Get the cauliflower. Delicious. The halibut was also cooked just right. My guest had the paella and kept eating it long after he was full!
Went to District Kitchen after visiting Zoo Lights. Service was a little slow, but very friendly. The wine and beer choices were good, the menu offered diverse choices. We started with the risotto balls, which were very tasty. My girlfriend had the chicken Tikka, which she said was very good. I had the flat iron steak frites. Steak was cooked perfect medium rare and the fries were from fresh potatoes. A very good meal in a nice atmosphere.
The food was creatively prepared and the portions were very generous.
Food was ok not great, service was fine, overall ok place for eating. Not great kind of meh.
First visit was incredible. Fast friendly service and the best strip steak and risotto on the planet! Apps were great as well. Thanks District Kitchen
Great food but the rudest server I've ever had. I'll change tables rather than be served by him again.
Floors were a bit sticky.
Tea that I ordered never arrived.
One description said this was an “upscale” venue, so I selected it for a business meal. I would not consider this an upscale restaurant, but the food was good.
Food was good, service was good but the noise level was too high for my taste. Were we sat got cold whenever the outside door opened, make sure to sit away from the entrance.
Although the food & Service were good, I would not go out of my way to return for another meal.
Quaint restaurant in a nice location. The food and drinks were good. I had the daily special and every item on my plate was delicious! The staff was kind but the service was a little below par. Would definitely recommend the food and as states the staff was very kind just could be more organized and attentive.
Food was really good and was seated immediately with reservation. The only thing was the service was really bad. We didn't seem to have a dedicated waiter/waitress, and it was a challenge to get someone's attention. After receiving the menu, it took forever to get someone over to the table. After food arrived, nobody came around and asked us how the food was, do we need anything, just one person refilling water. Ordering the prix-fixe menu that came with dessert, our finished entrees were taking away, and then once again nobody came to us to show us the desert menu, or ask if we wanted anything else. Had to wave my hand in the air to grab someone. The people next to us were also commenting on the lack of service, and ultimately both our tables had to have this reflected on the tip. Great food, and therefore would consider again, but there needs to be better service or dedicated waiter/waitress per table that checks in with you.
We frequent restaurants for business purposes and my staff and visitors were very impressed with this restaurant. We would recommend to other departments throughout the hospital. Thank you keep doing what you do.
Absolutely delicious-shrimp polenta dish! Reasonably priced and great service!
Food was delicious. The salmon was amazing. Portions were very generous. Definitely going back.
The menu was somewhat limited, but six of us were all able to find something we could eat. Very “family friendly” at this time of year — with people going to, or coming from, the light show at the National Zoo
Had beet salad and the salmon with a few drinks. Fine, attentive service. Food was very good. In town for business. Good choice.
we had a good time with my kids and niece that was visiting from Miami
I made a reservation for 5 people. 2 in my party showed up first and the host couldn't find the reservation when either of them asked. Then they sat us at a 4-top that had little wings that flip up to make it a tiny circle right by the front door. Meanwhile a larger table sat empty for most of our meal until a walk-in party of 4 was seated there. Our waiter walks up and asks if we want to order food before we'd ordered drinks. He was friendly but service wasn't awesome. Food was good but not great. I don't think we would go back TBH.
We had really, really slow service. They had to remake my meal three times in order to get it right (due to food allergy, needing to keep something out). Our server was MIA. To boot, the food was really bland.
Had to come back a second... and then a third time during our DC visit.
We had a bit of a rocky start as it took a while for our server to come to the table and the bar was very backed up so I took a lot to get our drinks. But, it was uphill from that point forward. Our server was a doll & could not have been more accommodating. We were impressed with the food and the price was outstanding. We’ll be back!
Brunch was over cooked and yet cold on the plate.
Great food and really solid cocktails. Service could have been better though. Our drinks order was clearly not put in on a timely basis and our server was brusque when we came in with one more person in our party than on the reservation, which was an honest mistake. Overall, still a really good meal, which is the most important thing.
Menu was varied and food well-prepared. Enjoyed being able to converse and no TV’s.
