The food came very very late, although the restaurant made up for it by comping one meal. My salad was virtually inedible (kale with chicken, the latter a dry and tasteless afterthought at best). The chef may have changed as previously I had good meals there. They need to revisit the food and service at lunchtime.
Love Dirty Habit for lunch and HH, but was not so thrilled on a busy Wednesday night. VERY noisy, lackluster service (wine did not arrive before the food), very small but expensive portions. Food is lovely, but overpriced and skimpy. I will continue to patronize enthusiastically for lunch and HH, but would hesitate to come back for dinner or to recommend for dinner.
Extraordinary service from our waiter
My husband and I went for breakfast. I ordered the pancakes and the waiter tried to explain what they were but was not able to explain it but I got the impression he thought regular pancakes were better so I got the regular pancakes. For $14 I got 3 very small pancakes with a few berries and one of the pancakes was burnt black. I sent it back and they gave me one little pancake back. I ordered a side of bacon that was greasy. My husband said his omelette was ok.
On a frigid December day, Dirty Habits was the perfect pre theater before our Shakespeare Play. Mushroom soup warmed you to your toes. The exceptional preparation, attention to service, and ambiance made for a perfect brunch. There were no fewer than 4 people watching the food to make sure it was correct and served immediately upon being placed on deck. The open kitchen is stressful for the team, but careful attention was given to every plate as if it was going to be served to a family member. Dirty Habits will become part of our routine!
The waitstaff and management are excellent, with a perfect attentive balance. The atmosphere is good. We went for brunch and the food was disappointing. Perhaps, the kitchen staff was out of sync that day because there are a number of great reviews. This day, they struggled with the egg dishes. One omelet had very overcooked eggs, another egg dish had watery eggs, and the pulled pork hash was missing the sweet potatoes (so not a hash) and had scrambled egg whites instead of a poached egg. But again, the front staff are great.
What an amazing place. Great food and service. The staff is so friendly. Best place in DC.
Love Dirty Habit! And the twin hostesses! This is definitely my go-to spot for brunch! My boyfriend and I bring our friends here all the time!
Food and service mediocre, noise level astronomical. No fun.
Met my son and his
Fiancée here for
Brunch. Great crowd, great server, great food. Would definitely come back the next time we are in town
First time at Dirty Habit since its reincarnation and was most delighted with the new space. Ambiance is cool industrial. BF & I enjoyed a wonderful brunch. Terrific Bloodys made to our spice level by our very accommodating server. Based on the glowing recommendation of the lovely young couple seated next to us, tried the DH's version of hash, new to the menu that day. The mix of BBQ pork, sweet potatoes & cheese with a fried egg & scallion on top served nicely heated in a single skillet serving was excellent. Waffles and chicken were superb. Compliments to the chef!!
Someone talk to the decorator! The large blue club chairs are IMMOVABLE without a husky waiter. You have to sit, then have him shove you forward so you can reach the table. Really? Comfy once you are in them, but really, worse than being stuck in a bench. Too low for smaller folks, and way too huge for the space. Like, REPLACE THEM. They stand in the way of an otherwise five star review.
Eh. Very average. Decent enough.
Everything was good, but not mind blowing. Our apps (calamari and croquettes) were delicious, but lukewarm. Steak was first way too raw (ordered med rare but came pretty blue) so I sent it back and it came very over charred so the bitter taste was a little overpowering. The corn purée with the branzino was super good!! We got the trio creme brûlée for dessert and were offered sparkling rose on the house. My drink was taken away and I wasn’t offered another and waters took way too long to refill. I really really wanted to love it here because it was a surprise date night, but was slightly disappointed at almost every point. I hope dirty habit improves so I can give it another chance!
My server was great. She was very attentive to the group needs.
Food was pretty good but not amazing. Service was friendly but they visited the table a bit too sporadically. Overall good but not a place I'd crave.
Great experience all around, highly recommend!!!
Overpriced for a very average breakfast. Other better options in the neighborhood.
Service is slow. Had to flag someone down to take our order in a relatively empty dining room.
I had a ticket to see Michelle Obama and this dining experience was a wonderful prelude to a glorious night!
Great food and a wide selection of drinks. We love the steak, charcuterie and calamari. The truffle fries were to die for.
