Distrito Taqueria Ratings and Reviews
I went with a few friends for a fun and relaxed night out, and Distrito was perfect for a casual get-together! The passionfruit margs and Super Nachos were excellent and great for sharing. Only complaint/suggestion is that there is no where to put coats/jackets, and we were seated at a tall round table with stools, so I wish I had reserved a table with benches instead.
The ambience is stunning and the food is great and reasonably priced. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. It's a great place to go with a group of friends for a birthday, special occassion, or just a fun night. Even though it is very lively with many people it is not difficult to hear your own conversation.
We were not as happy after leaving as we usually are. What has changed? It seems like there have been some changes, like the menu and maybe the service too. No peanuts on the table? The change in menu. We ordered shrimp fajitas and my wife didn't really like her food. I had the chicken fajitas, and it was mostly onions. It even seemed like the churros were different. It is not like it used to be with a lot of sharing meals. We were seated downstairs, not sure why, that was a first, but we would prefer upstairs. Downstairs was pretty cold. Honestly, with the prices as high as they are, and the distance we have to drive to get there, we will probably just stay local and go to Qdoba, and save about $80. We were very disappointed. It used to be my wife's favorite place to go.
I have been to District a few times before this and I have to say those times were much better. They have made the menu a little more sparse and have gotten rid of the Chef's tasting, which I had very much enjoyed on previous occasions. However, the food was solid, margaritas were good, and service was excellent as usual.
Such an awesome restaurant. The margaritas are refreshing, and the food is delicious. I recommend getting a few things and sharing because there's too many options you don't want to miss. The restaurant also has such adorable and unique seating that really adds a fun element to the dining experience. Staff is friendly, and service is excellent.
Six of us had a wonderful new years eve at Distrito. One of the many joys of the evening was finding out that they still had their happy hour specials available until 7pm on a holiday. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food and coctails were delicious. I also got a parking space right in front of the restaurant!
Went for happy hour and the drinks were disgusting. I understand that you get what you pay for but happy hour can be an introduction to a restaurant or bar that makes a new customer a regular. The Super Nachos had little flavor. Service is generally kind but lacking professionalism. Our server, Octavio, was lovely though and tried to make our experience a good one.
Despite a reservation, when we arrived we were offered a high top near the bar or to sit at a long picnic table for a party of 3. Wait staff was trying hard and working fast but service was very slow (staff seemed to have a large number of tables spread all over). Food was excellent as usual (we come here fairly often). Waiter was pleasant and very helpful.
Nothing special. Overpriced Mexican fare. $13 for guacamole? Nope. They changed the original concept of this restaurant from a high-end small plate tasting menu with wonderful Mexican flavors into a college taco joint. I am sure the location had something to do with it but I miss the old menu. Go to Amada or Tinto instead.
Second time we've been there, both times with friends who suggested it as a cool place. There was an initial wait and we were then seated at the bar area, but after telling the Manager we preferred to sit in the main dining area we were moved and he was kind enough to comp our first round of drinks for the trouble. I appreciated that gesture.
The servers were great and seemed to enjoy themselves and were responsive. The food was great and tasted fresh and full of flavor.
Ambiance was cool and modern. We would go back.
This place was absolutely awful. In food and service. Super unprofessional and non accommodating. I was annoyed with how my server was speaking to us the whole night. Overall a very disappointing experience for food that was barely mediocre. I should have gone to chipotle.
Always thought Distrito was a super cool place . . . but I had never eaten there. On my own, decided to give it a try when I was on the Penn campus for meetings. It was painfully loud, so it was good that I did not have to talk with anyone else. Service was OK, but I had to ask for the check twice. That said, the food came out quickly. As for the food, I ordered 2 Wild Mushroom and Corn tacos, and one mahi mahi. They failed to mention that the mahi mahi is fried. Had to laugh at the "Wild Mushroom and Corn;" they should have called it Cold Corn with Three Slivers of Mushroom taco. Yes, I should have sent it back, but it was food, and I was hungry, so I ate it. But, even at an inexpensive price, they certainly disappointed. Not at all impressed, and with the many other options in University City, I would encourage people to pick something else.
The restaurant has nice decor and is an interesting place to grab a bite. It's super casual, with picnic style seating on the main level. The upper level has more traditional seating to accommodate a variety of party sizes. The staff is generally very friendly. The food is served quickly and the bartenders are pretty quick with the drinks. It was a great experience overall.
The food used to be excellent, but its dropped significantly in quality since I ate their last more than a year ago. The tortilla soup used to come in a jug poured hot at the table, and this time it came already sodden in a bowl. The shrimp cocktail was also an indifferent assembly in an undistinguished sauce. The flatbread and tacos were not as tasty or distinctive as they used to be.
