Great choices for steaks and chops. The best selections are the prime rib and bone in ribeye. Also excellent selection of wines and cocktails.
Nice atmosphere, good service, over cooked my filet.
I have eaten here before, so coming back for a date night with my wife sounded like a sure thing. But, they missed the mark this time. Both of our steaks (Ribeye(s)) were way underdone, i.e.ordered medium and the steaks were served RARE, I men cool in the middle. The server took them back and my steak came back perfectly done my wife's, cooked to death, well done.
Histories tell's me this was the exception, not the rule, so we'll be back...
Always a great meal here! I usually always have the meatloaf but I tried the orange glazed salmon with asparagus and green beans and it was amazing. Cooked to perfection, healthy and tasty. Wish i had taken a picture!
Our server Victoria was professional, pleasant and on point the entire dinner service. The best part of Victoria's presence is that she treated her entire section in the same manner. The restaurant did an amazing job getting everyone in and out prior to the Pink concert at Capital One Arena. My bone-in filet was the perfect temperature and seasoned wonderfully.
Kudos to all involved.
Food was decent. Service was poor.
Made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately in a semi-private room in the front of the restaurant. This was a very pleasant surprise! It was perfect for our group since we haven't seen each other in awhile and could easily hear each other. The food was delicious with a few burgers ordered, a few steaks, crab cakes and tenderloin tips. Everyone was happy with their meals. The only drawback of the night was the waitress. She was pleasant but her accent made it a bit hard to understand her. Probably because she was a little soft spoken and it was loud in the restaurant. She took the drink order of 1 person at the table and when she returned, we asked if the rest of us could have a drink too. She was a little slow to come back when she went away each time. She wasn't a deal breaker but I had to take away a star on my rating. I would recommend District Chop House though.
Super great service. Always love to come here; definitely recommend. This is a DC Gem!
Took 10-15 minutes for our server to greet us and get water, food was delayed but everything was delicious. Ran out of an item and assumed a substitute without asking. Server was more interested in the hostess than checking on us. Manager came over to apologize (we think another employee alerted him) and took off a portion of our bill. Food was excellent and service was terrible. Will give it time before going back. Off nights happen but customer service can turn that around...unfortunately our server wasn't interested in providing that kind of service.
You know how they say you can't please everyone? Well the District Chophouse proves them wrong. We were a large business party of 18 and everyone loved their meal! The service was excellent and friendly. We will be back.
Went to District Chophouse for lunch with my parents, they were visiting from out of town. Had a cheese plate and beer to start. Personally I thought the beer could have been better, it tasted like their lines needed to be cleaned.
I ordered a medium rare NY strip and it was incredible. It was so juicy and moist, they really did it right. I ordered sweet potato fries as a side, and found myself wanting them to be a little more crispy. However, they were still great.
All in all I would definitely go back again, and would definitely recommend this to a friend.
The steaks were mediocre and way too expensive for what they were, and service was indifferent. We had to ask for the skillet cornbread that comes with the meal (we were told that the restaurant only serves it, "on request"). They got my order wrong. And in general, I thought the food was low quality. It used to be the District Chophouse was a good option for good steaks at a reasonable price, great for tourists and family in from out of town. But they've essentially priced themselves out of that market, in my opinion.
Food was very good, as was the service. A pleasant dining experience. The filet Diane was good, but just a bit too much pepper in the crust.
Had the Short Ribs!!! Delicious! My mom had the 12oz steak. The chef cooked it just right!!!
The corn bread was a great way to start off the meal... warm with the butter just melting ... yum.
It was masesoem
First of all my 9 year old daughter said “let’s go to that place we’re Robert was our waiter”. We were visiting DC and she remembers him from 1 1/2 years ago! We requested Robert and he did not disappoint our family. Great service, food was fantastic. I had the bone in filet! WOW! Delicious!!!
Thanks and we will be back
It’s a good place for casual dining. The menu has many options from prime rib to great salads.
It happened to be the night of a hockey game so a lot of fans were at the bar for the beginning of my dinner. Once they dwindled the ambiance completely changed to a higher class dining experience. The food and service were both impeccable and I would definitely return
Good lunch enjoyed by about 12 people with varying tastes ace diets.
Good steaks and classic wood booth style
We looked up restaurants that would be good for kids on our family trip to DC. When we first walked in I was a little nervous that it would be a little too fancy for the boys but it was great. There was a very nice kids menu, excellent food for the adults, and a great beer selection. Our server, TJ was very engaging, made great recommendations and made the kids feel extra special.
