We chose District Commons for its proximity to the Kennedy Center and the varied menu. Our server, Victoria was outstanding both in her interactions with us and her efficient serving skills. We each had several items from the menu and most of them were quite delicious and one was less than stellar. The crab cake tasted fine but was so tightly compressed that it resembled a hard disk and was rather dry.

Once we got past the hostess, it was great. She had an attitude and that put a bad taste in our mouths. The food and the server were excellent. We may return - and hope the hostess is replaced!

We were going as a pretheater dinner. Our server was super conscious of that and made it work. Food was delish with lots of great options (Duck was super moist and flavorful; plated in a casual but fun way). Environment was great except there was a lot of noise but it was 6:30 on a Sat night and we were at a table vs. a booth--we expected noise! I would definitely go back and I would have given it 4.5 stars if that were possible.

We enjoyed our first time at District Commons on a visit to DC. The place has more of an upscale look and quieter ambiance than Founding Farmers ... which was our only other dining reference point on this DC trip. The food and drinks were good and pricing was on the mark. We both appreciated our waiter who was personable and really engaged with what the restaurant was offering and how our dining experience was. You won't be embarrassed to take friends, business associates or a date to this place. We had a nice time.

Went here for our 33rd wedding anniversary and pre-theatre dinner. Staff was friendly and made us feel it was a special night as soon as we walked in: "Happy Anniversary!" greeting; customized menus with the same message; complimentary sparkling wine for pre-dinner toast; and a complimentary dessert plate sampler at the end. And the food was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend the slow-roasted, braised pork shank and the pan seared scallops with lobster grits. Really a special dinner before we went to a great show at the Kennedy Center

District Commons is a great casual restaurant for pre-Kennedy Center event. They offer valet parking or there is a garage on 22nd Street just past Whole Foods. The variety of dishes will please most diners and the wine by the glass list has a nice variety. Wait staff are attentive, energetic and fun. Get a table by the windows to people watch the hustle and bustle of nearby GWU community. The front of the restaurant is low-noise for good table conversation too.

Alex was outstanding. Knew the menu well, gave us a birthday treat and was very attentive. The coconut pancakes with pineapple syrup were delightful, bacon was AWESOME and the huevos rancheros was yummy!! Definitely would go back!

We had a very nice pre-Kennedy Center show dinner. Food was very good and the waitress was outstanding, keeping cognizant of our time to make sure we weren't late for the show. Would definitely go back again.

District Commons is very good place to dine pre Kennedy Center because the food and service are good. We always take the KC bus to the Foggy Bottom Metro which is across the street.

Also, if you ask, you can be seated at a quiet table in the rear of the restaurant.

My daughter and I had brunch before we went to the Kennedy Center. The brunch menu varied and we were able to make substitutions to our meal. We splurged for dessert and had the chocolate velvet cake. It was decadent and delicious. I won’t hesitate to go back again.

First time visit and wanted to try before theater. Excellent service and food - from the soup to the trout and the portabello mushroom/quinoa entrees. Good wine selections. Highly recommend.

I am a regular diner of District Commons at Foggy Bottom. I like to bring friends and business partners here for lunch and dinner. The staff are always pleasant and accommodating. They have a great happy hour. The food is always good and fresh. Mixed drinks and wine are also very good!

I have dined at District Commons many times, and the service has always been outstanding. This was, unfortunately, not the case this evening. The food was as it always it, excellent, but the service was not. I was overlooked, passed from server to server, and generally not served well. This was a first for me. I'm certain just a bad night for them. I missed my regular server, Sammy.

We can’t say enough about the awesome meal we enjoyed. Oysters were sweet. Flatbread with lamb sausage was amazing. The three of us who had the amberjack special were delighted. The pumpkin dessert was delish. The restaurant is now a fav of ours in DC.

We ate dinner at District Commons prior to a Kennedy Center show. The service was really good. We ordered mussels as an appetizer, and for dinner the filet mignon, crab cakes, skirt steak and chicken. The food was fine. The mussel special was the hit of the night. We were surprised to see so many tables with kids, little kids, and things got a bit noisy because of that. We'd come back, though, for another dinner.

We came for an early dinner before a show. The service was okay, not sterling. The appetizers were good. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was not as expected, but tasted fine. The vegetable pies (tapas) were very good, and it was a good thing I had them, as my entree (meatloaf) was not very good. The meatloaf entree was extremely dense, the green beans were laying in lots of grease, the potatoes were okay. The scallops dinner was good, but there were only four scallops in a $30 dinner. The pretzel bread pre-dinner was actually very good with the mustard flavored butter.
Will not be back.

We went to dinner prior to seeing a show at The Kennedy Center. Our hostess made note of our time restraints. Our server was knowledgeable, professional and timely. Everyone at the table was very happy with their dinner selection. Another plus was that valet parking was available for us.

We went to District Commons for Sunday brunch. The eggs Benedict was good, but the home fries were awful. Tasteless, soggy and not hot. Egg white omelet was good, and the side of fruit with a small cup of yogurt was tasty. Service was perfunctory and not overly friendly.

This was our first time at District Commons but it certainly won't be our last! The menu was unique and tempting. The service was superb. And the noise level was perfect because of the area beyond the bar (which was extremely noisy as we passed through it) where we were seated. A definite winner!
