Service was great, food was very good, and the drinks were superb. Definitely will come back!
I went for Restaurant Week and it was a major steal because the food was excellent and the service was decent as well.
The hostess, the outdoor table, the drinks and the food were all really top-notch. Our server seemed like he would rather be anywhere else than our table - we had to flag him down each time we needed something (which was every 10 minutes or so). In spite of the hands-off approach we received from our server - we had an excellent time here and really enjoyed the cheese platter, and the grilled caesar salads. Also the cocktail list was quite extensive and impressive and the HH wines tasted like much higher quality than other HH wines in the area. I would definitely go back.
Everything was great. Food was great, server was professionals and courteous, and drinks were great. BTW ambiance was great too.
We go to Adega restaurant in downtown Silver Spring a lot, great food for great prices. We were told that Dirty Martini was ran by the same person. , so we went there for our 5th wedding anniversary. When we got there we should have just left as the seats were very stained and uncomfortable. The food was ok but in no way worth the $145.00 bill we received at the end of the meal.
I had a good time there, the food was great, service was good. Little overpriced but I had groupon, so it turned out to be not as expensive.
It was a very great experience, my friends and I had a blast! Great food, drinks, and music.
Our food was cold and uninspired. This was to celebrate a birthday and they didn't do so much as to say happy birthday and we weren't offered a dessert menu. It was disappointing to say the least.
This is a great restaurant/bar with excellent service but lacks the energy. It was too quite - may be because its Tuesday night! But music could have put me to sleep - nothing bar-like about it. Food was very tasty. We ordered lamb meatballs for appetizers, only 3 in an order, but delicious. The eggplant fries were something I never tried before and they were great and I guess healthier than the potato fries.
I was excited after reading the menu online and decided to go during Restaurant Week.
At arriving I was greeted nicely, by the host and a patio/windowside server who both had good energy. We ended up getting a server who wasn't good at all, especially considering the restaurant was maybe 1/5 full. Too many on staff and none were engaging. The food descriptions were not as they arrived on the plate. The steak was good, but very small for a list price of $32 with badly cooked, cooled and over-oiled veg. The chicken was tiny portioned. The cheesy grits were gross and cold. One desert was good but poor presentation-to-eat, the other, boring.
I could have done better with buying the ingredients for $11 and cook both meals myself.
Gathered some friends together for my birthday celebration and was not disappointed. The food was enjoyable, the atmostshpere lively and vibrant, but the service was really the 'icing on the cake'. We were treated as are their favorite customers even though it was our first time at this restaurant. Best of all we were treated to a bottle of champagne; will definely go again. Chao'
I've only been to this restaurant twice, but both times I was impressed by the service and the food. I would definitely go back!
Good drinks. Up beat atmosphere late in the night. Sometimes tough to get a drink at the bar unless you push to the front and rudely hail a bartender. There are never quiet, nod of the head, drink orders, its a process. But most places in dc are like that so its normal.
It was our second time going to Dirty Martini and both times were great. We were able to indulge in wonderful cuisine as well as drinks! I would definitely recommend the Dirty Martini for couples that would like a romantic evening out.
While I have had some BAD food experiences this does not fall into this category. The food was just ok. Presentation of the food was beautiful!!
My MAJOR COMPLAINT was, I had a BAD "Dirty Martini"! Now if the name of your establishment is Dirty Martini please make sure ALL of your bartenders know how to make a GREAT Dirty Martini. This was very disappointing.
Great vibe that flows between social/bar type atmosphere and romantic/quiet atmosphere. It's all together, and yet it works. Food was great, service was outstanding. Good time.
Ambience fantastic, food great, wait staff--wonderful!!! Will definitely go again!!
I woundn't recommend this place to anybody. Really disappointing. The seats were dirty, the food was tasteless.
Bar area was fun. Great layout and fun place. Food was average. Drinks were pricey and the service was poor. Maybe just wasn't my cup of tea.
PreSource dinner for 2. We sat inside, outside seemed fairly busy. Everything was just marginal. Not bad.. but not good either. Jambalaya had only one extra jumbo shrimp, unshelled, and fairly tough. Closing out was fairly slow as I think the staff was mainly giving attention to the outside group even though the inside clientele grew as we were there. At one point both of us looked at each other and complained about the noise. For a half empty restaurant, it was impressive.
Unlike other places, this place doesn't fill up like crazy, which I love, because its quiet and relaxing. I hate crowded places and noise. They have good service and a great ambiance.
I was at Dirty Martini with a few friends for Cinco de Mayo and the place was hopping! The atmosphere was energetic, and alot of fun! We had small bites (and a few margaritas!).....the fish tacos were outstanding. The fish was fresh, lightly breaded and lightly fried.....you could taste the fish and the additions to the tacos were modest to let the taste of the fish really shine!
This is the second time I've been to Dirty Martini, and it's rapidly becoming one of my favorite places!
