Apparently District M has changed ownership in the last month or so and it is evident in the extremely disappointing experience we had this past Saturday. We had all been there a few months ago and really enjoyed it so wanted to go back. This was NOT the same experience. There was one inexperienced bartender on a Saturday night so drinks were delivered at a snails pace, the head bartender was waiting tables and the food came out slowly and without regard to when it was actually ordered. My husband's dish did NOT get to the table until we were requesting our check...around 10:45! I could not believe the nosedive this place has taken. We will not go back and recommend you don't waste your time and money there either!
Still great! Was worried because I heard it changed ownership, but same experience.
BEWARE: the previous owner of this restaurant sold. The menu has changed, along with the food quality and portions. They were out of EVERY red wine by the glass, as well as select beer and sake options. Sadly, a restaurant I once considered a favorite, is one I will NOT return to.
The food at District M was great however our service was terrible. Waiter wasn't familiar with some of the dishes that we asked about. The restaurant was out of one of the dishes that we wanted to ordered, waiter never checked in once our food arrived, etc. Food was very reasonably priced but we will likely go elsewhere and pay more with better service.
7:15 reservation, waited 30 min along w several other frustrated guests before being seated. Very disorganized, bad service, nobody knew what they were doing. After being seated we waited 30 min for our drink order. Waitress finally came back to the table to tell us the bar was our of the beer we ordered. Very long wait for everything. Total waste of a Sat night and babysitter. I never write reviews and a bad review isn’t fun, but this was a real loser.
Twilight Zone. Something was really wrong. Had early reservations and were told we would have a 30 minute wait. However there were many empty tables. After waiting longer than we should, it took a manager to convince the hostess to seat us. The waitress asked if we wanted drinks, I explained that I already had a cocktail from the bar. Then somehow another cocktail appeared. We ordered several selections of sushi but they did not come out at the same time. Part of our party had to leave as the delay in seating and service put them behind schedule for their plans. We had never been to District M and so wanted it to be a special evening. Sushi was good but so much confusion and frustration with seating wait at the open tables and delay in getting served sushi. Will wait until the reviews improve to return.
This place has really gone down fast. Our waiter was inexperienced, but also MIA for most of our dinner. The manager was very rude and seemed to have no notion of customer service. I hate this because my first two experiences at District M were really good.
We liked the food a lot, the sever was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. But, we had to send back glasses that were dirty, twice.
We had 8-10 dishes between the two of us. Most were quite good. The service not so much. Maybe because we were seated at the sushi bar we felt a little ignored, but with this price point service needs much improvement. Open table rated it two $$ but it really was $$$ maybe$$$$.
I feel like this place is giving signs that it’s not doing well. Last time I was there, the menus were proper. This time, they were on paper and stained with food or drink from prior diners. There are 5-6 beers on tap listed on the menu, only two avail.
I asked the waiter what they had for dessert, he said only a green tea ice cream. Not 60 seconds later the table behind me was delivered some chocolate cheese cake. When I asked the waiter whats the deal he said he didn’t tell me about the cheese cake because it wasn’t made in house. What!?!
Will prob not be returning.
Apparently they have changed owners. They could not accommodate our friend's request for a no- rice roll. She even offered to pay extra. They said no. The server was snotty and didn't know the menu well. It's not cheap and for the price we paid ($300) they should've been nicer. I'm over this place. Taka is way better, nicer and more affordable. I give this place another 6 months.
this is the 5th or maybe 6th time we have dined at District M, and the food and prep, and the service have been great each time. this time was no exception, EXCEPT 2 of the entries and 3 different wines they had run out of -- for a 6:30 pm meal. it was December 26, but still....
When I arrived I found out that the management and chef had changed. For the most part the menu was still the same. However the food was not nearly as good as it used to be. The wait staff is not at knowledgeable or as good. The food was delayed and arrived awkwardly. Half of the group finished before the others food arrived.
The food was also much more spicier than previously. Based on this last experience I will not be dinning again any time soon. Truest disappointing as my first meal at District M was a perfect 10.
Something seemed off on this visit. Hostess looked confused, kitchen out a number of items on the menu, and service was not attentive. Then we figured out why - change in ownership and Chef Jacky looks like he has left with the ownership change. Place going downhill fast.

