Make a reservation using the app and you'll probably get seated immediately. The place is super loud, lots of energy. The drinks were really good and the service was fast. I had the salad that comes with deviled eggs...really awesome and the shrimp and grits, very flavorful and a great price. I will go back if I'm in that area of the city again to try some of their other dishes.

Excellent cuisine; we had the skirt steak - perfectly cooked and tender - and scallops that were cooked to perfection. Very pleased!

District Commons has been a go to for me some time. Convenient location to meet friends, right by Foggy Bottom Metro. Good food, good atmosphere. Jonathan, our server on this latest visit, was awesome; when I ordered our usual pretzel bread before the other person came, he suggested waiting a little, then timed things so the bread came quickly and HOT at the right time. He was attentive without being intrusive. I recommend District Commons and Jonathan!

I would rate the food at the District Commons as nothing special. The egg whites were runny and not one of the 6 of us liked the potato hash served with breakfast. All 6 in my group agreed they won't be returning.

Let me preface this by saying that I almost never give reviews- my experience at District Commons was good enough, however, to warrant sharing it. My date and I arrived at the restaurant for an 11am brunch before heading to the Kennedy Center for a matinee. The service was incredible, and our server Chris left one of the more memorable impressions I've ever had at a restaurant.

For food, we split the French Toast- it is labeled as a starter, but could easily be an entree. I had the country fried steak, and tried a bite of her shrimp and grits; they were both some of the best I've ever had!

We also opted for the bottomless mimosas, which truly were bottomless- I'm not quite sure how much either of us had by the time we left, because it seemed Chris would be there to fill up our glasses as soon as we'd gone halfway through them. HIGHLY recommended.

Overall, the experience and food was absolutely excellent, and even after the performance was over, we found ourselves talking about the brunch as much as the play itself.

We had some Manhattens at the bar which were amazing. Then moved to a table and while the food was good, the Manhattens were lame since we weren’t in front of the bartender. Bottom line order your drinks at the bar if you want amazing. Go to your table and don’t expect much since you’re just another cocktail

I had Saturday brunch here and it was wonderful. They have bottomless mimosas and bloodys (if that's your thing). I highly recommend the brussel sprout salad with the fried egg (yum!)

Scallops undercooked, lobster grits so salty no one at table could stomach them. Husband’s duck dish, pretzel loaf and drinks good. Waitress was sweet and quick and hostess staff very accommodating. Staff and service best part. Bar area probably best bet.

Our server, Jeff, may the evening very enjoyable. He was very cordial and attentive to our needs, despite having several other tables in his service area. The food was very good, although the lobster grits served with the seared scallops was very salty and detracted from the overall dish. The trout entrée and barramundi chef's special served at our table were both excellent.

Food and service were very good, (crab cake and the slaw was scrumptious), but I was disappointed in the hot pretzel and my drink. The pretzel wasn’t as delicious as it usually is and I guess I ordered the wrong drink - a hoptail - beer and tequila not good.

Host saw we were dressed nicely and gave us a quiet booth in the back. Our server also noticed and asked if we were going somewhere we needed to get to on time. Excellent service throughout. Food was fantastic! Only error was my double espresso was served in a coffee cup with a regular size spoon! A double should fit in a regular espresso cup and be served with the small spoon. The mini Snickers made me overlook the faupa! Go . . . It's gooood!

We arrived 15 minutes early for a 5:30 reservationand the place was empty. Greeting was not friendly and the woman told us we would have to wait until 5:30 to be seated...not what we expected all the way around

Went for dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. Food was pretty good. Staff was very friendly. Not overly memorable except that I thought the oysters were fantastic. No real complaints except that our waiter seemed to forget about us as the meal progressed.

Our reservation was at 6pm. Our waitress was fantastic. The first thing she asked was if we were trying to make a show at the Kennedy Center (yes), and what time it started (7:30) so she could make sure to have us out in time. Our food came super fast; like, less than ten minutes after we ordered it was sitting in front of us. My friend didn't like her mushroom flatbread, and the waitress offered to bring her something else. I really liked my mushroom pasta, so my friend ordered that too. They brought that replacement, again, super fast. We were out of there in well under an hour and had plenty of time to get to our 7:30 show. Our waitress even directed us out a different door that let us out closer to the metro and shuttle stop, since it was raining the entire time we were at dinner. Overall a great experience, even with my friend not liking her original dish.

