I love the District. The atmosphere is always amazing! The service is great and the staff are friendly. The food at the buffet was cold and I got there when it opened so I was a little sad about that. But overall I had a great experience and will be back again
Great food, awesome service, overall good time! Everyone there is very attentive, helpful and happy. Highly recommend.
Place is great, food is fantastic, I would recommend management to staff the place. The servers do their best but is not enough and their are missing and opportunity.
I have been there twice and I would recommend to the barman to be more proactive and stop cleaning the same glasses over and over and take care of the customers.
Big fun time excellent service fairly good food and value
I’ve dined her often for Sunday brunch and knowing how busy it gets, I always make a reservation thru Open Table.
The problem is you can have a reservation and show up early or on time and because don’t reserve tables for the reservations and don’t enforce their 90 minute rule for tables, you need up waiting for a table even though people are walking in and being seated (we did for 30 minutes and finally sat ourselves at the bar). The bartender (John) who is awesome, was very apologetic and took great care of us. The manager on duty, not so much. She only offered excuses and a weak apology.
Food was mostly burnt. Very high is salt and just okay overall!
Delicious dinner, good beer selection, friendly staff, A’s game on the TV. My date and I both had a great time! Highlights were deviled eggs and arugula salad
The service was GREAT and very friendly.... with good choices on the buffet for brunch.. those potatoes tho... yessssssss
Really delicious small plates in a fun environments, with nice wines. We especially loved the octopus. The waitress was very attentive, and was kind to our son. We'll return :-)
We had those most amazing time surprising my husband for his birthday here. The ambiance is always incredible. The service was outstanding! Our waitress was on top of all requests. She came back frequently without prompt and was patient while guests considered all of the menu options. Absolutely would host another party here. Only challenge is that I tried to book more than 8 guests and was unable to. When I called the place they didn’t return my call. Other than that, superb night!
The food was amazing. We went in for Sunday brunch. They waiters were running around maybe because it was busy. But I suggest they come around more often to see how tables are doing. Overall pretty good experience.
The whiskey menu is long... but the service was very poor and the acoustics make it very difficult to talk without yelling.
Nice selection of food and drinks and a great add to the neighborhood. Only comment is that it is LOUD LOUD LOUD if you are seated under a speaker around the perimeter of the restaurant, so maybe better suited to sit at the bar if you plan on being chatty.
Makita was amazing! Very accommodating and helpful...
What an inviting place this is. Had a large table for a group of 5 and hung out for hours and the service was fantastic and they never made us feel like we should hurry up and leave. We loved watching the diverse parade of humans coming and going. They make a GREAT Manhattan, which I'm very particular about. My favorite dish was the fried curly corn, get it, it's fantastic! We plowed thru the 1st order and ordered a 2nd one. Great place to hang out with friends and share food and drinks. Parking lot across the street for only $10, certainly ain't SF prices!
I haven't been to this restaurant for years so upon revisiting I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food and drinks (specifically the wine list) was still excellent. The staff was SO accommodating and thoughtful that I was impressed overall with everything. Would definitely revisit soon!
We just had drinks but it was a very nice date night ambience. Michelle really likes sweet cocktails and she said that her strawberry concoction was delicious!
Excellent find in Oakland close enough to the Fox and Paramount to take in a show after a nice meal. Enjoyed the small plates so that we could try many dishes. The dipping sauce that came with the Chicken wings was particularly memorable. Good cocktails, great feel to the place and the service was really spot on.
I booked a reservation a week in advance and requested outdoor seating, they didn’t even acknowledge the request and sat us inside. If you don’t honor the request or even acknowledge it, don’t have it as a option during booking.
The waitress was so rude and every time we asked her for something, like another glass and carafe once more friends arrived, she made faces as if we were inconveniencing her or as if we were asking for something ridiculous.
I would have enjoyed myself more if I didn’t feel like I was an unwanted guest at someone’s house the whole time. I definitely won’t be returning and will find another place for brunch and mimosas.
Lively with great happy hour bites... nice part of town!
Loved the food, whiskey flights and our server Paige.
Great food, great cocktails, and surprisingly local crowd.
Food was delicious but our sever was cold and never checked in with us. They forgot to give us the chicken wings we ordered, but took it off the bill since we couldn’t wait any longer and needed to leave.
Celebrated the birthday here after work one day. The happy hour is a really great value and the space works well for medium sized parties.
The food and ambience were wonderful.
Service was prompt and very friendly.
Wonderful people watching was a nice bonus.
So good! Started off with 1/2 dozen perfect, really cold oysters on the half shell, served with horseradish and an onion jam. Then we had a charcuterie plate that was beautifully accompanied with almonds, apples, honey, etc. Then some yummy sliders and cheesy arancini, that I just loved. Our server was great and she recommended a delicious Tempranilla. A very vibrant scene.
Terrible food, even worse service. I will never go back. Food was very very sub par for the price, and it was 15 min before I was asked for my drink order. Do not go here, you will be disappointed.
Great atmosphere and awesome play list. Food and drinks were on point. Very friendly waitress and bartenders. Will definitely go back.
I love District, the decor, the atmosphere, the music, the crowd, the food, the service.
Fan of the happy hour and their lounge area is my fav.
In love with this place.
We decided to go, because one time we saw a line out the door of people waiting to get it. We made reservations for Sunday Brunch. We got there at 11am. Every place can have a bad day. The food was so salty we could hardly eat it. The sausage was especially salty. Even the bacon, which I love, was too salty. We ended up eating the Cheddar Grits, which were good, the scrambled eggs, the mini pancakes. Every thing else was way too salty for us. Sorry to say. Hope you do better. The place was beautiful.
My son and I had a wonderful time at District. We were immediately welcomed and both enjoyed the atmosphere even though we are 31 years separated by age. The food was wonderful. We each shared 4 plates that came out in succession. My son enjoyed his moscow mule and I had a hard to find IPA. We will be back.
Got there early with my friend, like 10 minutes. Was not able to get the table and after waiting for 20 minutes, we just got seated at the bar. The place was overcrowded for a Thu night (conference crowd) but the service was great and food came out very quickly. Ambiance is great, especially the couches area. This was my second time. Will definitely return.
The staff at The District was sharp, accommodating, and offered great service. We actually ate there twice! I like the mixed seating inside and their menu offered something for everyone in our group despite a variety of dietary restrictions.
Birthday brunch was delightful.
Great vibe for drinks
Fun yet classy SF/Oaktown urban vibe with a really cool mix of casual and sophisticated, nicely set with high ceilings, great light contrasts with huge windows and reflective glass bar wall, all on a well located street corner in the Historic Old Oakland District. Great food, drinks and service. Sweet retro live entertainment duet on night we were there. It would be five stars on many reviews given I rate on a tough standard. We had a wonderful experience all around.
We were hoping to have a romantic Valentine's evening at District. Unfortunately, no. While we had a lovely sofa seat, the combo started up and the music was so loud that we could not hear the waiter, nor could we carry on a good conversation. The windows were open, so I had to keep my coat on the entire evening - I was sitting in a place where that breeze was coming right in on top of me.
Food was good - especially liked the mushroom pizza. Don't bother with the octopus, though - way overdone. Brussell sprouts were excellent. It was too bad that loud and cold made the evening unpleasant. I know that restaurant owners like it really loud; not patrons - we want to be able to talk without yelling "what?"
Great selection of brown liquors, the $1 happy hour oysters were on point overall nice hangout spot
Food was pretty good could be a little more interesting