I would definitely go back. Good food. Generous portion sizes. Excellent service and great location. Fun place for brunch or birthday celebrations. Spacious booth.
Great food & great service, always a favorite after the Washington Bullets game.
The food overall was average. Petite fillet was dry and did not come prepared as ordered. Calamari was delicious. Did not try, but pesto tots were enjoyed by others at the table. Service was friendly but delivered wrong items twice. Five + minute wait for elevator back up to restaurant from dark, not so clean, basement bathroom.
Robert our waiter was greet and the food pretty good.
The waiter was very pleasant and very helpful, will go back
The onion soup was very, very good. The burger, not so much--overcooked and almost tough.
Good service but food came out so quickly - two course meal was done in 55 mins
I have been past Chophouse many times and always say I have to go there. I finally made it this past weekend. The food, atmosphere and service was top notch. I will be back soon!!
What a great find! We were wanting an excellent steak that wasn't ridiculously priced and in a restaurant without a dress code. This place was perfect. The food was excellent and was served when it was ready...we waited for nothing. The service was the best I've ever had, including at pricier restaurants. I can't say enough about it...the server was incredibly well trained and A+ at his craft.
The food was terrific. Appetizers, steaks, desserts, drinks... everything was top notch. Everything tasted great, but I was really impressed with the perfect temperature of EVERYTHING that was served. They are really on the ball here.
I’m a big fan of District Chophouse, always have been and it’s a go to spot for a post movie dinner with a friend of mine. Food was wonderful...both steaks perfectly cooked. I had the 9 oz filet/Gorgonzola. I would’ve liked it if the cheese compound had been melted a bit on my steak. It was still fairly solid when my plate hit the table. (Not a huge deal)
All of that said....our cocktails last night were a bit disappointing. I had 2 Bulleit Manhattans and my friend had 2 old fashioneds. I wasn’t asked if I wanted mine up or on the rocks (it arrived up...which is actually my preference, thankfully) and was served from the shaker (nice touch)....but the first one was relatively bland. The second tasted mostly of whisky and both were devoid of cherries.
My friend’s first old fashioned was mostly ice and the second one (after she asked for less ice) was poorly made and (by her definition) tasted terrible.
I only bring this up as, in the past, the cocktails are typically spot on...so having both rounds be subpar cake as a surprise.
Our server, a woman....front section up against the window....was super friendly and personable. She was fun enough that our reluctance to make her run twice to fix the drinks was what kept up from sending them back. As I said...they weren’t undrinkable...just not at all up to Chophouse’s normal standards.
The filet mignon with the port rosemary demi glaze was phenomenal paired with the white cheddar mashed potatoes. However, the $50 bone in steak with the cajun shrimp (new menu item) was NOT worth the money spent. It was definitely a good steak with flavor, but we ordered medium and it was barely pink, dry, and all (if any) of the flavor just came from the cajun shrimp. Like I said, it was a good steak, but not impressed with the price paid.
The ambiance was very comfortable, our waitress was wonderful, attentative, helpful, and recommended the rosemary demi glaze. We look forward to coming back when we're in the area again, but we'll stick to less expensive food options.
The pesto tater tots were AMAZING!! Highly recommend!!
We have great meals whenever we come here, and Friday night was no exception. We arrived early for our reservation but were seated right away. Since this is a chophouse and brewery, that's what you have to like to like it here, and we do because they do meat and beer very well indeed. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable but not pushy. The Velvet Amber Ale on special was a hit. The 7 oz. filet was perfectly done (medium rare, exactly as ordered), as was the sirloin in the steak sandwich. Witty old-school ambiance with plenty of booths to cozy up in, a billiards parlor upstairs, period photos on the walls featuring bygone Washingtonians having fun with booze, and even having to take an elevator down to speakeasy level to patronize the bathroom. Easy-going, accessible, friendly, fun, and competent. Out of towners should come in to see how the real people of DC - the cooks, waiters, bartenders, hostesses and clean up crews - do things right.
Never a bad meal
Always consistent service and food. This is one of my go-to lunch spots.
We had seven people for lunch. All were happy with their food. We were given a quiet spot that was like a private dinning room which made conversation very easy. The waiter was very attentive and the cornbread before we ordered was a nice touch.
I had the beef tips and they were wonderful I also added bernaise sauce and it was the best. My son spilled his beer and 3 people were there to clean it up in an instance, very impressive.
Good food and service but very pricey - we ordered fruit medley cobbler, and it only had apples, misadvertised. Average entree $40.
family in town
Great service and excellent food. Our reservation was fulfilled on the dot, even on a very busy evening. Well Done!!!
