District Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Pros: The service was outstanding as usual. This restaurant has a nice selection of wines at reasonable prices. The food was really good. I had the citrus salmon, which was absolutely delicious. Cons. We had to wait about 20 mins for our table, but it was reasonable because of the special event at the Capitol One Center (Andrea Bocelli). They were able to get us served and out without feeling rushed. One of our favorite restaurants.
Really like the Chop House - always good service - but was going to a dinner party the next night that was having prime rib so wanted to stay away from the heavy meats - have had good fist there but would not recommend the crab cake (sorry) I'm from So. MD and it just wasn't up to par.
We went for lunch. The menu was pretty good. The service was very good. The server was very attentive and nice. Beer selection was fine, the beer itself is par. Nothing great. Not terrible. Our meal was good. Nothing to rave about, but nothing to complain about. I've been here a bunch and this is my first review because it's just good. Nothing bad. Nothing great. Personally, I think there are better places at this price point and location.
I love this place, especially in small groups of 2-4. My only constructive feedback would be around larger groups. Twice now, I have noticed that they struggle to keep up and have just one person trying to manage a large party as well as other assigned tables. In my group of 10 for example, many had their steaks delivered and watched them cool on the plate because the steak knives had not been delivered. We had to summon another server who helped us. Perhaps having another server/busser assisting with larger groups might help.
Went with a group of 10 for an office lunch. The menu was varied enough so that there was something for everyone. The service was very efficient- we finished our meal and paid in just about one hour. They cheerfully provided 10 separate checks and handled the payments very quickly and easily.
The Chophouse is my favorite dinner destination prior to a Capitals home game. The menu offers what you would you expect from a chophouse and more.
I recommend the Buffalo Shrimp appetizer.
Request Rob as your waiter. He is very professional, fun and a great server.
How can you go wrong when you get a booth - that is all they basically have! Nice and quiet and excellent food. Of course it leans toward red meat there but there are salads and other options as well. I had a wonderful chat with my friend and enjoyed the meal.
Great environment. Restaurant is in an old bank building. Cozy setting.
Enjoyed steak and filet. All done to perfection. Reasonably priced but not inexpensive. Much better value that Capital Grill, Morton's, Flemings, etc.
Server was very attentive. Overall a great experience.
This restaurant has devolved into a "quick bite before the game" place on nights when the Capitals play. It has almost no ambiance, the service is spotty and the pricing reflects that it is a top destination at a great restaurant. It is not a destination for me at all and I was disappointed with the experience.
As always you will not go to District Chophouse and be disappointed. My sister and I took her to 2 daughters ages 12 and 7 and they enjoyed the food! Atmosphere as usual was great. Our server Jose who was training another server was spectacular and the trainee was very good (it was obvious he was being trained by Jose) I hope I'm always seated in Jose's section.
I don't remember my waiters name but he was the best . I told him me and wife was going to a show at 8 o'clock .I ask if i can order and make it in time. He said he would do his best and it was 6:55 .So he took me and my wife steaks and side order .And 8 pm we were i my seats at the Capitol one arena .I'm notsure what was the best the services or the food.
Special occasion for a group of six all from out of country or out of state, did not disappoint! We loved the food, the cocktails, and the desserts. Our server Curtis was fantastic, could not have asked for more top notch service from him. Wonderful evening, the restaurant was everything I had hoped for when I chose it and much more. Next time we dine in DC, it will be here.
We were seated on end of row next to busy traffic pattern by front steps; constant traffic and breezy near front door. Our server Jose was short on friendliness, until the very end when he smiled, delivering our check. We were low maintenance customers, in and out, but for our tab of $108, expected friendlier and more prompt service (especially getting initial waters and cornbread). The silver lining is that our filets, salads, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, cornbread, and wine were all outstanding!!!
Given the name of the restaurant I thought that they would know how to cook a steak. They did not. I ordered medium rare and it came closer to medium well. The waitress did not return to see how the steak was cooked but eventually I was able to flag her down. The replacement steak came still not medium rare but closer than before. I ate it since my wife was almost done with her crab cakes which she says were excellent. When the check came the waitress had accidentally charged me for 2 steaks. She corrected the problem but it was another issue for the night.
Overall experience was very good. One area that could be improved is checking in for your reservation. It is tight and a little chaotic. No one greeted you as you walked in. People are trying to check in and people are walking in and out of the restaurant. I had to go back and forth twice to check in because they wouldn't come to the bar to get me. I couldn't tell who were the staff and who were the customers. Waiter was pleasant but seemed distracted. Forgot a couple of things. Maybe too many tables for him. The waiter could have used more help with filling water glasses or clearing table. Food was very good and timely. My first experience at District Chophouse was very good and I would come back.
Had a business meal with colleagues from Finland, and they quite enjoyed it, as I did. Can be difficult to go out for meals with foreign travelers when the menu is unclear, noise level is too high for clear communication among diners or with servers, or when the service is poor. Atmosphere, lighting, noise level were all fine for us, and the food and service were great, too. I will return if I get the chance. Steaks were great, and the beer selection was adequate. All reasonably priced for the district.
Our party had reservations and we were seated upon arrival with no wait. Service was good and the wait staff was attentive despite the restaurant being busy on a Saturday night. The food was good as usual with a good selection, but very limited vegan/veggie options. But vegans shouldn't expect much from a "Chop House." Everyone was pleased with their entree and portion size, except for one person who ordered the crab cakes. But again you cant expect a great crab cake at a Chop House outside of the Baltimore area. Overall, its a great traditional Chop House for the meat lovers. As well as excellent beer brewed in house.
