My husband and I drove down to DC for the weekend and stayed at the Kimpton hotel attached to the Dirty Habit. Having stayed at many Kimpton Hotels and knowing that the restaurants attached are usually very good and after reading the menu and some reviews on Open Table, I decided to make a reservation. My mistake. First, we were seated not in the restaurant but in the bar area at high tops, very uncomfortable. When we complained we were told that the restaurant seating area was really busy and we would be more comfortable in the bar!! There were lower regular tables off the bar area too, but they didn't seat us there either. I was very not happy. By the end of the evening the bar area filled up and my husband was being pushed by people juggling for space to stand with their drinks and screaming in their neighbors ears.
Now to the food, we ordered the brussels sprouts to share for a starter. I was amazed they even brought them out they were burned to a crisp. So oven done. Luckily, our entrees were perfect, I had the duck breast and my husband the steak frite. My husband mentioned ordering the truffle fries as a starter and I declined, so our waiter mentioned them with the steak frite. Then I noticed they charged us extra for the truffle fries on our bill! What a rip off.
We had reservations, we dress (I think) nicely, we are educated and therefor can speak nicely (my husband is a Dr. and I work in education), I don't believe we did anything that should have allowed the hostess to have treated us the way we were treated or treated anyone the way we were treated. I won't go back. I will go back to Kimpton, but not their restaurants.

The drinks and service were excellent... and the space is very hip. Our server, Annie, was wonderful. The food was just OK, though. My wife had the duck which wholly lacked seasoning. My steak was pretty good. The real winner was the fresh-baked brioche loaf with fois gras butter. We'd try it again with our eyes back on the cocktail menu.

I don't have a detailed review we were just very pleased with the entire service. The salsify soup and wagyu tartar were fantastic, so was the brioche w fioe gras butter. The duck meatball served with the seared duck breast was fantastic (the table next to us ordered it too and agreed) . The manager really stepped up and made the experience all the more mememorable (I wanna say john, was his name)

We had great traditional brunch fare - which is exactly what our friend visiting from Germany requested. The food was quite tasty and well cooked. The breakfast burrito could use a bit more chorizo, though. Staff were freindly, efficient and helpful. At one point, a drink was spilled by a server (miraculously missing everyone at the table!), and a replacement was provided very quickly. We were impressed with the quick fix for what was a minor problem. We appreciated that we were allowed to linger over our meal for a while, with no pressure to give the table up.

Steak frites amazing. Tables much too close and very awkward to get in and out of. That’s the only drawback to an otherwise very nice experience.

Unfortunately, despite booking a table on OpenTable, the restaurant was unable to accommodate us. We arrived 5 minutes early. They made no effort to resolve it and said we could sit at the bar (which did not have any seats available) or advised us to go to another restaurant.

The place was beautiful but the food and service was not equally as nice. I had to send back food (which I do not like to do) and was just all around disappointed with the experience. Even though I spoke to a manager, Lowery (food runner) is the only one that seemed to care that we were having a bad experience and tried to help.
