The margs are weak, the tacos are good, and th noise level is deafening. Come here with someone who bores you.
Excellent Friday-night get-together; my wife and I were visiting our son for UPenn weekend. Vibrant environment, great food; would recommend you put this place on your 'must-visit' list
First things first, the food is really good! Very fresh and reasonably priced. FYI the chips are the super thick ones. Im more of a cantina chip gal, but the salsa was delicious.
Okay, the restaurant is right off Penn campus. If you aren't in college prepare to feel old. Its a lot of 18/19/20 year olds in big groups being rowdy. It is super loud upstairs.
My suggestion is, if you are over the age of 23, and want to be able to talk to your dining mate(s) ask to sit downstairs. It seemed much calmer.
One of our favorite Philly restaurants. Always have a good experience.
One of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. Literally dine there with friends nearly every week!
The food was mediocre- I expected more flavorful dishes from a Garces restaurant.
Best nachos ever! And that quesadilla!! Yes!
The food is delish!! The decor is trendy and casual. A great place to meet up with friends. The green salsa is soooo good and definitely a must have. Try the cucumber margarita it's the best.
Great spot to get great food. Fun spot to go. Great service!
Our first time at Distrito. We had a 6:45 reservation and there were still empty tables. We were led to a table next to the bar. The noise was intolerable. I didn’t know there was an upstairs with better ambiance and lower noise until I went to the ladies room. Why would you put a couple with a reservation at one of the worst seats in the house? Plus our appetizer plates were left on the table when our entrees arrived. Food and margaritas were excellent but that’s not enough. Very disappointing dining experience
Too much noise. Food was very good but we were unable to have a conversation
Very good - nice choices of tequila and fresh flavorful tacos. Good choice if in the area but not to go out of your way.
I called ahead to have a birthday dessert brought out and it was forgotten. Overall besides that wonderful!
Fun & festive! A collegiate go to! Food was yummy.
Drove from Cherry Hill to go to Distrito! We miss you in Moorestown! Great Service, ambiance and the food was delicious 😋
Love coming here for Mexican, never fails to impress!
Last minute choice - as we wanted something in West Philadelphia to celebrate a birthday...and Distrito Taqueria fit the bill (and then some). Got a great table - in a wicker-like booth. Surround feel - intimate, fun. Our waiter - Zac - was friendly and service-oriented. Stayed on top of our needs without being overdone. Food was really great: we did a couple of flatbread specialties (shrimp and short-rib) and a couple of other traditional Mexican fare entrees. We added the Happy Hour special margaritas and chips/salsa..... we left filled and more than satisfied.
Excellent evening all around. Will clearly return.
We used to enjoy going to Distrito but this will honestly be the last time we go. It's not the same as it used to be. The quality of the food has really gone downhill, the servers are not knowledgeable nor do they seem to care as much as before, and the ambiance this weekend SUCKED. There was a really loud and annoying large group that were out of control yelling and laughing which ruined it for everyone else in the upstairs area. Why they don't tell people like that to quiet down is beyond me, especially when I found out they had been there for 4.5 hours already! As far as the food goes, it's obvious they are now cutting corners because the quality just isn't there. Especially with the mushroom flatbread which was soggy on bottom and loaded mainly with cheese. Also, the crab guac used to have big chunks of crab and now it's slight shreds of crab with a little cheese...and what have they done to the chips? Super greasy and thick now. And the margaritas are a joke. They offer flavored margaritas like before but now it's $2 extra to add a flavor. Not a good value. We will not be returning.
Ambiance was nice. But very loud during happy hour. Food was bland. Margaritas were good.
You'll like it. Foods good. The rest is to make the fifty characters minimum....
Excellent server--came by within 2 minutes of entrée being served, which just doesn't happen that often. Super friendly and accommodating. Chopped salad was great. We had mostly an assortment of tacos that were good. Not the best I've ever had but certainly tasty and prepared well.
Phenomenal food, service, and ambiance! Restaurant layout was super cool! Great place to come with a group or just for two! DEFINITELY get a margarita pitcher- they were amazing!!!
Service was slow. Food was good.
Connor was a great waiter and the service here is amazing. The food is perfect and their margherita happy hour special is totally worth it.
This place is way too loud. My friend and I were seated at a small table on the first floor, and had to scream at each other to communicate. Not a fun experience when you're wanting to enjoy a good conversation with your meal. The food was very good, however. The chicken had the right amount of seasoning and everything seemed "upscale authentic." I know that this is an odd thing to complain about, but they served way too much food. Someone needs to explain to them how "Dining Days" are supposed to work -- it should be *choice* of appetizer and *choice* of entrée, not *three* appetizers and *three* entrées for one person! Also, it's weird that there isn't a sink to wash your hands in the bathroom.
Used to eat here all the time when in town for business. It had been a year and it was sadly disappointing. Oh well.
The food was good but I wasn't too thrilled with the margarita. Service was rather slow considering they were closing in about an hour. We went for University City Dining Days and thought the meal was pretty pricey. The venue is very cute, lots of fun.
Went for UCity dining days. My date wanted to order off the dining days menu whereas I wanted an item on the regular menu. We were informed we could either both order off the regular menu or both order off the special menu. This seemed like an arbitrary condition, and one that we had not experienced doing dining days at any other restaurant. This really put a damper on our date. That coupled with the fact that service was slow and our waiter was forgetful meant we didn’t have the date night we had envisioned. On the plus side, the food was decent (but not great) and the overall feel of the place was really fun and wholesome. Probably would not go again though.
Went with the whole family. Kids and adults loved everything!
Enjoyed the university dining days menu. All was yummy and still had leftovers. Conner was a great server.
LOVE THEIR NAHOS! Used to go to distrito in Moorestown and it closed so tried the one in Philly and was just as good!
Great variety of delicious food and drinks. Love it!
Bday but they made no special arrangements 🤷🏽♀️
It’s such a shame to see how far the Garces empire is falling. We’ve eaten countless meals at so many of his restaurants. Tonight’s meal was awful. I felt too bad about Jose’s situation to even complain. The soda was flat, the guacamole with crab used to have limp crabmeat. When it came today, I asked, again, for crabmeat, because they must’ve forgotten, and just sprinkled some cheese. I was informed that what I thought was cheese was the crabmeat. In there defense, they brought out some extra. The short rib huaraches was burnt, and it appears they changed the tortillas used for the tacos. As for the tacos, the carnitas were tasteless, and had more onion than meat. The overall quality of ingredients seemed much lower. I’m hoping it was just a bad night, but it was unacceptable.
Waiter was pretty inattentive. He never returned to the table and anytime we needed something, we could see him standing in the back talking to another waiter.
My enchilada was good, a little pricey but still good. My friend got the flatbread, which seemed like an attempt at combining a cheap amount of ingredients into an over-priced entree with little consideration of actual taste.
The $5 margarita was good though. Probably the only thing I would get here again.
Great food & drink! Service was only sub par because they seemed short staffed, but our waitress did her absolute best to tend to us and worked SO HARD to make up for the shortage. I would definitely go back!
I had been here a few times before. This time the upstairs was closed and it was so loud that my friend and I gave up trying to talk. Next time I will call to ask about room before making a reservation. The food was good and a little pricey as usual but the noise made it an unpleasant experience.
AMAZING! I can still taste those tacos. The interior decor was so creative. I loved the ambiance, but back to the food. I’ve been looking for a “reasonable” taco spot in Philadelphia and this is it. Oh, and those $5 margaritas for HAPPY HOUR?! AWESOME!! They were strongly than expected thus, making them delicious. If you haven’t been, you’re overdue!
