The food is so fresh and plated well. Make sure you have room for dessert because you would not want to miss out.
We had a wonderful time, and cannot wait to go again next summer!
Great variety on the menu and everything was fantastic!
Great food, service and atmosphere. A must for foodies.
Awesome place with servers who care your your needs and food thats delivered fast.
We rode down from Anchorage to try this place. We had the Summer Rock Salad with braised chicken and the Kettle Bottom Steak. Both were excellent and the service was fantastic. We will certainly be making the trip again soon.
Dirty Skillet raises the bar for good food in Hope, AK, and may even be worth the detour for any trip on the Kenai Peninsula! Our favorites are Grandpa’s Roast Veggie Red Lentil Soup that is loaded with veggies and enjoyed by even the folks that feel like a meal needs to include some form of meat, the Miner's Pie for a hearty meal and the Banh Mi Burger that is flavorful and accompanied by a mountain of rosemary seasoned shoe-string fries that are amazing. We have had the Key Lime Pie and several flavors of their homemade ice cream, would order any of those or the night's flavors again! Look forward to returning.
Great food at a great place... is there anything better than dining out in Alaska - God’s country? Was surprised by the excellent comfort food menu and even a good selection on tap!! Definitely will return!!
Friendly and attentive staff. Timely service. Food was great and my steak was cooked perfectly. Live music made it a wonderful evening. We will be back.
A very fun atmosphere and great food choices- Nice wine & local beer selections & save room for homemade pie & homemade ice cream!
Thank you so much for the review!!! We hope to have you back soon (we'll save you some pie and ice cream).
We tried the burgers on a return visit to experience what others are raving about. Pretzel bun was very firm and chewy and the burger looks like a processed frozen patty. The cooked burger was sort of gray in color and any juiciness was from the unusual toppings and not from the meat. It was difficult to bite into because the bun was too thick to get into your mouth and the toppings squished out. The burgers must appeal to many diners according to the reviews, but not to us. The owners told us that they are expanding the kitchen in order to offer an expanded menu next season. We are excited to return next year and try something new.
Fantastic! Staff was friendly, food was a delight. We will return again and again!
Thank you so much for your review! Cheers!
Before our visit we heard the lodge and restaurant were under new management and didn't know what to expect because the former ownership had outstanding food. The grounds around the lodge are beautiful and tranquil. The dining area was renovated with a larger bar and a covered outdoor dining patio. It retained its rustic mining-town ambiance and is very casual. The wine list is also rustic: white, pink, red written on a small chalkboard. You will get a flower in your wine served in a stemless wine glass. A few wines by the bottle are also available. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly. The short menu is interesting, but the only fish listed was the crab cakes which they were out of and a scallop appetizer. The quinoa stuffed portobello mushroom was delicious but I wouldn't order it again. The bone in ribeye was huge but not very good. It was grayish in color and over cooked for medium, chewy and without flavor that ribeye is known for. It didn't appear to be grilled or broiled, barely pan seared. Shoestring fries are very good though. Food is not as good as I hoped and expensive, but Alaska is expensive. It is open daily except for Monday which is great for Hope. Restaurants tend to have irregular hours in this little town. The owner is dedicated to their new venture and we wish them well. As a regular visitor to Alaska, and to Hope, I would dine there again.
Thanks for visiting our neck of the woods. As we talked about in person, come 2020, our kitchen will almost triple in size, and hopefully we can have more seafood options (we are only 8 weeks old to-date!). I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't like our steak! We definitely grill and broil each steak carefully, and we've never had anything but rave reviews. I believe you ordered yours "medium, closer to medium-well." That would certainly contribute to the lack of ribeye flavor. Happy travels!
The place is pretty small but very nicely set up. The staff is very friendly and the food was excellent.
THANK YOU so much for your review. Cheers!
I’ve already told all my friends about this special place. Great food. Great owners. Family friendly. The food was amazing, the portions were perfect, the experience was unforgettable. I can’t wait to go back and bring my loved ones with me!!!
Thank you so much for this beautiful review! It made our day to read about your experience. Cheers, and see you soon!
Rice balls with the creole sauce was amazing! Wine was delicious - 1 new age white, and 1 US chardonnay! And the burger was great - with fries that were so good we took a bunch home, still enjoying them! The mushroom and quinoa was too much quinoa, so I didn't like as well as the burger of Mike's I was snitching from. And the pies were amazing - tried the chocolate cream, and the BEST was the key lime!
We loved the cozy ambiance, and service by Shaun, also helped by Nisha who of course we loved seeing. This is a very welcoming place - for sure we'll be back!
Thank you for the review, Barb.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, excellent service and huge servings! This place is under new ownership and the owners have done a ton of renovations and upgrades.

SUCH a fun time! We liked lunch so much that we came back for dinner, which was even better! Delicious food in a beautiful setting, and the family staff was so above and beyond. Will definitely be making a stop here every time we are nearby. Also loved the live music!
We stoked to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit! We can't wait to have you out again soon (for weekend brunch next time?). Cheers!
We were greeted by Angie. She is awesome.. so is her sister, the new owner! AMAZING bone-in steak and to-die-for strawberry-rhubarb pie! =) There was live music the night we were there. It was perfect. =) I hesitate leaving reviews for these little gems.. seems they get too popular, then we can never get in! haha
Super glad you had a great time here at Dirty Skillet! Looking forward to your next visit out to Hope, Alaska. Cheers!
Perfect in every way for casual but excellent food. Local owners and patrons welcome all.
Thank you so much for coming out to Dirty Skillet! We can't wait to have you out here again soon. Cheers!
The hospitality was great as we enjoyed a friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. For breakfast we had the best scone I have ever eaten. ( I give that scone a 10) along with a banana for breakfast It could not be beat. I am eager to go back and get another. Rustic Alaskan experience.
So glad you had a great time here at Dirty Skillet! We can't wait to have you back out. Maybe next time for lunch and dinner! Cheers.