Small plate gem. We ordered 6 items and loved each one. The food service was incredible. Wait staff perfect.
Sat in bar area at a booth but was told could only get happy hour specials if we sat at the bar or one of the long high tops but both were full. Server took our appetizer order then disappeared. Other servers constantly checked on us but we had been there at least
35 mins before someone asked for our dinner order. Took our appetizer (6 drumettes) 20 mins to come out and were brought by another server ...still no sign of our original server. Did I mention the place was practically empty other than the bar area. Another server asked to take our order but we informed him we were ready for the check. He brought the check but our original server brought it back -_- ...we left and will probably never return!!!
This place doesn't disappoint! I've been here many times and the food is on par (I've had the burgers, salmon and meatball appetizers and more). The service has been great and the venue is clean and modern. LOVE IT!
Very hip, fun and great all around
We went on a Monday night and the place was fairly empty. Even so, the service was slow and the food just mediocre. I am sure that this place is much better as a night club than a restaurant. I most likely will not go again.
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It was nice looking and the staff was pleasant. I ordered a dirty martini expecting it to be incredible - it was not. I was worried since this was their namesake.
The plates were artfully displayed with very little food on them. My husband ordered the crab cakes - they were three silver dollar size cakes. I ordered a blue burger med rare and it came so well done, I ate less than half. The maitre'd came by and offered to bring another but it had taken an hour and a quarter (on a slow Monday evening) to get the salad and dinner and we did not have the time to wait. He offered a free dessert but we passed since we were going to be late for our appointment. Hard to justify trying this restaurant again.
My fiancee and I had an awesome date night dinner at Dirty Martini. Our server, Antonio, was AWESOME. The food and drinks were good and the ambience was almost perfect! We were seated in a very comfy, gorgeous curved booth. The lighting was dim and romantic, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's a little pricey but the portions are reasonable. We had a great time and will definitely be back again!
Our two appetizers, which were fabulous (bruschetta and garlic shrimp) made up for our disappointment in the catch of the day, sea bass, which was somewhat overwhelmed by a tomato sauce. I wish I had ordered the grilled salmon!
We had an early dinner, and it was easy to talk. As the restaurant, and bar especially, filled up, the noise level got higher; still possible to have a conversation, but I ease of conversation depends very much on how many people are there.
Very good grilled grapefruit salad. And attentive, personal service.
I was 2 hours late to my reservation but I was seated as soon as I walked in. The food was amazing, the service was quick and the prices were affordable for the quality of the food I was getting. I would defiantly recommend coming here if you're in the area!
Had a fantastic late dinner with friends. This inviting location offered friendly service and a diverse menu. We tried the Dirty Martinis and we're not disappointed. I'll be back!
We were a group of 8 with a reservation and a willingness to drink wine. The service was well-meant, but slow & amateurish. We had to ask for water refills every time. They tried to super upsell us twice when they were out of the chosen wines from their list. When we bought the better wine of the same vineyard, they mixed the 2nd bottle (the lesser one) into the first when pouring into our glasses because they misjudged the pour all the way around. No one finished their food except for one salad and the 2 orders of eggplant fries which were delicious. A place that prides itself on the bar scene should have better wine manners. It should not take 3 hours to get an appetizer & a main course for 8 people. And it should taste good.
Nice surprise inside and food was good! Modern interior!
We were going to see a friend perform at the comedy club across the street. We stopped in for dinner and the place exceeded expectation. They even let us keep our car at the valet until after our show.
The waitstaff was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Read the menu then ask for their recommendations on all food and beverages. The Hot & Passion Martini was delicious. Very complex cocktail in terms of flavor. Be ready for a spicy punch after you take your first sip.
Double dated on a Friday night here and sat in a booth. Lively, yet relaxing atmosphere. Big, open bar area with high ceilings and several flat screen tvs. Although there was a big party next to us it was remarkably quiet in the big rounded booth where we sat. All of the appetizers we had were delicious - lamb balls, ahi tuna, tuna ceviche, portobello mushrooms with goat cheese, lobster bisque. And, the drinks were very good - not weak! We'll definitely go back.
Overall, it was ok but we're probably not going back. They had a special NYE set menu which was not advertised on their website at all. The choices were decent but the waiter failed to ask if we have any food allergies - luckily we spotted the pistachios in the cheesecake before eating. Service was poor for a restaurant that is trying to appear nice. No soup spoon brought out with the soup... no water refills between courses.... again, not even asking about food allergies?? I think the managers tried their best, seeing as they did stop by a couple of times and ask how things were. Food was ok but not great - the fish was very dry, nothing special. Surf & turf was better. The mixed drinks were fun but a little too sweet.
The location and the environment is what defines this place. The food was just ok with just enough as a portion size. I would go againwhen out socially in the area but would not go out of my way to eat there.
