My daughter and I had brunch before we went to the Kennedy Center. The brunch menu varied and we were able to make substitutions to our meal. We splurged for dessert and had the chocolate velvet cake. It was decadent and delicious. I won’t hesitate to go back again.

First time visit and wanted to try before theater. Excellent service and food - from the soup to the trout and the portabello mushroom/quinoa entrees. Good wine selections. Highly recommend.

I am a regular diner of District Commons at Foggy Bottom. I like to bring friends and business partners here for lunch and dinner. The staff are always pleasant and accommodating. They have a great happy hour. The food is always good and fresh. Mixed drinks and wine are also very good!

I have dined at District Commons many times, and the service has always been outstanding. This was, unfortunately, not the case this evening. The food was as it always it, excellent, but the service was not. I was overlooked, passed from server to server, and generally not served well. This was a first for me. I'm certain just a bad night for them. I missed my regular server, Sammy.

We can’t say enough about the awesome meal we enjoyed. Oysters were sweet. Flatbread with lamb sausage was amazing. The three of us who had the amberjack special were delighted. The pumpkin dessert was delish. The restaurant is now a fav of ours in DC.

We wanted a convenient, walk-able mid-range place at which to meet friends. District Commons hit all those marks. We’ll continue to “use” it as such.

Went for brunch on New Year’s Day. Pretzel baguettes were delicious! Coconut pancakes were ridiculously tasty. Highly recommend for quality unpretentious brunch or everyday meal.

The food was just ok. The server gave the specials but did not inform us of the prices associated with them. We send back a omelette dish due to hair in the food.

Everything was great! My friend and I were there for New Year’s Eve bottomless brunch. Our server Philip was wonderful: attentive, kind, engaging, and knowledgeable among other things. The food was amazing! I would absolutely go back when in DC.

We ate dinner at District Commons prior to a Kennedy Center show. The service was really good. We ordered mussels as an appetizer, and for dinner the filet mignon, crab cakes, skirt steak and chicken. The food was fine. The mussel special was the hit of the night. We were surprised to see so many tables with kids, little kids, and things got a bit noisy because of that. We'd come back, though, for another dinner.

We came for an early dinner before a show. The service was okay, not sterling. The appetizers were good. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was not as expected, but tasted fine. The vegetable pies (tapas) were very good, and it was a good thing I had them, as my entree (meatloaf) was not very good. The meatloaf entree was extremely dense, the green beans were laying in lots of grease, the potatoes were okay. The scallops dinner was good, but there were only four scallops in a $30 dinner. The pretzel bread pre-dinner was actually very good with the mustard flavored butter.
Will not be back.

We went to dinner prior to seeing a show at The Kennedy Center. Our hostess made note of our time restraints. Our server was knowledgeable, professional and timely. Everyone at the table was very happy with their dinner selection. Another plus was that valet parking was available for us.

We went to District Commons for Sunday brunch. The eggs Benedict was good, but the home fries were awful. Tasteless, soggy and not hot. Egg white omelet was good, and the side of fruit with a small cup of yogurt was tasty. Service was perfunctory and not overly friendly.

This was our first time at District Commons but it certainly won't be our last! The menu was unique and tempting. The service was superb. And the noise level was perfect because of the area beyond the bar (which was extremely noisy as we passed through it) where we were seated. A definite winner!

A great place all around. Food was much better than I expected. Crab cakes were large and nicely done, shrimp and grits were really delicious (ham bits made for a good touch), duck was nicely done, even the veggies (spinach and sweet potatoes) were something special. Flatbread apps were nice - the shrimp was particularly good. Only disappointment was the burger, which was more like a giant slider. Cocktails were nicely done; good beer selection, too. Wait staff was attentive.

We enjoyed out meal. We arrived late but were seated promptly. Service was attentive but not oppressive. Food service was prompt and entrees were enjoyable. An interesting menu that encourages us to return to try other items. Desserts were especially well done. We enjoyed the experience and the finish to a peasant afternoon/evening outing. I was especially glad that we were able to hold private conversation across the table without difficulty. We would recommend District Commons and will add it to our list of places to revisit.

Food was delicious and creative! I loved the Brussel sprouts salad topped with bacon and a sunny side up egg. The wait staff was young, energetic and very knowledgeable about the menu. My friend has a few allergies and our waiter knew every ingredient in each dish so could answer all her detailed questions.

Party of three for Brunch on a Sunday. The Louisiana omelette was great; the coconut pancakes were great, but the chicken fried steak was inedible. Literally could not eat it - the steak was undercooked, very greasy and as tough as shoe leather. Brought this to the attention of the server, and was almost immediately provided a serving of chicken apple sausage in replacement. I didn't dare ask for a re-do on the chicken fried steak, as it would have been too risky. I was disappointed with the food, but the response from server and manager was great. Next time I will stick with the shrimp and grits, which District Commons definitely knows how to make!

Drinks took 20 minutes and after we got our food we didn’t see our server for 20 more minutes. Gravy on meatloaf was cold but trout and flat bread were very good. Manager was helpful and made up for our bad experience.

I ordered the roast duck and the portion was very large—a complete half duck. It was very well prepared, tasty with a crispy skin. My friend had the red pepper flatbread as an appetizer. It was also fairly large and round like a little pizza, unlike most flatbreads which are more long and oval. The portion on the mushroom tagliatelle was not as generous. Dessert was a little disappointing. More whipped cream than ice cream in the sundae and a very skimpy amount of pineapple. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The room is very noisy and I was surprised the dessert menu didn’t show any coffee or tea options.

We were there on Saturday night before a performance at Lisner. Our server asked about our timing and said she would arrange courses with kitchen so that we could leave by 7:00 for a 7:30 performance. It worked, but just barely: entree arrived at 6:45, so we had to eat it very quickly. Mussel appetizer and fish entrees were very good but high noise level made conversation difficult.
