Good overall, but service could have been more friendly!
Steaks were great as well as the pretzel bread. Portions were good size and we ate it all!
Wonderful dinner, great service-and well-done food. Perfect even-in/g.
Would recommend for location. Food was OK and not hot when it arrived. Bottomless bloody Mary’s and mimosas were disappointing too.
We were a party of 10 and we liked the place very much. Service was good and the food average, but certainly I recommend the place. The possibility of having a late meal is also very attractive.Hope to come backto Washington and visit District Commons again.
Restaurant had good, lively vibe, it's open and pretty bar area. We asked for a quiet table in the back, which was perfect for the two of us wanting to unwind and connect after the hussle-n-bussle of site-seeing. Our server was very attentive and outgoing. Great wine list. The food was okay, not fabulous. We had the crab cakes, prime rib and sirloin. Beef itself and sauces were good, everything else mediocre. I'd suggest it is a great place for a drink/glass of wine.
Even though it was a Saturday, brunch was relatively quiet. Amazing staff, fantastic food, and perfect ambiance. Definitely will be returning.
The cheese grits were great! Wine list is very interesting as well. Tried the Tempranillo from Texas. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed meeting our son for dinner at District Commons. We traveled from IL to visit with him, and he suggested it based on reviews he had read. We were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. The selection of menu items was very attractive, and our server was attentive, even though the restaurant was very busy on this Saturday evening. The location is convenient for anyone taking the Metro. I highly recommend this restaurant. We plan to visit it again next time we are in the DC area.
We were surprised that the shrimp cocktail only had 6 shrimp.
very fast and friendly service with lot's of attention from our Server
Arrived at opening. Had to request a clean knife and then a clean bread plate. Felt annoyance from waiter. Ordered cheese and meat platter as starter and received no explanation on the 3 cheese options. Biscuits which they are known for from Acadiana were dry and hard. Too long sitting out. Requested glass of wine but they were out. Waiter did not suggest an alternative. Ordered flatbread and Mac and cheese. Just ok. Spouse ordered brick chicken. Vegetable was TOO GARLICKY spinach- not edible. Received pretzel loaf which was also dried out. Had my water glass refilled from a different pitcher and taste was not good. Changed to iced tea. Boxed up leftovers. They did not have a handle bag to transport. Ready to leave and was presented with 4 small bite desserts as frequent diner. Not appetizing- left them on table. Will not return.
Always a great experience! Delicious food and cocktails, good service, lively brunch atmosphere.
The restroom was very dirty
Given it was a Saturday evening, the noise level was high when we arrived. I had requested a booth, if available, in a quieter spot. We did get that but the table had the door to get to bathrooms right behind it. No big deal, but lots of traffic. The waitstaff was great, food and drink delicious. We had the Pig Board w/ added cheeses, prime rib, and our sides were Brussels Sprouts and au gratin potatoes - all yummy. We ordered the Carmelized Chocolate bread pudding with bourbon caramel ice cream for dessert, which was good.
Very loud venue, quite hard to talk to each other across the tables and due to no back ground music makes it feel less comfortable, but most tables seemed to be happy.
The service was slow which meant that we decided to pass on the desert although it did look good. The food was good, the steak was quite fatty which was disappointing and the duck was certainly generous but then with so many amazing restaurants out there it’s hard as you compare to previous places.
Unfortunately our server messed up a few times, the cocktail was wrong, the bill had additional mistakes and the food arrived incorrectly. Med well steak when it shouldve been medium rare. It was unfortunate.
Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, making perfect recommendations for the table. Noise level was HIGH and detracts from an otherwise lovely evening - the menu is impressive and everyone at our table absolutely loved their orders. Shrimp and grits is outstanding, and the pork chop also got high marks. The Pony Express cocktail is a perfect compliment. I'll definitely return!
Food is good and some vegetarian options. Service is great, and important since I often go there before a Kennedy Center event. Glad to have some quiet tables in the back as I like to actually hear what my friends are saying, and have a conversation. Nice ambiance.
My entire experience at district commons was great from the moment I arrived to when I left. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was comfortable and attractive. The food was great - if only I could’ve had everything!
First time there but we'll be back. Our waiter, Oscar, was terrific, and the food was great. The seafood chowder was wonderful, actually had lots of lumps of lobster. Nice wine and cocktail menu. It wasn't too noisy, even as the bar filled up, we could talk in our booth. Will definitely be back
Server (Ross?) and manager went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful anniversary celebration.
The food is really good! The brunch menu is better than their dinner menu.
Great food, friendly staff, great location, great ambiance.
My server was very attentive and polite. Food was cooked to perfection and bottomless mimosas was a plus!
Food was about what I expected, but the fast service (especially during the busy brunch time) was pretty solid. The restaurant wasn't completely full but it definitely felt packed with a very high noise level that made it difficult to hear people at my table.
Rather common... Nothing special. Crabcakes are miniscule and oil used for fries could be renewed more often.
Terrific food. The service was unobtrusive yet prompt. Good list of beers. Great for business lunch.
Outstanding service for a group of 6 on a busy night. The food was well-prepared and tasty. I would patronize District Commons agan.
Nice location and excellent service, but food was very ordinary and wife left hungry. For 100 dollars, I dont feel that I should have to stop for snacks afterward.
Our go-to restaurant when we're in DC. Highly recommended.
Although I've been to the bar at District Commons, I've never dined there before. Friends and I decided to eat there following a concert at the Kennedy Center. First, you need to know that my friends can be quite picky about restaurants, and both of them were raving about their meals. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our experience there. We no plan to make it our default place to eat before/after Kennedy Center performances.
Wonderful! Greeted nicely and didn’t even have to tell them it was a birthday
We were visiting from out of town. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our server made great recommendations. I LOVE that they put their kids menu online. That made this restaurant stand out among others. Overall, we loved it!
Had a Birthday brunch with my sister. Everything was Amazing! Mimosas, food, staff, everything.
Suggest getting the beet salad and add a protein. The crab cake are not worth it, esp if you compare to Clydes
beet avacado salad was delicious; fish was delicious as well
Go for the pretzel baguette—it’s outrageous. Had the Huevos Rancheros and it was excellent. Wonderful brunch. Go before 1300 so you can really enjoy the bottomless mimosas.
This was one of the best meals we’ve had out in a very long time. Our waitress was amazing and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back.
