District Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
This is a casual, friendly restaurant with excellent meat. I have had season tickets to the Shakespeare Theatre for many years and always eat here before the show, although there are many other good restaurants in the area. The service is very good, even for solo diners, and they give you a skillet of excellent cornbread. It's also relatively quiet.
I wanted to love the chophouse because the decor and ambience are really lovely , our waitress also attentive and friendly
Unfortunately except for the warm cornbread which was very good , the food , while generous in portions was really not good. We paid extra for the smaller “better” steak but it was tough and not very good. We also shared a burger which seemed to consist of a mystery meat , not even sure what was in it . We are not complainers and generally do not send back food so we didn’t but won’t be back and can not recommend this restaurant
Steaks were amazing, as was the service. It was weird it wasn’t busier on a Friday night. I would not call the prime rib au jus quite that...I’m pretty sure they got my order confused with the prime ribeye (either that or they don’t know what prime rib is) but it was so good I didn’t call them on it.
District Chophouse is our go to before all Home Caps games, we like that it’s easy to get in and out in an hour, the service is good, and it’s convenient to Capital One Arena. The food has always been consistently good. Before the last game, service was unusually slow, to the extent that a manager came out to apologize, and offered dessert on the house. We were already late, so we couldn’t take him up on it, but it was a nice gesture. Tonight, the food was slow again, and my burger was closer to medium rare that medium well, and it was cold. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years, so I’m in hopes they’re having an off week. If not, we’ll have to find a different pre-game dinner choice.
This is my favorite restaurant for lunch in DC. I wrote a review for my lunch on January 3, 2018 and gave it 2 stars because much went wrong on that occasion. The food and service were sub par. So I was anxious to visit again to test my theory that the previous visit was an aberration. And I am happy to report that it was just that. Shortly after I was seated at the table a man walked by who looked like he could be a manager. He responded that he was the manager and I think his name was Bill. He was not the manager on January 3 so I told him what happened. Pronto, without asking he said that the meal was on the house. (unfortunately the manager last week did not respond in the same way). I had a steak salad which was delicious. The sirloin was done perfectly! The house dressing was great and it did not soak the ingredients of the salad. The service was fine too. Bravo!
We had the private dining room that was requested. The ambience was good there. Outside it will be a bit nosy.
The waitress was quite unhappy in having to take changes in our orders and for us requesting separate bills.
The pot house steak was chewy. But he prime rib was good, and the rib eye bone-in was OK.
The corn bread was delicious.
Loved our visit to the Chophouse. Being an out-of-towner, I researched for the best price for a steak for my wife and I's 11 year anniversary. I loved the atmosphere of the place. Our server, whos name I did not catch, was wonderful, attentive, and explained to me anything I asked him. The steak was cooked just how it was requested and didn't require steak sauce (which is a great compliment from my wife). The cornbread was delicious as well. I'll definitely stop by next time I make my way to D.C.
First I need to say that this restaurant is my favorite in DC for lunch. That said, I must be honest in rating the lunch I had last week. I ordered a turkey burger. It was served in a reasonable amount of time. I had this before and what I tasted did not seem to be a turkey burger. After a few bites it got no better and was also very spicy. My server was not around so I told another server that I could not eat it. He took it from me and within minutes the manager of the restaurant came over to apologize. Apparently they got the order wrong and served me a tuna burger. So I had to wait for the turkey burger and had to drink lots of water because I had a very bad taste in my mouth was on fire. Finally the turkey burger was served. The sweet potato fries were wonderful but the turkey burger was not. Since I already waited long enough I did not send it back to be cooked more thoroughly. It bears noting that not once did my server apologize for the service. She is lucky that I am retired and that I was not in a hurry because I would not have left my usual generous tip. I must say I was very surprised when I got the bill that there was no reduction in the amount for the hassle or that the meal was not comped entirely. Because I have been to this restaurant dozens of times and have always had a great meal with quality service I will consider this experience to be an aberration. I hope that the manager reads this and realizes that he did not handle the situation very well.
My boyfriend and I came here NYE. Our service was good however I ordered a medium well steak and was given a medium instead. My boyfriend ordered a medium rare steak and was given a rare. I had to return mine and the new plate was still not quite medium well. Otherwise it was not bad. Crab bisque was delicious and our waitress was great.
We went for the first time Saturday and it was amazing. For starters we had the New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp for dinner I had the Angus Top Sirloin topped with the Oscar (Béarnaise, jumbo lump crab and asparagus) the only thing I would recommend is that the crab be warm. It was cold. My fiancé had the Slow Roasted Prime Rib (10 ounce) with the Oscar. Everything was GREAT
This restaurant was suggested by a friend, he didn't tell us that they specified in steak. The joke is I don't eat BEEF! The waiter who was assigned our table rarely waited on my table. He wasn't that friendly unless you were looking at the table with people who looked like they had money. I tip at least 20% for good service, he just did not deserve it. I had to send my food back because it was cold and once because it was missing a side. Chop House....NO THANK YOU!
We had Christmas Eve dinner here on a recommendation from a friend. This place did not disappoint. The ambiance was great... Nice but not stuffy. Beautifully decorated. The food was outstanding. We should have skipped the appetizers to save room for our meals. I had the spinach and artichoke dip. Definitely large enough to share for 2-3 people. It was generous in size and really good. Hubby loved the crab bisque soup. The best cornbread that I have ever had. Delicious. This is served with each meal. My son and I had the Prime Rib and my husband had the bone in ribeye. Both were excellent and a great value for the price. One of the better prime rib dishes that I have ever had. I would highly recommend this place. Service was also outstanding.
