Good service. Attentive to allergies. Great flavors . Truly surprised and pleased. Thank you.
This is a lovely venue for dining - lunch or dinner. The menu is varied (my personal favorite is the seafood Cobb salad). Portions are generous and well prepared. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. There's nothing to criticize here - just a great restaurant with great food and no "drama"!
Food was mostly very good. Service wasn’t great, though. We wanted to share an appetizer (the pig platter), a salad, and then a main course. They brought the appetizer, then a long wait and they brought the salad and entree together. The salad (caeser) was uninspired and forgettable. The main course (duck) was delicious.
We wanted to have a quick meal prior to seeing a show at The Kennedy Center. Our waitress was great, she gave us great recommendations in regards to food and wine. Food was out promptly, and we were on our way. We booked for 12:00 pm on a Sunday, and were out by 1:20 pm.
Great food! My husband and I went for brunch on a Saturday. We got the bottomless mimosas and our waiter was very great about keeping our glasses filled.
Arrived 10 min early, seated 10 min late.
Table service for water another 10-15 min.
Waitress nice but disappeared for long amounts of time.
Served off restaurant week appetizer (1) shortly after we waited > 10 min for drinks.
2nd off restaurant week appetizer didn’t come
1sr course took approx 20 min even after waitress brought appetizer silverware 10 min into wait ...10 more minutes
When they finally realized how they ignored us they sorta inc attention.
They finally delivers 2nd app after we asked for it to be removed form order...did not Charge us
Almost a 2 hour duration
The good-chowder and pretzel bread and butter mustard, fried green tomatoes (yellow and smothered in sauce)
The fair- fried oysters, scallops, duck, creme Burlee, bread pudding
The bad-crab cakes—3 SHELLS MY WIFE PULLED OUT
THE REALLY BAD-never an apology or visit from manager
THE OBSCENE...paying > $200 and 15% tip even though above
Did not go for restaurant week just flew in to visit our son...no reason for us to come back on our next visit
Restaurant week so maybe they were overwhelmed??? So-so service, so-so food.
Our server was absolutely AMAZING! Bettina was very attentive and kept our drinks full. I would highly recommend District Commons to anyone, if they are lucky enough to get Bettina you will have a great time!
modern décor, good American menu, friendly service
My only complaint is that the temperature in the resturant was a little cold. So next time I will have a sweater because the food definitely tasted like....some more 😋
Went with a friend to Restaurant Week at District Common to show off a place I love. It lived up to everything I knew it would! The music was great in the background, the food was hot and delicious and the service was beyond amazing. We felt like the only two people he was spoiling that day. One of my favorite times at District Commons. Always, ALWAYS a great time.
Very pleasant waitress and great service! I had the restaurant week menu and everything I ordered was excellent! Heirloom tomato gazpacho, shrimp and grits and butterscotch creme brulee - I highly recommend them all.
Love the new menu items -- especially the crab nachos and the chicken spring rolls.
Food is good.... nothing special though. Our service is what stood out. Our service person was always in a hurry. It took 15 minutes before anyone came to ask if we wanted anything to drink. Our food came out in drips.... my meal followed 5 mins later by my husbands and after asking twice, our Brussels sprouts showed up. ( halfway through the meal). The service lady just plunked down the check and never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. We were so irritated that we paid and left.
The service her is fantastic! Sammi our waiter was fantastic. He had a trainee with him the night we were there and I can see why they would give him that responsibility. He checked on our table just enough time to make sure we had everything we needed without making us feel disturbed or rushed. The other staff are great also. I went to the restroom at once point during the evening only to come back to the table and find my napkin refolded. The food was great and must say is one of the few times I have ordered a steak "medium" at a restaurant where it indeed was cooked correctly. I would recommend District Commons to anyone who would like a special evening with great food!
It’s normally a hit when I go and even if I have something to complain about it’s not a big deal. I love District Commons!
Great date spot
Overall experience was pleasurable. Ambiance, noise level and wait staff hit the right tone. Will definitely go back again.
Food was fantastic. Loved the draft beer specials they were running at the time. Service was exceptional and our food came out to us FAST considering that the restaurant was over half-full.
Food was exceptional!! Wine list was a disaster. Service very slow. But the food! Delicious!!
Great service and great food that came just as ordered!
Very nice Saturday Brunch...the food was GREAT. And service was excellent! The menu has many great selections. I would recommend District Commons. Look forward to returning.
