The food was fantastic! We had the skirt steak, shrimp and grits, and the pan fried scallops. Phenomenal!! Definitely recommend. Make reservations.

We went on a Saturday and the menu is a brunch menu. Food was excellent - especially the cinnamon sugar pretzel baguette. They have bottomless bloody Mary’s and mimosas for brunch too. Our server, Johnny was excellent.

Very good American style Resteraunt but very noisy bar scene on a Friday night. Hard to have a conversation anywhere near the bar and noisy everywhere else. I had the duck that was excellent and highly recommended. Fried oysters a little bready but nice as well. There was a valet sign outside but no valet in sight. You can also park in the garage underneath on 22nd street for $11 but you need to go down 23rd or 21st and approach from 22nd street because it is one way headed north.

Food, atmosphere and service were all exceptional. My only complaint was the ladies bathroom was horrible. Someone needs to check in and maintain more often.

So loud we couldn’t hear each other across the table on a Thursday evening at 6. Meatloaf, rib “burger”, and crab cake were all very dry. “Burger” was TINY and WAY overpriced for what we got: barely appetizer sized but sold and priced as an entree. Everything seemed expensive in general. Shrimp cocktail was bland and at the edge of being firm/fresh. Red mussels were fine but only 3 small pieces of chorizo which didn’t impart much flavor to the gallon of broth in which the mussels were served. Rockfish nicely cooked with crispy skin, but served with a HUGE pile of lettuce as a side - just make this a salad entree with something more than lettuce and 6 cherry tomatoes or re-think the side. Overall don’t need to return.

The server was great as were all four meals that were ordered. Portions were reasonable for the cost and they all were very flavorful. It is a place where you need to try everything on the menu at least once.

I loved the service but the food was absolutely tasteless. I even suggested to my boyfriend to talk to the cook and see why they don't make their food with love. We were super hungry but still couldn't finish our dinner. We complained to the server and he was very kind and sweet to offer if we would like something else but at that point we didn't want any food from that place.

Management please taste your meatloaf and salmon dish (which we ordered) and tell me if that is how it should taste. Thanks and hope you look into providing better and more delicious food.

The overall experience was greater that we had anticipated! Everyone was genuinely pleased with how well everything went, the only downfall was that our table was seated next to the restroom although it was nice and secluded that was the only thing that was a little dissatisfying. Everyone was seated in a timely manner and there was even valet parking which made it even better. Our server Ross was the best at making us laugh and everyone feel welcome. My boyfriend enjoyed his friend's company and all the food for his birthday weekend celebration! I would definitely go visit sometime soon! And booking it through open table was really convenient.

We ate at District Common before going to the Kennedy Center. Completing the meal in the 90 minutes we allotted was difficult. It took forever to get our drinks and we ran out of time to get desert. It appeared that they have too few waiters to handle demand. I also find it annoying that it charges for bread. Not a go to restaurant for my money.

Food was very good. Waiter was attentive. Mimosa tasted off (but for $5 wasn't expecting great). Enjoyed breakfast quesadilla. Love the xxx salsa! My friend seemed to enjoy her quinoa & Portobello dish as well as her bloody marys.

Fabulous daily catch, and shrimp cocktail was delicious- waitress was fine but bar service was very slow due to bar crowd and lack of prioritizing dinner guests. We will return happily because the fish was stellar!

My colleague clearly indicated she has a tree nut allergy to our server. I also requested a salad with dressing on the side. Neither request was satisfied. The more problematic one, the allergy, was raised to our server who did not address with any degree of concern or energy. While the manager did attend to the situation, and provided this entree at no charge, it was a disappointing experience. With other good options close by, I will not return.

Unfortunately, we were pretty rushed after getting to the restaurant late and trying to make a showtime. But they got us seated immediately, and the waiter did an excellent job of getting everything out quickly and was attentive, even on a busy Saturday night. We didn't get to try everything I would have liked, so we are definitely planning to go back!

