Worst restaurant. Bad food feels like the restaurant is going to go out of business.
Complained to the manager and his response was we are only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday and thank you for your comments.
We arrived for an early dinner as we were catching a show across town. They don't open until 5 however they were very accommodating allowing us to start out with a few drinks at the bar. The overall feel of the place as described as an upscale dining experience. Our server Justin was impeccable and spot on being one of the best servers I've ever had. The downside were the other "guests" as we were dining there were two tables seated one had a guy wearing a tank top and the other had a couple that looked like they just rolled out of bed. Understanding this is a resort, on the beach when you are supposed to have an UPSCALE dining experience you expect an UPSCALE experience. Enforcing a dress code past the bar would have been enough to earn five stars across the board. We were looking for a nice dining experience you can't get at Applebee's.
I have been here several times and this time I was greatly disappointed. The service was horrible the food just OK.... I expected much better. I will be taking it off my top 5 list.
Best steak I've ever had! The truffle mac n cheese is to die for!
Having made some special trips to Las Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, and now to Atlantic City and having tried what is suppose to be the best Steak House in the city. I was rather disappointed in the Chelsea Prime. My first steak was grossly overcook and when my second steak arrived it was cooked to a more closer medium temperature but I felt the overall quality of beef to be lacking as compared to some other great steak houses I've been too. The service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was very good. Just a shame the food didn't match up to the overall feel of the restaurant.
The food was excellant and beautifully presented. The service was poor. We recieve our cocktails after we received our appetizers and our bottle of wine came well after we recived out entre. It was so bad, I thought we would be done our dinner before the wine arrived. There was only one waiter and bus boy on, but the resturant was not that crowded.
WOULD GO BACK AGAIN.
ENJOYED VERY MUCH.
Everything was excellent!!! We will be back!!!!!
Great aged porterhouse and a reasonable tasting menu.
Fabulous, we had Caviar - overlooking the Ocean. Wine list is extensive, has prices for everyone. We had one in our party w/health issues and also a Teenager, the staff was very accomidating. Overall great experience, when we go back to AC, definitely going again.
This was my third time at Chelsea Prime and I must say I was disappointed. The chopped salad had changed in flavor and too many onions. The side dish of corn was not as sweet as I have had previously.
The drinks were very good, the service was excellent but for the cost of the meal I felt the wonderful flavors I had encountered in my previous times at the restaurant were no longer present.
I went to Chelsea Prime for my 1st year wedding anniversay & I could not have been more pleased with the restauran as a whole. It has sweeping views of the ocean, romantic ambiance, the whole nine! The food was incredible...it was the most flavorful, top-quality, most delicious food I have ever tasted (not exaggerating). The menu is pricey, but that's how much it would cost for an upscale restaurant anywhere. It's worth every bit of what we paid. If you decide to visit Chelsea Prime, you will not be disappointed.
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our 11th anniversary. We thought that the food would be excellent since the restaurant can not rely on the gamblers. It took over a half hour for them to find the wine we chose. Meanwhile, we were served burnt fried almost black gnocchi with roasted asparagus and roasted carrots, even though the menu said gnocchi with spring peas. We both ordered the prime NY Strip. The steaks were "gummy" and gross. I felt bad for the cow that sacrificed its parts because we couldn't eat a bite. We were seeing a show right after dinner and had no time to get new steaks. Thank goodness the rolls and butter were good so at least we had eaten before the show.
I couldn't believe how nice it was inside. The food was great and I really enjoyed my night. The look over the ocean was beautiful.
Seems to be going downhill. This is the fourth time we've dined here in the last 15 months. The first time back in mid 2011 was excellent. Since then the food and service have steadily declined. The staff seems like they really try, but yet it just doesn't really come together very well.
Bestdr y aged Rib Eye I have ever eaten!!! The peeky toe crab appetizer was so sweet and delicious!!
Ambiance is reminiscent of 50s/old Hollywood. AMAZING STEAK! Raw platter is very impressive! While it's all ala carte, know that the sides could feed your table. They're not listed that way & our server didn't tell us that.
My boyfriend wanted to take me out for a special date and he couldn't have chosen a better place than Chelsea Prime. As an Atlantic City native I had never been there before. The beautiful ambiance was accompanied by a fantastic view of the ocean and beach. Our food was outstanding and service was prompt and friendly. The only thing missing; live music. I would reccomend Chelsea Prime to anyone looking for a romantic night out.
This was a great place
The restaurant was lovely. It had a gorgeous view, the decor was very 1940's supper club and was beautiful as well. I had the 16 oz. bone out rib eye and it was fantastic. The only comment I must make is that it is very expensive. My friend had one glass of wine, I had a soda, we shared an appetizer, we each had a steak some sides, no dessert and with tip it came to a little over $180. The only improvement I think they SHOULD MAKE is to include one side, possibly a potatoe. Everything was absolutely excellent, the food, the view, and the decor, but in today's economy I believe it would be beneficial to the restaurant maybe to add a salad before dinner and a potatoe, still offering all the other sides and appetizers of course.
I loved the room as we came in, the ocean waves out every window.
The food was delicious, especially the truffle mac and cheese.
The steaks were cooked perfectly, the way we ordered them.
I would definitely go back
Was there for an anniversary dinner. Service was excellent, as was the food. Great steak, great sides, great wine list. Had flowers delivered which were on our table when we got there. Manager had Champagne delivered on the house! Overall, this was an awesome experience and an excellent dinner. I would rate this as the top restaurant in Atlantic City. We will definitely be coming back!
