   Our food was excellent and prepared exactly as ordered. My steak was perhaps the best restaurant steak I have ever eaten. Unless you are just seriously hungry I don’t recommend ordering appetizers, because the portion are huge. The prices are high, but worth it. This is a great place for special occasions but I couldn’t eat here frequently because of the high prices. Overall the restaurant is excellent and I would recommend it.

   Good food, but overpriced. My wife and I ate here for an anniversary. Ordered an appetizer, two steaks, shared two sides, had a sweet tea and a cocktail, and two desserts…..total was $205, not including tip. Should have been about $100 in my opinion.

   A very enjoyable experience for a graduation dinner at Dillard's. Food was excellent. Highlight was fantastic service. Only ding was the table, seated in bar area with high traffic. Understand with heavy use during a graduation weekend but did detract just a bit. Nevertheless was a wonderful evening.

   The table was set with a dirty glass and knife. The booth seat had food stuck to it from the night before. The napkins unpressed. The crab cakes were burned. The salmon salad was inedible. The steaks and lobster were delicious. We have celebrated three graduations here, several parents weekend dinners, and the experience and food has really gone downhill since we first started coming. It need a thorough clean and decor update. They used to be the only fine dining game in town, but now there are several options and we will look elsewhere next time.

    We have eaten here many times since the transition from R.Davidson to Dillards and have never been disappointed until this visit. We were prepared for things to be busy on graduation day but we were not prepared to be served unexpectedly lesser quality food and on one plate, next to no meat. We ordered two 7 oz.filets. Both were tasty but were obviously sirloins as they were stringy. One ordered short ribs. There may have been 2oz. of meat on top of a giant piece of cornbread. We asked the waiter where the rest of the meat was to which he replied he was not the chef and nothing else was done. We had bread plates on the table but no bread was offered or brought. We asked for some and the waiter told us he didn’t think there was any because they ran out but a few minutes later he brought a micro- sliced ball of bread the size of a small sea urchin. Other tables were given carafes of ice water but we were not. When our glasses ran dry, we asked twice for a refill and were eventually handed a carafe. Our table ordered two wedge salads. I am not sure I have ever seen one quite that small but whatever. After our first round of drinks, no more were offered. The drinks we did receive had apparently been sitting long enough for the ice to melt when they got to the table. No dessert was offered. Not sure if our waiter was brand new or just aloof but we have never had poor service at Dillards until now. And I have also never seen the place so well staffed. When we eat out, we do not skimp. We expected a great meal as always but were quite disappointed. Not ever having had this issue at Dillards, we have taken our time to compose this review. This was definitely not a $400.00 plus meal and frankly we were all shocked.

    Waitress completely forgot salad course. Brought entrees and didn’t offer to hold and bring the salads. Steaks were very undercooked had to send back to the kitchen.

    We had a fabulous meal! This is our second time dining here. We visit each year for the Mayors 5k and have dinner here with our children. We are never disappointed. The salmon and risotto is delicious!! I can’t wait for next year!

    Prices have gone up since the pandemic of course but so have the choices! Very high end beef offerings now and still love the famous Lobster Mac and Cheese! Lime cheesecake was amazing for dessert!!!

    We were seated upstairs, and I would certainly recommend the downstairs dining room instead, where there seems to have been more attention to decor/ambiance. The ceiling is low. There was chipped paint, drapes that were cheap and too small for the window, and harsh lighting coming from the bar. If this were a burger joint or a sports bar, I might have looked the other way, but if you have a $98 steak on the menu, that raises the bar. Our waiter, while very nice and eager to please, clearly was not sufficiently trained by management to serve at a restaurant that this restaurant is trying to imitate. He should have been shadowing a more experienced waiter, but not on his own. Every shortfall should have been addressed by management. This restaurant is trying very hard to imitate a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, but is falling far short.

    We visited for dinner Easter night, family of 4. Overall, dinner was wonderful! However they were very understaffed. It took over 3 hours for our dinner for 4 to come out and we did not do an appetizer nor dessert. Our waiter tried his best to work through it, but still that is an extraordinarily long time to wait for dinner. We love coming here when we visit our daughter, however next time I will probably not book here.

    Nice restaurant and our food was delicious. We had the filet and duck. Everything is a la carte on the menu so you will need to order sides with your entree. A nice place for a celebration and they take reservations, which is rare in Tuscaloosa.

    4 people. Had 3 drinks total amongst the table. With tip $400. Ordered 10oz filet. Below average. Had some fat that I left on the plate. I don’t recall EVER ordering a filet in the past 20 years and having noticeable fat on my cut in which I had to cut off. $14 scallop add on. 2 tiny scallops with not much taste. Cheese and meat board was a 2 on a scale of 1 through 10. For example I would gladly pay more for a meat and cheese board and have something of quality. I felt like it was a few Pepperidge Farm crackers and some cold cuts from a local supermarket. Not trying to bash Dillards as this was my second time there. I just fully understand what the entire experience is like now. Not a wow but let me be clear it’s not bad either. It’s very average and not really a great value or anywhere close to being bang for your buck. On a scale of 1 through 10 I would give Dillards a 4. I would recommend to a friend but I would be perfectly clear with setting the expectations.

    The restaurant was out of some things to start. The calamari wasn’t crispy and arrived cold. The crab cakes were more filler than crab. For $26 the crab cakes should have been mostly crab. All three entrees we’re just okay. Nothing stood out. Plating was haphazard without any attention to detail.

    Had to wait 20 min past reservation, which I’m ok with that because it was busy. Then sat for 20 min at our table until we asked who our waiter was. They had to go find someone. Then waited over and hour for our food. My steak was ordered medium well and was delivered rare. They took it back and broiled it which only cooked the ends that were cut and it made it like rubber. Couldn’t even cut it anymore. Waiter was very nice and apologized but no manager or chef seemed to care. No one came out to ask what they could do to make it better. Honestly that’s all I expected was for someone to recognize my meal was not prepared right and at least offer an apology. Not sure I will go back anytime soon.

    Chophouse is working hard to please it’s local and out-of-town customers with a full menu of steaks and other entrees. The staff is new to the restaurant with several in training so bring your patience. And, it seems the owner is stingy with shift meals, so the waiters and waitresses have yet to try dishes so it leaves them short on a list of “MY favorite is…”. Overall, friendly, warm environment with a decent meal and a staff that wants to do everything in his/her power to make you love the South! We’ll give it a second chance but at these prices - looking for the staff to be trained and invested in for a better customer experience (they are amazing people!!).
