District Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Overall experience was very good. One area that could be improved is checking in for your reservation. It is tight and a little chaotic. No one greeted you as you walked in. People are trying to check in and people are walking in and out of the restaurant. I had to go back and forth twice to check in because they wouldn't come to the bar to get me. I couldn't tell who were the staff and who were the customers. Waiter was pleasant but seemed distracted. Forgot a couple of things. Maybe too many tables for him. The waiter could have used more help with filling water glasses or clearing table. Food was very good and timely. My first experience at District Chophouse was very good and I would come back.
Had a business meal with colleagues from Finland, and they quite enjoyed it, as I did. Can be difficult to go out for meals with foreign travelers when the menu is unclear, noise level is too high for clear communication among diners or with servers, or when the service is poor. Atmosphere, lighting, noise level were all fine for us, and the food and service were great, too. I will return if I get the chance. Steaks were great, and the beer selection was adequate. All reasonably priced for the district.
Our party had reservations and we were seated upon arrival with no wait. Service was good and the wait staff was attentive despite the restaurant being busy on a Saturday night. The food was good as usual with a good selection, but very limited vegan/veggie options. But vegans shouldn't expect much from a "Chop House." Everyone was pleased with their entree and portion size, except for one person who ordered the crab cakes. But again you cant expect a great crab cake at a Chop House outside of the Baltimore area. Overall, its a great traditional Chop House for the meat lovers. As well as excellent beer brewed in house.
Went there before a Wizards game and couldn't have picked a better spot. The waiter was very good and the service was outstanding. We ordered the calamari to start and it was ok at best. A little on the rubbery side but ok. When our main course arrived, we were very happy with our choices. NY strip and a filet were both cooked perfectly. Excellent crust on the outside and a perfect medium on the inside. the only complaint i could find about the place was the location of the restrooms. a short elevator ride to the basement and you have arrived at the lavatory. Overall, i would come back to this place anytime i am in town.
Food is always great and they always do a great job in being speedy as I am usually there before a sports event. Only small issuebisbtheblast few times I've been they have a problem getting the orders straight (forget to bring appetizer or sale before entree or side orders not right). They always correct it but interesting this has happened more than once.
We had a fabulous date night before the Wizard's game at District Chophouse at the upstairs bar & lounge. Their happy hour specials were the best we found in that area, and the on-tap beer selection was perfect! Their happy hour even includes a generous list of appetizers (we tried almost all of them and we were not disappointed!). When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a bubbly hostess, and were shown the seating options. We decided to sit at the upstairs bar (less crowded) for the happy hour specials. The bar staff were extremely attentive and fun to talk to. We met the GM, as he likes to say hello to guests, and he was also very friendly. All of the staff & food exceeded our expectations. We loved the decor and ambiance of the entire restaurant, plus it is a few steps from the Verizon Center. District Chophouse was a hidden gem- we will be back!
I was here two weeks prior and had a wonderful experience, and that's the reason I returned. This time, I had the same server, and she was great. However, we ordered a bottle of wine and wasn't told that they were out of it, until after our meals were served. Obviously, they don't know their inventory. Then, they decided to give us a free dessert to make up for the snafu, that's great,.. except the dessert they choose for us, was not one I would have liked. Additionally, our steaks were over seasoned, and, although both ordered medium-rare, one came medium and the other was closer to the rare side. Finally, the manager didn't even come over to apologize about the wine snafu, or even to see how things went. So, I'm probably not heading back there,.. the only high light was our server, who scrambled to get things right,.. maybe she should be the manager.
We had a reservation for 4:00pm. on Friday, Nov 3, 2017. The young lady that escorted us to our table seemed to have an attitude with us and so did our server AT FIRST; but he mellowed out as our time there continued. We loved the relaxed feel of the dinning booth – my husband and I were very comfortable and the music was nice and inviting, not too loud. As far as the menu; the seasoned spinach was very tasty as well as the Portobello mushroom topped with pickled onions, YUM! However, the T-bone steak tasted more like chicken than “cow” although this is no reflection on the cooks or the restaurant; it could be what the farmers chose to use as “feed” for the cows. Over all, we had a very memorable and enjoyable experience and will be back again!
Food, service, ambience were all outstanding. Everyone tried a different steak and each was prepared to order, tastefully seasoned and accompanied with a beautiful loaded large baked potato. I opted for green beans and tomatoes and was delighted with the choice. Craft beer made there was tasty. And the homemade cornbread was outstanding. BBQ shrimp appetizer set a great tone and everyone went home happy. We will be back!
Highly recommend! The entire restaurant team, from management to servers, went above and beyond to make my parents' 50th wedding anniversary extra special. Private seating, extra attention, delicious food and a surprise dessert with an anniversary card signed by the whole staff. Every detail cared for!