Went for brunch this past Sunday. While the menu was nice, the atmosphere was eclectic, and the food was delicious, the service was subpar. I believe they only had one girl on staff and whether she was overwhelmed or not was up for debate. She certainly did not pay attention to our table. And when you're paying for bottomless drinks, service is a must. She was sweet enough, but just seemed uninterested in taking care of us. Even the manager, who walked around and was putting an effort to seem engaged, ignored our empty drinks. I'd recommend they hire more staff and give some more training.
Brunch on Sunday ~ Our food was very good.
Mimosas were well done.
Our waitress with her long sleeved ruffled blouse dragged it though our food and beverages every time she did anything at the table. It was unappetizing to say the least.
Kudos to Dirty Habit for processing our OPEN TABLE reward card.
“Twin” hostesses were adorable!
Hotel Monaco VALET staff were AWESOME!
Probably will not return given attire on serving staff.
way cooler than we expected, the drinks are amazing!
Very unimpressive evening. One of the cocktails was not drinkable and others were not the same volume. Food is limited and not good at all except for the one fish entree.
No music at all or way too low. Cold drafts also at tables.
Our server, Daryl, was amazing. Food, drinks, ambiance was incredible. A great way to end my work day with a colleague! Thanks!
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff is incredible. What a great experience every time I go.
The manager went out of his way to get us seated and served in a tight 35-minute window (we were late to the theatre). He pushed the kitchen and our drinks came out asap! Incredible job. The room is bit dark and noisy, but the food made up for it. Kudos!
Had a great time. Our server was friendly. Food was fantastic.
Food wasn’t very good and the prices were high for what it was.
Dirty Habit lost their mojo! We excitedly returned after a brief hiatus. Very disappointed. Our reservations earned us a...bar table...!?! Not. Drinks were WAYYYY overpriced, which we knew, but the ambiance was worth it, at least it was long ago. Food was bland and cold. Sent it back. Not returning. Sad to see another potentially nice spot turn into a touristy spot.
The service started with one of the severs coming to our table and asking, “so you want to order sow food?” She took out entire order, drinks, appetizers, and entries. We weren’t prepared so sho just stood there, we actually had to tell her to give us a few minutes. I requested a rare steak that when was brought to my table was way over done. Another sever came by and asked if the steak was ok, I told him that it was medium. He then asked
If if needed to be cooked more. I then told him that I wanted it rare. He said the chef would be by to bring me the steak. Well, the chef didn’t bring it, another server (3rd one of the night). The steak was a rib eye and VERY fatty. $34 for a 12oz rib eye and French fries. The place is more of a hotel bar that serves food, rather than a true restaurant. My fiancé’s drink was mostly ice and $14....for a very small glass of raspberry and gin!
We frequent the area for theater and have been to most of the restaurants in and near Penn Quarter. We made it to Poste one time when it was located in the Hotel Monaco and this will be our only visit to Dirty Habit for the same reason. It is very noisy. Even though the staff frequently asks how things are, water glasses stay empty for multiple trips to the table. Food was OK, but not much of a value considering they had the opportunity to provide great service.
Small portions but overall great food
Maria is awesome! I am already looking forward to returning for another meal and drinks!
I love the vibe and food was great! It was my first time and I busted my first team meeting there. They accommodated an extra guest without problems.
I was served raw chicken! They did comp the bill but this was a bit of a rookie mistake...
Extremely disappointing service.
Our entrees arrived before our salad. When we asked about the salad our server put the entrees down on our table and said she’d take care of it as she turned away and walked off. We were not asked if we still wanted salad - so it showed up when we were halfway through our entrees.
We were handed dessert menus and then 30’seconds later given a bill by the same person - who did not ask if we wanted to order dessert or coffee.
We were there to celebrate our anniversary - we first met in the courtyard bar. So we have an affinity for the place - but we were extremely disappointed in Dirty Habit.
We enjoyed our evening despite the service (and the “safe” tourist friendly menu options) but will be limiting return visits (if any) to the outdoor bar only.
The food and service were excellent. I was greeted upon arrival and seated immediately. My server was prompt, friendly and attentive. The food arrive timely and tasted great. Highly recommend.