The scallops were excellent. We loved the fig & pig flatbread, mussels, soft shell crab & salmon too. We would definitely recommend.
I'm a frequent diner/drinker at DC, but this week both myself and a companion were sickened after eating there. Both of us had seafood, specifically shrimp (she had the shrimp & grits, I had the seafood Cobb). A third companion who had steak felt no ill effects. Unfortunately for me, I felt ill during a subsequent performance that night at Kennedy Center, so dining at DC ended up ruining the night for two of us. Note to DC: Might want to double check this week's "fresh" catch.
Go for the cocktails and starters. The southwestern grilled shrimp flatbread was delicious. Entrees (blackened mahi-mahi and crab cakes) were uninspiring and kind of bland.
Service was great but the over-priced food isn't tasty enough for me to return or recommend to a friend.
Was not seated for 15 minutes despite having a reservation. Then were completely forgotten by the server after having the water delivered
Cocktails were the highlight - appetizers were good main courses were just not good
Food was good. Waiter was great. Food service took a while. I believe this was due to the kitchen or expeditor being slow, not the fault of our waiter. Several of the wait staff were waiting at the window for the food to come out.
The food was disappointing. The duck was dry the, flavor bland, and the skin was absolutely not crispy, which is the only good way to cook duck. The fig and pig flatbread was very good but the south Philly was terrible. It claimed provolone cheese but it the taste and texture screamed velveeta. I like that the caesar has actual anchovies and the fried green tomatoes were good. The ice and fire cocktail was a hit.
Went to enjoy the Happy Hour specials, which only are available in the bar area, and was disappointed to see that most of the tables were reserved for a private party. We arrived early since I thought reservations were not available for the bar tables.
We were able to get seated in the main dining room and enjoyed a good meal, but I would like to suggest that the happy hour specials be available in the main dining area when the bar has been reserved.
water dripping (hopefully from A/C) on patrons and table was not welcome
I got the Fig & Pig flatbread and it was delicious! However, I would recommend quartering the fig and maybe putting just a little less of the bacon on it.
Food was delicious and expertly prepared. Service was courteous and not intrusive. Will definitely return to sample more menu items.
I wasn't impressed with my meal or with the three other meals that were served at our table. I felt the menu was heavy on seafood options and I'm not a big seafood fan, so that was disappointing. I settled on a flatbread pizza that tasted mediocre at best. My husband's pork chop and my daughter's steak were average...nothing special. The only thing that I was impressed with was the hostesses and our waitress. We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us instead of waiting 30 mins for the reservation time. Also, our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.
"It's good." That's what you might tell a friend or acquaintance if they're thinking about going. Nothing extraordinary or special, but pretty good - I think it depends on what you get - but it's a reliable place, especially for when you're going to the Kennedy Center afterwards - the shuttle bus is basically across the street. The seafood Cobb salad was yummy - I enjoyed it very much (though the traditional dressing was good, I thought they could have offered a dressing that was a little more different, unique, or interesting as well). The roast duck was great, according to my husband, and the portion was huge. The soft-shell crabs were good, but too much deep-fried batter - their flavor really shines when dusted in corn meal and flour and sauteed in butter/olive oil - why add so much grease? Sometimes simpler is better. The tagliatelle was decidedly bland - you have to think a little bit outside the box when offering such a basic pasta dish; we could have made that at home, and way better. The roasted mushroom flatbread and pretzel baguette were delicious, the drinks were great, the service was very good. Too bad we didn't have time for dessert! All around good American fare, although, since we have been there before, I can say that I think it's time for them to shake things up a bit.
I thought the space was very nice with a great vibe but was disappointed in the food. My eggs benedict yolks were hard, I had o send it back. The breakfast potatoes were limp and looked like they were out of a bag. The only thing our table liked was the person with the burger. If you are supposed to be know for brunch, then get eggs right.
Went for dinner on Friday night. Good, friendly service but the kindest word I can use to describe the food is mediocre. Both the appetizer we ordered and my entree were bland and lacking flavor. Will say the pasta was cooked properly though. Overall very disappointing.
District Commons was a great place to meet up with an old friend. Quiet, excellent service, amazing food, and good wine (as suggested by the waiter).
District Commons is wonderful for a meal before the Kennedy Center or a quick lunch in Foggy Bottom or a fun place for after work happy hour- its menu has items to please many different tastes and all family members- and its cocktail menu is outstanding
