Dim Sum House by Jane G's
Great food. Fast service. Nice value for the $.
Best dim sum restaurant in the east coast and energetic and multicultural staff!!
Hostess was extremely rude and didn’t say hello, made eye contact, just grunted when we said we have a reservation, grabbed the menu and started walking away and we didn’t even know whether to follow or not. Then she flopped the menu on a table and walked off. She was a dark brunette and skinny young woman, and the reason I’m giving a description hoping the manager will retrain because hands down the most atrocious welcome and that was the first impression of the restaurant. Frankly, I’m confused why she is put at that job or applied for the job. However aside from her, our waitress was remarkable and gave us incredible informative and friendly service. The food was great, we had all Shanghai dim sum including the spicy shrimp dumplings which we loved washing them down with perfectly balanced cocktails. I love the lychee martinis. Regardless please talk to the hostess. I almost feel like walking out as never met anyone so rude. I’m glad I didn’t as I did love the rest of the experience.
Dim Sum House has the best selection of dim sim and they are all good. I had a Cantonese sampler with 2 types and dumplings and 2 types of buns. The restaurant is large and seating is comfortable.
Outstanding Dim Sum. The best in Philadelphia.
We were 6 diners and we ordered a huge variety of small plates. Especially good were the ribs, soup dumplings and the cold sesame noodles.
We went downtown philly for Dim Sum. Couldn’t pick a favorite dumpling. They were all so yummy. Can’t wait to take some of our friends and go back.
We had a great table for four near the bar in the main dining room. We ordered way too much food. We sampled/ordered four different plates of dim sum all of which were spectacular. We each got a different entree, which created several “doggie bags”. We should have split two entrees. Nevertheless, the food was great as were the cocktails and beer selection. It was a little more expensive than your average Chinese food but worth the drive into the city and extra money. We would definitely return.
Had much higher expectations for the dumplings.
Had an ok experience, nice restaurant. Good waitress
Food was great. Staff was very attentive. We ordered a lot of food and they were on top of everything. The sticky rice was amazinggggg!
ac is cold
Family gathering. We enjoyed our dinner in this friendly and quite environment. We shared a lot of dumplings and had an entree. Good quality and price. Nice staff.
I like this place a lot but this visit somethings were off. The wrong food was brought out, our water was warm, our waiter who we've had before and (is cool) admitted to having a hangover. The short ribs wee bland. I will return and I do recommend this restaurant I'm just willing to chalk it up to a bad day.
Among the best Asian dining I have tasted. The vegetables, fish and sauces are excellent. The scallion pancakes were delicious and crisp. We had five dishes and all were superb. The wine selection is also superb.
Everything was Amazing about Dim Sum House except...the off putting smell as you enter the building and ascend the stairs to the restaurant.
Jane G's Dim Sum House was seating and serving diners amongst a series of ceiling leaks, buckets on the floor, and other puddles.
Great time! Loved the service and the food came out very delicious and quick! Definitly going back.
This was a delightful dining experience. The food was very good, tasty, well cooked, and a short wait. The mixed drinks were made well. The services was also very good with very polite servers and SA's. We will come back again to try more dishes.
We love dim sum and decided to try Dim Sum House. Food was very good. Dim sum was larger than we typically see at other restaurants, which was nice. We will definitely be back.
Excellent food, for a great price!
Went there the night before as part of a large group and enjoyed it so much came back as a couple the next day. Great value.
We are visiting Philadelphia for the first time from Oregon and decided to try Dim Sum House by Jane' s we had not had dim sum before. The waiter was very helpful in us through the menu to decide what would be best for us. We had a very good dinner and a very pleasant experience!
We went to this restaurant for a friends night out. The food was great and there were a lot of options to choose from. However, service was poor/lacking. For a group of 6 people, 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. We did not feel that the service was worth 20%. A lot of items were missing from our initial order and the server was not engaging and attentive to our dining experience. It was a shame because it could have been an excellent dining experience.
Dirty tables all around you and just crappy service. Waiters don’t care.
My husband and I wanted to see with our own eyes what our friends have been raving about. It is definitely a hot spot for the college scene with the pool table. So it was a bit loud. However, it was not overwhelming. We both really enjoyed the food. Especially the dumplings. They were soft and delightful in texture.
A tasty, attractive place to eat but felt incredibly rushed! If we were to go again I would ask that Dim Sum, soup and entrees not be brought to the table at the same time.
i'M A REGULAR AT jANE g'S dIM sUM hOUSE NAD LOVE IT. tHIS MOST RECENT MEAL WITH A FIRST-TIMEER/VEGETARIAN WAS A BIG SUCCESS.
We had such a great time this past Saturday with two friends who had never been there before, that I've reserved again for this coming Friday, for sure one of my most favorite restaurants in the city and possibly the very best for dim sum..
First time here on a lunch date with my wife. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of the dining room even for lunch. Everything was great from our waiter to the freshness of the food and how quickly everything was brought out to us. We will definitely be returning.
We ordered 3 dim sum items and one fried rice entree. The entree arrived first. Pretty bland without adding the soy sauce at the table, which was very salty; they didn't have a reduced sodium one. Two dim sum items were steamed the other just had a plain shrimp. The vegetable fried roll was fine though so hot it burned mouth. We should have been warned. Beer came out late. All in all, not the best dim sum for introducing that cuisine to our friend.
The service was ok, food was tasty however something was not gluten free from the gluten free menu. Both my husband and daughter have celiac and both were sick after we ate at Dim Sum House by Jane G. And as that was the only meal they ate that day where there was any question about ingredients, seems clear to us some gluten was in their meal.
The staff was pleasant and the food was prepared very quickly! Great Meh Fuh!
Our server wasn’t paying attention to our order and our needs. The problem is they have a recommended tip as soon as you receive the bill. A tip that he did not deserve!
Very good with an authentic Shanghai taste! I was at the restaurant with a guest from Shanghai and she very much enjoyed the experience.
Another must on our Philadelphia dining plan. We love Jane G's. I crave the dry-fried pork. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is always spot-on!
Spicy shrimp dumplings are the best!!!
The pork soup dumplings are my favorite, and the other dishes will not disappoint either. Reasonable prices. Excellent service.
