Everything was fine, but our waitress took plates and silverware away while I was still enjoying my appetizer
She and a colleague stood right behind our table chatting loudly, kind of distracting...
Restaurant was fairly quiet, so not sure why we were seated at a tiny table between others when there was plenty of space...
This experience was not my first at district commons, and I have to say that I’m utterly disappointed. The hostess was rude and acted as tho she was too bothered to seat us. Our waiter was inattentive and didn’t check on us or the table behind us ONCE. We saw him socializing in the corner with the other staff, but he couldn’t be bothered to attend to us. It took 20 minutes after finishing desert for us to see him again, and when we did he walked right past his tables without even looking at us. We had to flag him down for our check. The staff was completely aloof and unaware. As someone who has worked in the food service industry, I know that this attitude and atmosphere comes from poor management.
Dinner was fine but not filling and not worth the price. Desert (creme brûlée) was cold on top and not tasty at all.
Overall, very disappointed.
Perfect spot for dinner and a cocktail before a show at the Kennedy Center.
I had requested a table in a quiet section and to my delight, we were ushered to a table beyond everyone else's that was in a quiet alcove. We were so pleased and thoroughly enjoyed the food, the wine, the service and the evening! Thank you District Commons for being able to accommodate those "of a certain age" whose hearing is challenged in a noisy restaurant.
Server was very nice. The blower level was a bit high.
The service and the food are always excellent at District Commons. Everything is consistently excellent. Sammy and Jasmine are way above par as servers. I can always depend on District Commons people and food.
Great food and great atmosphere. It was a great Wednesday night dinner. Thank you
Loved it! Great service, great food!
Always a fun place with great energy. The old fashioned cocktail was subpar but the Manhattan was enjoyable. The food was outstanding. We will continue to return when in town.
My potatoes tasted freezer burned and the French toast like it had been sitting uncovered in the fridge all day. Steak and eggs were okay. A little too fatty which was unpleasant
Great location for an easy pre-Kennedy Center dinner.
Food was good and came out hot and quickly, but the service was pretty poor. Our waitress hardly ever talked to us when she came to our table, hastily removed silverware and dishes and never even asked if we were done before removing plates from our table when we were done with dinner. Never asked if we wanted dessert either, just dropped off dessert menus and never even said anything to us or recommended anything. I came here once a few years ago and the service was excellent. This time it was pretty disappointing.
Consistently good food, drinks, and service. Noisier at a weekday lunch hour than on the weekends. Great for before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center as the shuttle is half a block away.
Excellent place to grab a meal before a kennedy center performance. The créme brulée was beautiful and enough to share. Your staff was very pleasant and I will be back!!
Shrimp and grits were great. Salmon was only average.
Always a great place to go with friends to relax with good food.
Hard to ruin a prime rib sandwich but they managed. Slathered it with greasy gravy, so you can’t even taste the meat, and provided an extra cup of greasy “dip” in case you felt they hadn’t spoiled it enough. What a waste.
Server was nice but the entrees came out about a minute after the appetizers which was a problem. I ordered salmon and server said the chef prefers medium which I do also. It was over cooked and dried out. We were never asked if we wanted drink refills. Overall- a disappointing experience and I won’t be back.
Everyone had fun. The mimosas were amazing. The service was fast. Will definitely come back soon.
If you want to enjoy your guests, insist on a booth at the back. Otherwise the noise is deafening. Buzzy can be overdone and it was.
Food at dinner is fine, though a bit pricey for what it is. The flatbread is a good deal and well done, like a tarte flambée. Lots of seafood. Dessert choices limited unless you adore chocolate.
There are reasonably priced bottles of wine.
The food was very good and very creative. Salads were delicious and the flatbread yummy. The waiter knew his specials well and was very attentive, though not overly intrusive. Very nice meal!
Excellent service and very kind staff. Really went above and beyond. Great table, excellent food and atmosphere, highly recommended. Location is key too.
Made reservation for 7 people for Saturday evening: 2 more tagged along. Arrived and had two wait a couple of minutes but they sat all 9 of us relatively quickly and didn't bat an eye that we had more people.