This place was the dining highlight of our conference trip to DC! The food was just AMAZING, and such an interesting selection too. Service was incredibly good, even though the place was packed to the walls (at least 3 large groups too). The manager/owner/nice guy who greeted us at the door put TWO rounds of drinks on the house- we honestly couldn't believe it! We'd already had an awesome meal. I cannot recommend this place enough. We even got dessert although we were stuffed.
Amazing service and the food was stellar! We were a group of 6 going to dinner prior to out for a bachelorette and they were AMAZING! They even gave us recommendations on local spots to try which were a hit! 10/10 would go again!
So happy to have this gem in our neighborhood! Using the freshest of ingredients, the creative combinations in their dishes always delight. This can’t be easy with such an extensive menu. The atmosphere is vibrant with attentive service and tables nicely spaced to add to a feeling of relaxation.
This is a neighborhood gem. I have been driving past this location for years on my way to work or downtown. I finally tried it with a friend. It had a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, inviting bar, and the food did not disappoint. Seasonal menu, some italian mediterranean influence, but lots of small plate/appetizer options, interesting combinations. The food we each had was delicious, service was friendly and timely. And it didn't break the wallet. What was I waiting for to try The District Kitchen?
Glad we ate here while visiting DC. My daughter was disappointed that the salad dressing choices were limited, and a steak was a little more done than ordered, but we all very much enjoyed the meal. My father had paella for the first time and really enjoyed it!
I found this restaurant on open table while attending a conference around the corner at the Omni. It is a short walk in a nice neighborhood surrounded by other bars/restaurants.The ambiance is great, it feels cozy without being overcrowded. I had the NY strip and it was cooked perfectly medium rare; a great compliment for the Malbec that was a steal at $9/glass. My dinner companion had the daily fish, a delicious flounder. But the brusselsprouts- OMG the brusselsprouts- just order them, you won't regret it.
We finished dinner with a thick, fluffy, non-too-sweet creme brulee of my dreams
Loved the vibe, space, menu. Excellent service, a bit hands-off to allow old friends to catch up. Huge portions, a great combination of unique flavors in comfort-food presentation. My main complaint was the noise - this was not a good place for the intense conversation we tried to maintain. I left with a headache and sore throat from having to talk so loud to converse over the noise. I’d love to return, but would prefer an off-time when it isn’t so noisy.
Not bad neighborhood restaurant, decent food, ok value. Dining room in need of upgrade however, looked run down which hurts the ambience.
Excellent location only 4 blocks south and opposite the National Zoo Connecticut Ave entrance. Reservations are suggested. Varied menu and prices seemingly better than other DC restaurants. The service was spotty and that may have been because they weren't busy and we were forgotten. Outdoor dining available and parking is a challenge. You can't go wrong.
Love the half sizes entrees, because it allowed us to sample more options. The scallops seafood special was delicious! I also suggest a cocktail and to save room for dessert; the tiramisu and apple-fig bread pudding were both delicious!
We had an early dinner here and were quite surprised at the interesting menu and the quality of
the service. The cute umbrellas provided shade from the setting sun, and still allowed us to indulge
in people watching the pedestrian traffic. All in all a neighborhood gem.
Everyone in our party of six was pleased with the quality of the food and service. Reasonably priced. We went for Sunday brunch and never felt rushed.
Inside is a little sparse and deceiving. One would not expect the quality of food that is prepared here. The August soup special, tomato basil was delicious. Two of six ordered it and insisted everyone else at the table take a taste. The salmon was light and a flakey and served with a light tomato broth of fava beans and other minced veggies. Excellent
The server left us for 30 minutes at a time to go flirt with the underage hostess. It was rather repulsive. We finally asked another server if we could get another round of drinks and he brought them right away.
Great selection of food for healthy and diet restrictive individuals. Visited this restaurant twice in 2 days while staying in DC. Would highly recommend! The sangria and mojito were fabulous! Don’t miss this one!
Best burgers ever! We had the mac and cheese and bread and dipping sauce appetizers, SO GOOD. Then came the dry aged burgers. Whatever they do to them, they aren't kidding. My husband said the burger is one of the best he's ever had. Plus the staff was super friendly throughout the meal. The restaurant itself was super nice inside with brick walls and bar seating. If we weren't visiting from CT we would 100% go back. As it is, if we are in DC again we will be back!
Great brunch! Reasonably priced and good food. Would definitely go back!