Louisiana omlette was dry and overcooked with sparse seafood in it. Fruit salad was average but a nice serving. 1/2 green salad was tasty. But I fathom to understand how a cook can overcook an omlette and then put it on a plate to serve. It was apparent the omlette was dry and overcooked. An omlette is not a difficult dish to prepare. The little bit of seafood inside was terrible. And I am a seafood lover. I went with a friend for brunch. It was my first and last visit. The waiter was excellent. But service and ambience cannot make up for a poorly made main dish.

I took my friend out for a birthday dinner and it just so happened to be around Restaurant Week which was wonderful because we were able to have such a delicious meal for a very reasonable fixed rate I like that they allow you to choose your entree of choice and you also were able to choose your dessert. the service we had was excellent. They took very good care of us. Definitely an impressive wine list.

We had a good experience. However, I made our reservation via Open Table and noted it was for a special occasion to celebrate an award my daughter had won. Disappointingly, no one mentioned it at all. In contrast, when we have made Open Table reservations at other restaurants like Seasons 52 for other special occasions, the hosts have congratulated us, the waiters have congratulated us, and we have received complementary drinks and desserts. Just a simple congrats would have been nice.

Another great meal at District Commons. The place is exceptionally convenient to the Foggy Bottom metro and it was absolutely hopping. I requested a quite table for a business discussion and they accommodated us with great table. Appetizers (flatbread, cheeses and meat) were fantastic. Great local beers and an extensive wine selection. I had the blackened Mahi Mahi special and it was really great. Excellent portion, serviced with a wonderful salad and the taste was fantastic. Great service throughout the night. No rush, lots of water, very attentive.

We went for a Restaurant Week dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. Our waitress was very attentive to make sure we got out on time, and the food selection was terrific: you could choose any main course on the regular menu, not just from a limited list. My friend had the duck, and I had the scallops and we were both very pleased with our selections. The availability of half bottles of wine is also a nice feature. Overall it was a great evening.

We chose District Commons for its proximity to the Kennedy Center and the varied menu. Our server, Victoria was outstanding both in her interactions with us and her efficient serving skills. We each had several items from the menu and most of them were quite delicious and one was less than stellar. The crab cake tasted fine but was so tightly compressed that it resembled a hard disk and was rather dry.

Five of us had brunch at District Common before the theater and it was really perfect. The service was outstanding. We could enjoy chatting and could hear each other, which is important to my group--all in our 70s. We loved the food and will definitely be back again and again.

We were going as a pretheater dinner. Our server was super conscious of that and made it work. Food was delish with lots of great options (Duck was super moist and flavorful; plated in a casual but fun way). Environment was great except there was a lot of noise but it was 6:30 on a Sat night and we were at a table vs. a booth--we expected noise! I would definitely go back and I would have given it 4.5 stars if that were possible.

We enjoyed our first time at District Commons on a visit to DC. The place has more of an upscale look and quieter ambiance than Founding Farmers ... which was our only other dining reference point on this DC trip. The food and drinks were good and pricing was on the mark. We both appreciated our waiter who was personable and really engaged with what the restaurant was offering and how our dining experience was. You won't be embarrassed to take friends, business associates or a date to this place. We had a nice time.

Went here for our 33rd wedding anniversary and pre-theatre dinner. Staff was friendly and made us feel it was a special night as soon as we walked in: "Happy Anniversary!" greeting; customized menus with the same message; complimentary sparkling wine for pre-dinner toast; and a complimentary dessert plate sampler at the end. And the food was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend the slow-roasted, braised pork shank and the pan seared scallops with lobster grits. Really a special dinner before we went to a great show at the Kennedy Center

District Commons is a great casual restaurant for pre-Kennedy Center event. They offer valet parking or there is a garage on 22nd Street just past Whole Foods. The variety of dishes will please most diners and the wine by the glass list has a nice variety. Wait staff are attentive, energetic and fun. Get a table by the windows to people watch the hustle and bustle of nearby GWU community. The front of the restaurant is low-noise for good table conversation too.
