District - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
We were excited to host some out-of-town guests, but overall the experience wasn't the best. Super bummed.
When our guests ordered a bourbon flight the server told us the best offering (Four Roses) wasn't available. My husband and guest choose an alternative (Old Rip Van Winkle) only to have our server come back again and let us know they didn't have this either.
From there, it was obvious and quoting our server that he was "slammed and under water," leaving the trickle out of all the foods we had ordered slow and our table unattended to. We had to ask to see the wine menu again and again. Mike (our server) was running like crazy trying to keep up with all of his seated parties. We were left wondering how management failed him to not have enough staff on the floor during the holiday season.
Overall, we were pretty disappointed and stuck with a full bill and many apologies from Mike.
Food was really great. As mentioned in some other reviews, service was a bit slow at times, but not always. Not a real concern as overall it was great. Somewhat noisy as the evening progressed, but that is to be expected as the place was packed. Again - the food was great - highly recommended.
The limited amount of dining options were all flavorful and pleasurable. Although I wish there was a broader variety of options or a weekly rotation of food options as I would like to return to district but would have to wait at least a month because I would be tired of the food if it was the same exact set each time
Nice ambiance although dim lighting made the menu a little hard to read. We shared a few small plates tapas style and enjoyed a couple of cocktails from their list. A little on the expensive side for a casual meal but a nice spot that had plenty of reservations available the day before.
I met some friends for drinks and tapas on a Friday night . Even though there was a Giants game, we found parking just around the corner. We shared three or four tapas and a pizza, with a couple of beers and a Sazarac and the bill came to $90 - so, not cheap. The food was tasty, and the waiter fairly quick - came back a couple of times to refill water glasses. They have an extensive wine and whiskey menu, and a few beers on tap. Mostly bottled. The high table chairs were NOT comfortable - hard wood and kind of short on the seat. Ask for a booth if you reserve. We were able to talk, but it was loud to start (we arrived at 6:45 pm) and got a little quieter after 7:30 pm. when the bar scene dwindled. Overall, a good place to stop if you are in SOMA and want a savory bite. I might come back to do a wine tasting - flights seemed reasonably priced.
Enjoyed the brunch - the food was good. Sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and friendly
My only complaint was the hostess. We had reserved a table for two when they opened at 11. She sat us in a dark back corner against the wall - no light and near the bathrooms. Asked for a different table (many open) and said they were reserved for other people (guess not being regulars you get the crappy tables).
Only because the bartender was attentive and said come join him at the bar did we stay. Really not the best first impression for a restaurant - non-smiling, unfriendly hostess. Should do better
Great oysters happy hour. Food was good: sliders, meatballs, roasted cauliflower and kale. All food came except for hanger steak as they seem to have forgotten about the order. Server didn't even seem worried or willing to follow-up until our second request! We just watched our friend scarf down his dinner as we had a concert to catch. Servers were unapologetic.
Service is a bit too slow and the whole place seems a bit unorganized. The food is not bad and the servers are friendly with good attitudes. Just seem to be a bit understaffed and slow (with the food and refills) overall. They have a great happy hour. I would definitely return and recommend to go; but I would say it's average for a San Francisco restaurant in all aspects.
They do have $1.00 oysters during happy hour! As long as they keep that we will be back.
We went for brunch, which is a buffet. The food was very good and there was a wide selection! The ceviche was definately my favorite! The unlimited mimosas were also great served with freshly made juices (like guava, cranberry and more). Was a great deal for unlimited food and mimosas!
Terrific food and excellent service. Outstanding tempura avocado and excellent pizza. Also great was burrata and sickle pear. It is pretty noisy and the lighting could be a bit brighter. But overall a great experience particularly with a small group sharing.