Normally like this place. However, we had reserved a table at 5:30pm and got there at 5pm to for Happy Hour. It was busy and we couldn't get drinks in time, so we just got seated and assumed we would get HH rates. I understand that its against policy, but it would have been nice to get it out of courtesy considering we did attempt to get drinks from the bar and lounged around for a half hour without drinks. We did get one round of HH drinks but that HH prices only applied to 2 out of the 4 ppl who got drinks because it "only applied to the ppl who ordered AFTER we were told they will give us the one round." It was awkward. We felt like we were an inconvenience.

We were really looking forward to having a special birthday brunch here. The server was very nice. However, even though we ordered what the waiter recommended, our food was just okay. The portions were small and it was hard to find the meat and the seafood in our respective omelets. They were out of the breakfast cinnamon bread and out of mint tea and skim or lowfat milk. The server explained this was because it was the end of the restaurant's week. This explanation confused us since it's a brunch place. Overall, quite an underwhelming brunch experience.

The waiter was very attentive however I wasn't pleased with my entree (Simply Fish). I thought the fish (Sea Bass) was bland and serving size was small. The accompanying salad took up 3/4 of the serving plate.

We went to District Commons for brunch on Saturday. It has a great appearance - nice table setting, right near a bunch of things to do, and obviously bottomless mimosas and bloodies. Our service was sub par and we were left with empty mimosas time and time again. They also ran out of champagne flutes and one of my friends had to wait for one to come back instead of them serving the mimosa in a wine glass or a plastic cup for all we cared. The food wasn't anything special. I probably wouldn't recommend for brunch, but they do have a very extensive beer, wine, and liquor list if that's something important to you.

Had a really nice meal of Roast Duck at District Commons. Food was excellent as was the beer list. The service was kind of slow even though it did not seem very busy. The gorup was headed to a concert so time mattered. Had to wait a long time to get initial service and drinks from the bar. But service issues were overcome by the quality of the food and great location.

We will not be going back. The scallops were so oversalted as to be almost inedible. Service was slow. Presentation of the food was very poor, took forever to come out of the kitchen, and we were seated right after the restaurant opened! I will say the Brussels Sprouts salad was very good. Too bad the rest of the food did not measure up.

Very disappointed at the lack of service for birthday celebration. No reason to have to chase down the waiter for birthday cake after paying $4/plate cake service. The food was also very mediocre. The omelette was more like an egg pancake with stuff stuck inside, as opposed to being incorporated into the omlette. Avoid District Commons.

My hash and eggs was pretty good. My wife's eggs benedict, the muffin wasn't toasted and the hollandaise was a little weird. Now to the service -- the cinnamon pretzel my wife ordered thinking it would come before the eggs showed up as an afterthought when her eggs were done. And my bloody mary -- a very good bloody mary, I'll give them that -- instead of arriving before the eggs was delivered when I was 3/4 done. All in all, not worth going back.

This was my second visit to District Commons and just as my first experience, the food, cocktails, service and atmosphere was great. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable as they seamlessly provide team service throughout the restaurant. My only criticism would be the presentation of the shrimp cocktail . . . while the shrimp was perfectly prepared, I was expecting a more creative presentation than a dinner plate with a mound of ice and six shrimp.

One of our favorite restaurants when we're attending an event at the Kennedy Center. The shuttle from the Kennedy Center is very convenient leaving us with a very short walk to the restaurant. It is a busy place in a busy area which makes it an exciting and vibrant place in DC. The Manhattan and Old Fashioned we had before dinner were delicious and our meals left us completely satisfied. Each of us had a special for the day, crab cakes and mahi-mahi and both were terrific. We enjoy District Commons every time we go.

The seafood Cobb salad was fine but contained large chunks of fatty bacon that distracted from the seafood. The fried dumpling was dry and the grilled shrimp salad had a minimum dressing. This was a special lunch with out of town guests and it was not what I expected. What a disappointment. Service was fine.
