Dinosaur Bar-B-Que - Stamford Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten at Dinosaur a few times and decided to go again on Saturday Night. Service was good, noise level was moderate and our Open Table reservation was honored. A minute after our food arrived, the fire alarm went off, and everyone had to leave the building. We waited outside for 15-20 minutes. By the time we got back, our food was lukewarm at best. I thought the restaurant would comp us a drink or something for our inconvenience, but nothing was offered. We shared the rib special and I found that my end of the rack was extremely fatty, although the other end was fine.
The biggest problem with Dinosaur BBQ is the fact that food is never hot, but luke warm. Ribs are good. Son-in-law had catfish which he said he wouldn't order again...too much batter and not enough fish. Also disappointed that the restaurant didn't give me credit for my Open Table reservation. Fortunately, I received an e-mail from Open Table and corrected the error.
We suggested this restaurant to friends who asked to join us for dinner. They'd never been here before, but I'm sure they will return as they loved it. Everything we had was excellent and portions are generous with very reasonable prices. Another plus is a large parking lot.
We treated friends for dinner. We placed our order, our appetizers were served and then we were told that they ran out of an entree (pulled pork) that our guest had ordered. This further delayed our wait. The waiter was extremely apologetic, a great waiter but I feel the restaurant should have comped something for the delay in dinner.
This location seems to be on a downhill trend when it comes to the kitchen. This is our second visit in a row that the kitchen did not get the order correctly -- appetizers came out same time or very close to entrees and this time they got one order wrong and lost one dinner completely. Also, they ran out of chicken. The place was not even busy. There were a couple of apologies, but absolutely no effort on the part of the management to help the situation. We felt badly for our waiter because we knew it was out of his control. Although overall the food is good, next time we want barbecue we will be probably be going somewhere else.
My children took me here for Mother's Day.
It was great !!! Friendly staff , very accommodating, I have to give props to the girl who greeted us and sat us she was excellent.good vibe goin' throughout the place. Food was everything I dreamed and more 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Our waiter Eric was great as was everyone who helped bring out orders etc. Everyone very helpful to answer your questions. Had a yummy rum drink from bar Donkey ?? ( something) cant remb , but apps, mains everything was wonderful. Definitely will be back👍🏼🙌🏼😍
Went at 645 on a Sunday evening......fairly busy but not terrible. Waited 20 minutes for our drinks, over 30 minutes for our appetizers, and over 30 minutes for our meal. Kept getting different excuses each time we asked what the delay was. One comment was that they had run out of ribs and were waiting for the fresh ones to be done,......really!!!
Probably won's go back. Just wasn't worth it.
Clearly too far from Texas or the Carolinas for real BBQ! The smoke aroma walking in was great and the place was quite crowded (mostly people standing and drinking not sitting and eating) but the food didn't live up to the first impression. I wouldn't go back. I tried the combination, I think it was called tres ninos. The ribs were OK but the rest was disappointing.
Sad to say I was very disappointed with the Stamford location of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. I've been to the original in Syracuse many years ago, and to the location in Rochester many times, and the one in Harlem too. All those were very good. Stamford, not so much.
Our waiter was terrible. Bad personality, not friendly at all. Seemed like he hated his job. Came to our table a total of three times. Was totally going through the motions.
My sides were awesome. I had the greens, and the baked beans. Both about the most delicious I've ever had. But, you don't go to BBQ for the sides. Good sides are a plus, you go for the que.
My ribs were dry and burnt. In retrospect, I should have sent them back. I guess I've had so many good meals at other Dinosaurs, I was not expecting bad ribs to be a possibility.
I guess I will go back again, and give them another shot. Just was really not happy this, my first, experience with the Stamford location.
Usually black waitresses serve us and they are all very nice and friendly but this time a white male water served us. He was super unfriendly and left us unserved for a long time. Took 25 minutes to order food and I had to get our doggie bags by myself. Great place for family but never wanna him to serve us again.
Have been to the Harlem location many times and much prefer the food there but not the wait. Had the Brisket and Pulled Pork and both tasted great but the portions were fairly small....not what you expect from a BBQ place. The Harlem location served considerably more food the last time I was there. Service was decent, and liked that the location is not nearly as crowded, but left feeling like it was a tiny bit expensive and still a little hungry. Overall good, and I'll probably go back at some point, but might be a while. That said, did get their BBQ sauce and it's delicious!
