Dining at Meldrum is our 2 Red Rosette Dining Room. For those not familiar with the name, historically it symbolises welcome, friendship and great hospitality – which we thought summed up Meldrum House nicely.

The name dates back as far as 1493 when Christopher Columbus arrived in Spain on his second voyage of the world. He ventured inland and came across what he thought to be a deserted Carib Indian village. The sailors found a fruit that had a sweet flavour and juiciness and Columbus recorded it in his log as looking like a pine cone. Not long after, the pineapple was found in royal courts and circles in Europe. Any guest who was invited to a party where a whole pineapple was displayed, knew that there was no expense spared in guaranteeing the guests’ enjoyment. It was this that made the crowned fruit the high symbol of social events.

Lovely pre Christmas lunch at Meldrum House. Nice relaxed atmosphere with very attentive staff. All Covid rules in place and well spaced out tables in dining room.

Dining is at present in the new Ballroom due to the Pineapple restaurant closure for Covid 19 restrictions. This in no way detracts from the dining pleasure. Tables are well spaced out. The staff are plentiful, polite and extremely helpful. Food as usual was excellent. Altogether a fabulous dining experience. We had booked to return but sadly Covid 19 forces closure I can easily recommend booking.

Delicious food, in lovely surroundings and we weren’t rushed out and felt the Covid measures were very well done.

We had a fabulous pre-Christmas lunch with friends at Meldrum House on Saturday. The food & service was fantastic - as always. The seating between tables is suitably distanced but without taking all the atmosphere from the place. It gave us a feeling of “normality” for a while & we felt very relaxed dining there.

Once again a lovely experience at Meldrum house I must say eating in the Ballroom is fantastic with great service and tables spaced out in this weird times makes you feel safe
