Dilly Bistro, Bar & Bottle Shop Ratings and Reviews
Dilly is sort of in a class by itself. The food is good pub food, the atmosphere is bar like, the wine availably and pricing is the best in the city. I am a wings fan and went to try their "Wed. Wings night." The variety of wings style available is outstanding and the wings are very good but not outstanding. Pretty much like good wings you can get elsewhere. We both ordered the Mariemont salad which was outstanding, could be served with pride anywhere in town. Service was very attentive and informative. Live music was either good or a distraction depending on how easily you wanted to talk to your dinner companion. We have always liked Dilly and will go back, just treat it for what it is -a good inexpensive pub or bar food experience with an outstanding wine selection at the best price points in town.
New ownership is trying hard. . .Ok food, mostly sandwiches and occasional special. Had medium rare prime rib "special". It was warm but had been reheated on the grill, so bottom was gray. Asparagus was ordinary. Mashed potatoes were just that and nothing else. Employees turnover a lot and service lacks a that "special" attention. Beer choices interesting but a bit exoctic and unknown. Wine choices excellent. The crowd is 30's to 80's , with some families. Live music is almost always fun and talented. Room is a shoe box with a nice looking bar. Clean restrooms. Great patio in good weather. Best to get reservations even if waiting in the parking lot. Without reservations they tend to make you wait in the bar. Good place to go with friends for drinks and a meal. We go there often because it is a joint we enjoy.
Again, not disappointed! Food, music, server were all wonderful and made a great environment for 3 couples to catch up and enjoy and evening out! Only request - is that the restaurant have a way to chill the bottles of white wine that are bought at the wine shoppe and brought to the table. Short on ice buckets.....
Pre theater - Unable to seat right away - table not designated reserved- hostess and manager very apologetic - wait really not long. Waitress took order immediately and we had plenty of time to enjoy meal and get to play on time😊
Cheeseburgers and Fish and Chips very good!
We really enjoyed dining at Dilly! We wished we were in the area a bit longer because we would have gone back again!
The food was delicious! My short ribs were cooked perfectly, the polenta was so creamy, and even the vegetables were great. Some restaurants throw the veggies in the plate as an after thought but not Dilly! My son really enjoyed his burger too. It was cooked exactly the way he likes it!
We took the Mediterranean plate back as a late night snack and it included delicious hummus and fresh cucs, olives, and feta.. yum!
Our server was well informed and very attentive.
We can’t wait to go back
Wonderful birthday experience. Our server Tyler was one of 2 servers for the entire restaurant and it was buzzing, however you would never know. He was an absolute professional. No request was to much. He was cheerful, courteous and so helpful and made our birthdays very memorable!
We have loved Dilly for years, it has been a great neighborhood place with a great wine list and acceptable food that is very convenient to the movies. However, on this last visit the kitchen was REALLY slow (our server was fine) and the shrimp tacos were definitely not worth the price. They were two small tortillas with almost non-existent shrimp with a little sauce and shreds of slaw. We really felt that there was a distinct decline in quality.
The tables for 2 up against the wall are just not that comfortable - especially if you have reserved for a special occasion and the restaurant is not that full. Don't sit someone out with their spouse for a special event next to a family with small children and a noisy table of friends when there are lots of empty tables - next time I will speak up and request the table I would prefer as this seems to become more common that certain restaurants try to get folks to take the least desirable tables first. This used to be my favorite work night spot - but it just is not the same and food portions were much smaller. The sweet potato fries are still the best in town but the meat loaf has lost something. Still good but no longer great.
I booked a reservation for five people for 7pm. We waited for around 20 minutes, which was fine, but when we were seated no one came to serve us. After another 20 minutes I asked a busboy to find our waitress. It seems that they had canceled our server and no one was assigned to take over our table. We finally ordered our dinner and were served at 8pm. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. We have been coming here for years and will think twice about coming again.
The Dilly is a great place to listen to great music and get great food and wine. With the wine shop part of the restaurant, you can select your wine and only pay an additional $5.01 for corkage. Great way to taste some wines. Always excellent food selections and specials. And when the weather gets warm, you can't beat music outside in their courtyard.