Food was good but definitely a different vibe at the Sushi bar. Would wait until the restaurant restructures under new management before going back. It’s not the same.
Overall experience was good. One dish, Tuna tartar with caviar was a huge disappointment as it was very fishy tasting. Scallops were just ok, had several pieces of nigiri which were all excellent.
Very noisy restaurant but nice decor.
Good spot - food was very well done but they were out of some essentials so a bit disappointing. Ambiance was OK, a bit dark and stereotypical for your Asian fusion type place. Black cod was spot on and the o-toro was butter.
Ownership changed? Can definitely tell this time entire experience / meal was different. All “new” faces. Recognized no one. Food was hit or miss - some fish fresh, some definitely not. Fish pieces were cut larger. Oh well - need to search for another sushi place in Sandy Springs
Wednesday evening and they were out of most of their signature dishes. Service seemed confused and disjointed. Heard good things from friends but experience was very different from what they described, except the “it was expensive” part.
The service was horrendous. Guests walked out after 20min no service, and we had to tell 3 different waiters/waitress to get something (each told twice ) before we get anything. AND there were only 3 tables in the restaurant that night. Also, we ordered 5 things and 2 were missing. The waitress even blamed me for never ordered, eventhough we had a lengthy conversation about those dishes.
The food was not up to par. It’s like a knock off of Umi or Tomo, but their ingredients were poor. It was a Tuesday night and they had two of the key ingredients of two famous dishes missing! They asked to use a different less expensive fish to substitute the expensive fish dish, but they won’t reduce price of the dish.
Treated ourselves to the Nigiri Omakase at the sushi bar. Chef Jackie Chang was engaging and generous. Every bite was beautifully crafted and delicious. Will definitely be back soon since my husband says “this place is dangerously close to where we live”
The most amazing sushi experience I’ve had in a while. All around great service, selection and people!
Great food and ambience! A bit pricey but Wednesday they offer half price rolls!
I am a regular customer of District M, and while the food is always outstanding, my previous experience was horrible. While dining, my vehicle was damaged by the valet service hired by the restaurant. The damages to my vehicle were more extensive than those of a fender bender, and because of this, my dining experience was ruined. I understand it is not the restaurant’s fault, however, they did not make one attempt to check on me or try to make things right. They simply told me about the incident and left it alone. I am disheartened by their lack of care, especially for that of a regular customer who was there dining with business partners.
Excellent front door welcome and service from all staff .. Food is a work in progress but excellent Menu is a little limited but I’m sure will expand.
The BEST veggie sushi!!!!! I will be back!
The food was good, but was far too expensive for what it was and not exceptional. The restaurant was very loud and the service was fine but not exceptional. Valet was very backed up, leaving cars parked in the street prior to parking.
Hreat food and the staff was attentive to our needs. Only downside is the noise was very loud, so be prepared to have a conversation of: what did you say, pardon me I didn’t caych that etc.
Everything was amazing. Had to wait a little but they accommodated us very nicely. High recommend if you want some delish sushi. Sit at sushi bar to get the full experience!

Everything we had was great. The food was delicious and fresh, the drinks were well made. We sat at the bar and although we can't recall her name( we were celebrating our anniversary so the drinks went down easy), she was from Uruguay, but she was amazing. Will definitely be back.
My new FAVE! Everyone from Simon to Chef Chang are personable! Can't wait to go back.
Everything was wonderful. The quality of the fish was amazing. They had a tuna cutting earlier in the day, so the variety of tuna available was incredible. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. An unexpected delight!
We had an enjoyable night and delicious food. I will definitely be back but would love to sit at the sushi bar next time.The owner out front was exceptionally attentive and very nice. Looking forward to going back soon!
Everything was nice, but they need to work on a proper ventilation system, as the food smell was overwhelming. You go out all dressed & smelling nice, and after leaving the restaurant you are saturated with the food smell :-(
We are enjoying having a good sushi restaurant in the neighborhood and the food is really good but they need to kick up their service especially for the prices they charge. It took an hour for food to start coming out and they seemed really overwhelmed for a Friday night.

Overall is nice but you will smell like food and smoke, yes smoke in a sushi restaurant! It is also too pricey.
Fresh, delicious and stunning presentation. Great service, nice atmosphere and wonderful assortment of dishes to delight the appetite.