Arguably the best steak on the east coast. We were lucky and were able to catch foie gras on the menu and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this gem!
excellent service and recommendations.
Our waiter was outstanding. Excellent service, great atmosphere, lovely presentation!!! Will definitly go back!
great food, service and atmosphere!!
We went to Chelsea Prime while we were staying at the hotel. We received a special offer with our room for a $100 gift card to the restaurant. The food was very good, although I thought a bit over priced. The view was excellent, the staff was wonderful. We went there for our anniversary and they brought out a special piece of dessert that read "Happy Anniversary" and 2 other smaller dessert options. It was really sweet and unexpected. It was definitely a nice place for a romantic dinner, I wouldn't bring the kids.
We've been at least 2-3 times before but it has never been like this. The food was certainly not up to par. The meat was not cooked to my liking,, the lobster tasted odd. We ordered wine that I'm sure was bad ( we sent it back and were not charged for it, or for it's replacement glass). But first our waitress said they sent up the wrong bottle. Oddly I had heard her say this TWICE to another table. Plus they made us wait for our table despite a plethora of open tables. What gives???
First time staying at the Chelsea Hotel and eating at Chelsea Prime, service was excellent, food was delicious. . . will be back again. . .
If we didn't receice $100.00 gift certificate we would not have tried it.
Showed up at 7:40 for a 7:45 reservation & were told to wait 5 minutes when the restaurant was almost empty. I asked for a table by the window, the hostess said no problem. 10 min later we went to tell the hostess we were moving to the bar to wait and she said, "Are you ready?" as though we had been holding them up. Then she sat us as far away from the window as possible.
Odered king crab. 40 min later when it hadn't arrived and I asked our waiter, he admitted he had completely forgotten. He offered us free dessert for the trouble.
Another 20 minutes for our steaks. Worst ever. Was like sawing a brick of leather. Also, why is their steak sauce sweet?
Had to ask for rolls twice.
Dessert took 30 min. Cake was cold. Ice cream wa
Great appitizers (Tuna Tartare and Escargot)and Filet and New York Strip cooked perfectly. I would skip the Lyonnaise Potatoes not very good. Make sure you bring a large checkbook as this is a very expensive place to dine.
We enjoyed the dinner. Food and ambiance was good. Would recommend the ribs and steak... the asperigus was very tasty and well seasoned. I was not impressed with the drinks... Overall a good experience.vm
my husband and I were very impressed w/everything.Can't wait to return, the filet was out of this world I can taste it just thinking about it my mouth is watering.CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING IT MEMERABLE.....
The atmosphere is the big sell at this retro supper club. The food was really good. The steak was prepared perfectly and had great flavor. The sides lacked a little umphf. For example, I couldn't taste the truffle in the truffled mashed potatoes. Also, the $9 grilled asparagus, which was supposed to be sized to share, was 7 spears.
The wait staff was attentive, but seemed more preoccupied with making sure they each had an equal # of tables. Kind of distracting. On the plus side, when our meal took forever to come out of the kitchen, the server comped our dessert.
Again, the ambiance is really cool. We sat in a cozy banquette surrounde by old Atlantic city black & white photos. We drank champagne and had a great night.
We started with cocktails & a $120 seafood plateau which was very good. I asked for a dirty olive martini and it came back not dirty so I needed to send it back. Next were salads (wedge & chopped)that cost more than most places but were comparable. The view of the beach and ocean was great (except for the large yellow construction crane in sight. The wine list was much overpriced and I had a bad experience with my steak. I ordered a medium 14oz aged NY strip steak and was served a boneless rib eye. As a result, I sent back while my party continued to eat and received a raw 14oz aged NY strip steak. I sent it back again, and then waited as my party finished their meal. By the time I received my prime steak it was passed its prime.
Having eaten at many of AC's steakhouses, the Chelsea is the one that never disappoints. The setting feels like an old movie where Lauren Bacall and Humphry Bogart will walk in any moment. Service is top notch. The appetizers were all perfect, from the escargot to the fois gras. The steaks were aged and cooked to perfection. Creamed corn A delectable treat. The signature cucumber martini is a must. The only item to pass on would be the chocolate torte which was a bit dry and would have been better warm and oozing.
We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated, even though we had reservation. Bartender had to complain to hostess which was what finally got us seated. Steak was superb, lyonnaise potatoes soggy and not great, and rolls were stale. Waitress was great.
was really looking forward to dining here. We had really great apps, but we were both disappointed in our steaks. The layout of the room was nice, but there was no live music despite the white baby grand. EVERYTHING was way over priced and the service was only ok.
We had dinner at the Chelsea Prime on a recent trip to Atlantic City. We were staying in the hotel for our 5 year anniversary. I ordered the wild salmon and my husband orderded the 10oz filet, we each ordered a ceasar salad, and we had a serving of the whipped potatoes. My salmon was mediocre at best, it was burnt on the outside and they did not put enough sauce on the dish. My husband ordered his steak medium well, it came out medium rare to being more on the rare side, we asked to have it cooked more, it then came out charcoled and really well done. The salads were awful, all you tasted were the anchovies, there was not even a hint of dressing. The whipped potatoes were wonderful. The service was also mediocre at best.
