We were entertaining an out of town small group looking for casual and local flavor near the Galt House (where they were staying). Solid locals menu, vegetarian options, craft beers beyond the normal boring Sam Adams and Bourbon Barrel Ale and a killer Bourbon list. We ate in the room adjacent to the bar and it was quiet enough for a meaningful business dinner without having to go to a stuffy or overpriced restaurant - it was a Tuesday so I don't know how loud it would have been on another night. Definitely makes the short list of places to go back to for work or personal night out.
The hot brown was good but I have had a lot better. The steak was good and while not the best it was better than average. The Dish puppies had a frozen taste to them not sure if they had been made fresh but they still tasted okay. The pulled pork nachos were very good and a highlight for sure. The atmosphere was modern and nice better than it looked on the outside. The service was nice and accommodating but not very attentive and forgot my fiance's drink she had ordered. The food was good for the price for sure and we had a nice time might go back if I'm in the area.
It was just okay. Sat at the bar and the bartender was serving the bar and booths. She needed some help. Measured pours are tiny, just saying.
I had the ruben and it was tough and skimpy. Had it before and it was good. Maybe used scraps, because that's how it looked.
After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about the Sunday buffet. People said it was a tiny buffet. I don't understand what they want. It had scrambled eggs or prepared omelet, potatoes, grits, hot brown, sausage, bacon, meat balls, chili, fruit, cheese and biscuits with gravy.
How much more variety do people need? And, it was only $12.95!
Went there with a group of friends for Sunday Brunch. 3 of us got the buffet, and 1 got the Chicken and Waffles. The omelet station made the meal. The gentleman cooking the omelets had all of his first place ribbons from the Kentucky State Fair behind him, and his omelets did not disappoint. Everyone left very happy with our bellies satisfied.
We had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday to make an 8pm curtain at the Center for the Arts. My friend had a glass of wine with her chicken quesadillas and enjoyed every bite. I had a Kentucky Mule alongside the black and blue salad, which was heavy on the onions but otherwise delicious. Service was quick and friendly, and we had plenty of time to get to the theater. A very pleasant evening.
I took some business friends to dinner there while we were all in town at a conference. None of us live there. I looked at the menu online and it looked fine for two of my vegetarian friends. But, when we got to the restaurant some of those items were not on the menu which severely limited their menu choices. The restaurant website should be kept up to date on such things.
Had difficulty finding the restaurant because we were from out of state. We made several calls while on the road to add time to our reservation. Staff was friendly and helpful while they held the reservation through our phone calls. We were then pressed for time when we arrived. They accommodated us and served us quickly and well. The drinks and food were great. This experience was one of the best during our trip. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We celebrated after our wedding and they had a private are set up for us and had set up the cake and lighting. It was beautiful! Our server was absolutely amazing. I recommend this for a quick breakfast or lunch, a date night or a special occasion. Super accommodating and friendly.
My husband had some of the best fried chicken ever! My salmon was delicious as well. I really wanted the shrimp and grits but they were out of shrimp. We also tried to order the Reuben egg rolls and they were out of them as well. It was a Sunday evening so they are forgiven.
Visiting Louisville for a long weekend and found Dish on Market right around the corner from our hotel. There were few other options that were open within close walking distance so we decided to give it a try. We walked in around 10:30am and were greeted by a hostess with an attitude. Despite the open tables on the main floor, we were told that anyone without a reservation would have about an hour wait. I was able to log on to Open Table and immediately get a reservation for 10:45am, a trick the hostess was not thrilled with. We were sat almost immediately and waited about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. There was a buffet option but we decided to order off of the menu instead, BIG MISTAKE. We ordered waffles, toast, and eggs which are all very easy to make and generally really quick. Regardless, It took about an hour for our food to come and when it arrived it looked as if it had just been slapped onto the plate and was barely warm. The food we ordered was nothing special and we probably would have been better off selecting the buffet (or another restaurant).
I am from the North East so I acknowledge that things move slower in the south but even after taking that into consideration, Dish on Market was not nearly busy enough for the service to be as slow as it was. The waitress was very apologetic and seemed a little overwhelmed so I'm hoping that this experience is not a reflection of how things generally run. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars.
If we're ever in town again I might give it a second chance but would probably look a little further into other options first.
A group of of went before the Bruno Mars concert. We did make reservations and were sat immediately.
Would have rated the food as outstanding but there was some type of vegetable pancake on my burger that was under cooked and awful. If you like that sort of thing, you would probably like that. I did see it on the menu listing but it was not what I had envisioned. Probably my mistake anyways.
Otherwise, I had zero complaints.
Wait staff was super accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu, beer, and bourbon list.
