Ditka's - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
I went to Ditkas for my birthday. We were sat at a table directly across from the drink station in the thoroughfare between the “lounge” and the restaurant. If they try to seat you at table 701, just leave. The place was loud and gives the impression that it can’t decide between being a sports bar or a fine dining place.
We ordered the double cut pork chop and the scallops. The pork was dry, tough, and tasteless. The scallops were good, but the crab risotto it was served with was full of shell bits. It was overall a substandard meal for the price and I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone.
The only complaint I have is - the special I got was a 8 oz. filet with a little bit of lobster on top, finger potatoes and asparagus- I was surprised when the meal arrived on an over sized plate - I had 10 little finger sized potatoes the size of my pinky- no problem watching carbs - but the asparagus was laughable- I never saw 4 pieces of asparagus so small - you could of threaded a needle with them and they were about 2 inches long - steak and lobster was great - but for $55.00 I expected more asparagus than what my grandaughter serves her barbie.
We were a half hour early and they provided a very nice waiting area at the hotel next door. The steaks were outstanding and the waiter was extremely attentive. We were seated at a table across from the bar and along the main pathway from the kitchen to the tables. It was a bit loud because of the bar and my chair was bumped often by servers passing through. It was a little annoying, but the food and the waiter made it okay.
We eat here every time we come to Chicago. The atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, quality of the food prepared as ordered makes us want to continue to return. My wife believes the crab cakes are amongst the best she has had and the steaks are always tender, juicy and flavorful. The sides are outstanding and the creamed spinach is the best! Never had a bad meal here in the 10+ years we have been coming here.
Food and waiter were outstanding. Little disappointed with host staff. They called to confirm reservation and asked if we wanted dining room or bar for 6 people. I requested dining room because of my 84 year old mom for hearing reasons. When we got there we were escorted to a table in the bar. When I indicated we requested dining room the hostess said I’m sorry and said hold on and I will be right back. 15 minutes later we were still waiting to be seated. Not until we went back around did we finally get seated in the bar. Not good. The waiter made up for lack of attentiveness by host staff.
Food was delicious as always. Note to self and all - special request the main dining room if you want to see John Vincent sing! We got stuck way in a back room, far from the main dining room. The waiter seemed irritated with our table for some reason, a little uppity if you ask me.
Hands down the absolute best steak and crab cakes we have ever experienced! Fun atmosphere with great photos and memorabilia yet still intimate in the dining room for special occasions. When our server found out it was my husband’s birthday, he brought out a complimentary dessert. Amazing experience overall and we will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Chicago again. Thank you from two Canadian Chicago Bears (and now Ditka’s) fans!
We arrived 20mins late because of traffic. We couldn't be seated. We were offered the bar tall tables upstairs. It was VERY loud and could not talk. It was our 5th anniversary, having been married and our reseption at DITKA"S we were dissapointed . I guess we will leave earlier next year from the Rockford area.
I love this restaurant. Great food, great service...the Bloody Mike is fun. Can be cool in the winter, wear something that keeps you warm when you take your coat off! The biggest issue for me is that it can get loud, and a little hard to hear, but there are so many more positives! Bathroom is upstairs, but there is an elevator...always worth going to when I am in Chicago!
I've eaten at Ditka's many times over the last 15 years. It was always one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Unfortunately I didn't have a great experience in 2016 when visiting the city but just thought it was a one off. I ate there with friends recently and while the service was very good the quality of the steaks was very average. So I would not recommend it.
We went for a holiday luncheon. Food great as always, service was friendly but our waiter was really busy so a bit less attentive than we may have wanted. Largest disappointment was it was not as decorated for the holidays as I would have hoped or expected.
