentive and accurate with orders and timing.
I ordered the Meatloaf which was the best I have ever had, so juicy and melt in your mouth great with barbecue sauce and piled high with creamy mashed potatoes and stacked with onion string fries on top and corn bread on the bottom....it made a memorable presentation and a hearty serving. My boyfriend had their house burger plate and it looked wonderful....he was very satisfied with it.
Now, the only comment I would make is that they have entertainment upstairs and they need to have a small stage or raised up area for the entertainment, singer to perform instead of standing in the far corner of the bar lounge area...they should center this between the main dining room and bar. They have a great singer, John Vincent, singing there regularly and they need a proper platform that would better showcase him in both areas. My one and only criticism.
Called in advance to find out the corkage fee policy. Was told that the first three bottles are free and twenty dollars after that. I repeated what she said since I was amazed that first three bottles were free. She confirmed. I brought a red and a white in an then was charged a corkage fee. I mentioned this to the server and he said it was for only one bottle. However, he graciously took the fee off. Management, please get on the same page about corkage and post it clearly on your website. Server was excellent as was the restaurant week menu. I was not a fan of being placed in a room with so much Packer paraphernalia.
One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had, loved Ditkas in Oak Brook and Chicago did not disappoint. Our server, sorry don't remember his name was fantastic and very attentive. Food was very good and drinks well poured, can't say enough about Ditkas! Thanks Mike and keep up the good work.
So we decided to finally try Ditka’s and after all the great reviews felt good that the decision with spending the money on this dinner was a good one. First off we asked for a dinner for 4 and I mentioned in our reservation that my grandson would be with so we would need a high chair. They sent us up them made us wait while they got our table ready for a high chair 10 - minutes. But hay was nothing really. The real problem was paying $35 for a grizzly steak with no sides. I will admit that the pot roast nachos were good and my grandson liked his sweet potato fries but who can mess those up. Our waiter Kyle was attentive and a good waiter however we got the feeling that he judged his tip by our appearance. Needless to say we had our one experience at Ditka’s will definitely not return!
Discovered this place on our trip to Chicago last winter, and were sure to return this time. There is a reason why it is one of the top-rated restaurants in Chicago: The food and service are both excellent! The venue itself is "comfortably worn", but still elegant, and the place is always packed. We arrived this year at 5:45 PM on a Saturday (we had a reservation, which is a MUST), as we had tickets to a play at 8 PM. We were seated promptly and, upon asking to sit by the fireplace, the waiter obliged. We were pleased to discover it was RESTAURANT WEEK in Chicago, and were happy to enjoy wonderful food with reduced pricing ($44 for salad, filet and dessert, or $33 for pork chop, salad and desert). The food was excellent, as expected, and the place filled up completely about half and hour after we arrived. My husband and I each had the 8-oz. filet, and our friends enjoyed the Pork chops with mashed sweet potatoes. The food was delicious and the service is impeccable, as expected! If you don't want to have a heavy dinner, there is also lighter fare. I will return!