Was recommended by a colleague and I would not hesitate to recommend it myself!
Table of 5 talking, sat next to noisy happy hour so talking was difficult and service was just OK.
Good service. Attentive to allergies. Great flavors . Truly surprised and pleased. Thank you.
This is a lovely venue for dining - lunch or dinner. The menu is varied (my personal favorite is the seafood Cobb salad). Portions are generous and well prepared. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. There's nothing to criticize here - just a great restaurant with great food and no "drama"!
Food was mostly very good. Service wasn’t great, though. We wanted to share an appetizer (the pig platter), a salad, and then a main course. They brought the appetizer, then a long wait and they brought the salad and entree together. The salad (caeser) was uninspired and forgettable. The main course (duck) was delicious.
We wanted to have a quick meal prior to seeing a show at The Kennedy Center. Our waitress was great, she gave us great recommendations in regards to food and wine. Food was out promptly, and we were on our way. We booked for 12:00 pm on a Sunday, and were out by 1:20 pm.
Great food! My husband and I went for brunch on a Saturday. We got the bottomless mimosas and our waiter was very great about keeping our glasses filled.
Arrived 10 min early, seated 10 min late.
Table service for water another 10-15 min.
Waitress nice but disappeared for long amounts of time.
Served off restaurant week appetizer (1) shortly after we waited > 10 min for drinks.
2nd off restaurant week appetizer didn’t come
1sr course took approx 20 min even after waitress brought appetizer silverware 10 min into wait ...10 more minutes
When they finally realized how they ignored us they sorta inc attention.
They finally delivers 2nd app after we asked for it to be removed form order...did not Charge us
Almost a 2 hour duration
The good-chowder and pretzel bread and butter mustard, fried green tomatoes (yellow and smothered in sauce)
The fair- fried oysters, scallops, duck, creme Burlee, bread pudding
The bad-crab cakes—3 SHELLS MY WIFE PULLED OUT
THE REALLY BAD-never an apology or visit from manager
THE OBSCENE...paying > $200 and 15% tip even though above
Did not go for restaurant week just flew in to visit our son...no reason for us to come back on our next visit
Restaurant week so maybe they were overwhelmed??? So-so service, so-so food.
Our server was absolutely AMAZING! Bettina was very attentive and kept our drinks full. I would highly recommend District Commons to anyone, if they are lucky enough to get Bettina you will have a great time!
modern décor, good American menu, friendly service
My only complaint is that the temperature in the resturant was a little cold. So next time I will have a sweater because the food definitely tasted like....some more 😋
Went with a friend to Restaurant Week at District Common to show off a place I love. It lived up to everything I knew it would! The music was great in the background, the food was hot and delicious and the service was beyond amazing. We felt like the only two people he was spoiling that day. One of my favorite times at District Commons. Always, ALWAYS a great time.
Very pleasant waitress and great service! I had the restaurant week menu and everything I ordered was excellent! Heirloom tomato gazpacho, shrimp and grits and butterscotch creme brulee - I highly recommend them all.
Love the new menu items -- especially the crab nachos and the chicken spring rolls.
Food is good.... nothing special though. Our service is what stood out. Our service person was always in a hurry. It took 15 minutes before anyone came to ask if we wanted anything to drink. Our food came out in drips.... my meal followed 5 mins later by my husbands and after asking twice, our Brussels sprouts showed up. ( halfway through the meal). The service lady just plunked down the check and never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. We were so irritated that we paid and left.
The service her is fantastic! Sammi our waiter was fantastic. He had a trainee with him the night we were there and I can see why they would give him that responsibility. He checked on our table just enough time to make sure we had everything we needed without making us feel disturbed or rushed. The other staff are great also. I went to the restroom at once point during the evening only to come back to the table and find my napkin refolded. The food was great and must say is one of the few times I have ordered a steak "medium" at a restaurant where it indeed was cooked correctly. I would recommend District Commons to anyone who would like a special evening with great food!
It’s normally a hit when I go and even if I have something to complain about it’s not a big deal. I love District Commons!
